A phenomenal win for us tonight seeing as we had to come back from behind. We made sure we kept our composure in front of goal and were patient in our build up, and we got our reward eventually. When Alberto tucked away his goal I could see our confidence rise and there heads just dropped. We took full advantage and dominated the game from that point on. Great game for us and a wonderful achievement for me personally. This is probably my best German Cup Final win and a great time to get it considering.
Well I'm won't say now, but after the Champions League Final, there will be a press conference, win or lose and I'll reveal all but my hope is that the press conference won't over shadow our performance tonight and what is a great achievement for the club and the fans.
Just so that everyone knows.. the big surprise will be in the update of the Champions League Final!!
PLEASE DON'T KEEP ASKING!
You can't blame people for asking about the surprise when you've been building it up so much yourself...
Anyway it's a great story, one of the best on the site. Is there anything left to achieve?
What a game. We were truly punished throughout about 80 minutes until Jack (Wilshere) got sent off which for some reason is when we finally started playing our football. The final 10 minutes of normal time were our best throughout the match up until we scored our first goal. Again, Alberto showed why we were willing to pay £55M for him, and I still stand by the fact he is 100% worth it, and is definately the man to replace Edin, and he showed that with his 34 goals this season. A great return for someone in his first season in German Football and playing with these guys for the first time ever. He can only get better. An excellent result for us today and that's a lucky number 7 for us. Bring on number 8!
First of all, I'd like to say that I won't be answering any questions in this press conference, so I'd like for you all to just listen to what I have to say. Thank you all for coming and witnessing what has been a historic night for the club, seeing as though we have now won the UEFA Champions League for a 7th straight year. It's unprecedented what we've done in the last 8 years under my management and I'd like to thank every single footballer and member staff that has been here while I was here for their contribution one way or another to this club.
Secondly, I'd like to thank the chairman, Heiko Pohl for giving me a chance when nobody would and allowing me to make this decision. I'd like to inform you all that I will be taking a 1 year sabbatical from the game we all love. I mentioned in an interview earlier this season that I wanted to go back to London one day and help out the area I grew up in, and after the recent earthquake there, I feel that there is no time like the present. I'm taking this break with the blessing of all the players in the squad, all the staff and the chairmen. My assistant manager Achim Sarstedt, will take over the reigns for the coming season and I have the utmost confidence in him that he can continue the success this club has had over the last decade. I'd just like to make clear I will be back the season after next, which will be the 10th season since my appointment, and I just hope that all the clubs fans will welcome me back with open arms when I return, and hopefully they realise that I'm going back to help my homeland and not hurt Wolfsburg.
Thank you all for your time and I hope that this announcement will not overshadow what was an incredible night in this incredible clubs history!
