Do Player Stats REALLY make as much of a difference as we think?

They CAN use it, they just don't all the time.

For instance, look at Marc Albrighton. His crossing is superb, just like in real life. However, his decisions attribute means that sometimes he doesn't cross when he should and vice versa. If he had a higher rating, more or less every time he crossed it'd be brilliant.
exactly.

balotelli, immense talented, but lazy and selfish hinders him, he is capable of brilliance that many others are not, but he'll often go missing. milner on the other hand is unspectacular, but nearly always turns up

then it comes down to what kind of player you prefer and can work with

And i should add that's why players like rooney and tevez are so brilliant, a mixture of good and great attributes makes them complete players that are a nightmare to stop

Let's just say that:
You can't just rely on one attribute (for example: Finishing, if a striker has top finishing and low composure then they will struggle to score most of the time, but because of his awesome finishing he will sometimes score.)
Attributes link together. Just because someone's heading is **** doesn't mean he will always lose the header, maybe he has the determination or is brave enough to go for the header against someone who is good at heading but can't concentrate.

Ive just played against Birmingham.

Obafemi Martins completely took me to pieces.

At one point he dribbled past 8 of my players and my goal keeper.
He scored from nearly half way.
And completed his hattrick when he beat The Massive FEDERICO FAZIO in the air.

Sometimes players really play a lot better when they are fired up

By the way, what are Martins stats for the entire season? Just want to see if he only played well against you or he has been doing well

Kadlec (got his wonderkid tag end of second season ) carries my entire team on his young shoulders at times

Do you mind letting us see this goal where he dribbled past 8 of your players and your keeper?

What team are you managing?

Its a computetr game. Everyone talks about 'stats' and 'tactics' way too much. It really doesnt matter that much....... eg try managing Barca and play all your players out of position with your keeper up front. I bet you still win......... Thats how 'realistic' it is.

What's a computetr? ;)

Why don't you go play Valdes up front and Messi as a CB. You won't get very far. At all. Awful tactical decisions will make your team play badly no matter who you are. Hence why there are multiple threads that come up on here with people playing with these teams that are "so good you'll win any way", languishing in poor league and cup standings.
