Fans left shocked as Arsenal legend finally ends tenure

Wenger Steps Down

wenger_18227t.jpg

Thousands of Arsenal fans were left stunned as the rumours that Wenger had resigned, were brought to fruition, and were announced true. The reasons behind the resignation are unknown, but the message from some quarters was that Wenger was frustrated with the lack of silverware, and also needed more free time in which to spend with his family.

Arsene during his time at Arsenal won three Premier League titles despite not spending as much as his rivals. The Arsenal Legend released a statement today ‘After a decade at the club I think it is about time I have a bit of a break. I need to spend more time with my family because I am not getting any younger, my days are numbered.’ It is widely expected that the French manager will takeover as the manager of his native country's national side but he spoke out in his statement regarding this ‘I’ve heard the rumours concerning me taking over as the manager of the French national side. I have not been approached and I am not looking to return straight to football so quickly.’

Arsenal.com also released a smaller statement

We were saddened to hear of Arsene's resignation from Arsenal, but we accept this, and we understand anyone coming in will have to face the burden. We will not rush to name a successor, and will reveal our plan of actions in due course.

Well, he will be going after this season ends so maybe it is your time to shine Frankie. :)

Nice to see a well thought out Top club story instead of "Hello I am managing Man Yoo because they are easy, have loads of funds, good players and I dont want a challenge type threads." it seems clear by your intro that you arent doing it because Arsenal are already up there but because you support the club and want to take them to new heights :)

Young Coach Takes Care-Taker Role

# # # #

After quickly ruling himself out of the reckoning, Pat Rice advised Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood to appoint new flamboyant coach Frankie Hobbs as caretaker manager. Frankie had been recently brought in by Wenger from West-London club Hayes and Yeading, and has always been touted as a possible 'New-Wenger'. It seems as if Peter Hill-Wood as come to the desiciion of giving Mr Hobbs the reigns, while the board continues to look for a successor

Shortly after being named Arsenal care-taker boss Frankie Hobbs has revealed an interest in signing Exciting Argentinian winger Angel Di-Maria. In his private blog, he revealed an admiration for the Left-footed player, touted as 'Better than Messi' by Diego Maradona. Seeing as Frankie is only caretaker, he will have some convincing to do, in order to get funds, but, the Arsenal fans will be excited that such a prospect is being talked about to go to the Emirates, after living with years of signing unknown quantities.

Great start pal, there aren't that many arsenal stories on the site so hopefully this will be a good one.
I've just started a game as Arsenal and have spent £20 million on 10 u20 players who I think will develop and become first team regulars, continueing the wenger-esque approach. Anyway I will def follow because it will be interesting to compare are progress. Good Luck !:D

Transfer News - 18th July

Among the suprises, this early in the window, Arsenal have picked up two youngsters, in former Coventry star Aron Gunnarsson, and Molde defender Vegard Forren. Both were thought to be in the region of £1million. Two good deals for the Gunners and their new boss. And will Arsenal land Di Maria? Have your say..

Hobbs Gets His Man
di-maria.jpg

Frankie Hobbs has finally got his long-term transfer target, by signing former Benfica hotshot Angel Di Maria for a fee in the region of 10m. This is a small fee for a widely considered 'world-class' winger. Finally, Arsenal have signed someone who is well-known. Is this a sign of things to change.

Many Arsenal fans were left worried when Hobbs did sign two youngsters, in the form of Gunnarsson and Forren, but Hobbs has reassured the fans by saying he ''will strengthen where possible'', in order to gain the club a trophy, which ultimately, is the new care-taker's aim.

This is brilliant and one of the best layed out stories on the site; I loved your Hayes story, Good Luck :)
