Pre-Season Review

Even I couldn't have predicted pre-season going that well, it really was fantastic, scoring 16 goals and only conceding 2 was beyond my wildest dreams. On first impression the squad was solid defensively, but lacking in width, so the plan for this season, is keep it tight at the back, and take the one chance we might get at the other end. The board didn't exactly give me a transfer war-chest, what with £0 ! But I made do, sold a few players and here are the ins and outs.

Signings Review

Overall, with the budget I was given, I don't think I could've hoped for much more to be honest, and I think we actually got a few players I might have signed anyway had my budget been bigger. Admittedly, all of these were funded by sales, but I can't say I'll miss my sales too much, and they are contained in the screenshot below.

Essentially, I've built for the future, with none of the players I've signed really recognised throughout Europe. I think this builds for a strong season, and we'll see as the year goes on.

Was thinking about starting a Dortmund game..

Do they have any good players?

A few, the rest are kinda average, but to start with they could easily end up in a Euro spot first season.

You sold Weidenfeilller, the keeper who just got an 8.2 rating against Bochum for me. :P

Apart from that, we both had a great pre'season. How did you manage to sell Sadriljaj, nobody wants him on mine.

Nobody apart from them wanted him, I didn't think I'd get anything for him, but then they came in with £500k and I snapped their hand off for it ! And yeah, Weidenfeiller is good, but then for the money I was getting for him I got two or three players, so it was worth it.

August update
As I was given no transfer budget to spend no players, I had too sell too, but unfortunately, no-one anted my players, so I couldn't buy anybody.

Dortmund start the season with a win

Striker and left winger Dimitar Rangelov netted 2 penalties to help Dortmund on their way to a 3-1 victory over Mainz. Lukas Barrios put us ahead after just 5 minutes but Felix Alejandro Borja equlised midway throught the second half. But 2 Rangelov penalties late on gave us the win.

Bore draw against Freiburg

Jakub Blaszczykowskyi picked up the Man of the Match award after his fine performance at Signal Iduna Park. Freiburg kept Rangelov and Barrios quiet though and we failed to grab a goal, fortunately, our defence was watertight too.

Leverkusen too strong

Leverkusen striker Milos Krasic was foud unmarked at the back post from a cross b Renato Augusto. Krasic's free header was the only goal if the match, as Lukas Barrios had a poor game.

Vital Early Goal

Neven Subotic was congratulated after the match after his cracking 30 yard free kick clipped the post on it's way into the goal. Subotic's goal got Dortmund off to the perfect start as 9 minutes later, Tinga scored from a free header on the far post.

Managers note

Matt Teague said:
It was a good month, 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss, but that was to a very good side. We sit 4th in the league table.

German Cup

Damien Le Tallec sent us in our way to the German Cup second round after a fine 2-0 win over Elversburg. Sebastian Kehl got the ither from the penalty spot

For some reason, you have a different start to the season to me, I had Leverkusen, Munich, and Berlin all in a row! :O:P

I amn't using no patch, on't have a clue how to get them to work.

Mid-Season Update

Well, to sum up, it's been a fairly poor season for us so far. Actually, we've done not bad given the resoursces we were given to work with, and we're doing what was expected of us at the beginning of the season, I just expected us to do better than that. My stubborness in refusing to change tactic early on in the season where vital points were at stake cost us, and to my surprise when I allowed the team more creative freedom, they started moving up the table. Slowly but surely, we crept away from the dreaded relegation spots, and found ourselves near enough top half. Our problem this season has been goals, where we have relied on a pressurised Mohamed Zidan to deliver, and to his credit he has been reliable when called upon. Thomas Hajnal has been in fine form since being introduced to the team from injury, and has been our shining light this season, closely followed by Sebastian Kehl. My tactic this season has been, to well, keep changing tactics, as teams find us out fairly quickly.

It was only when we began the season, I realised how tight the Bundesliga is, and there truly isn't an easy game. This is how the league looks going into the winter break.

I told you it was tight ! Mid-table obscurity was the last thing on my mind when I was given the job, but it seems unlikely we will get any higher unless we start gaining consistency.

Finances

This is one area of the club that has improved since I took the helm. We actually have a transfer budget now, and our income this year is over 60 million, and our expenditure is half that figure.

I needed a forward and a winger, and both of these players were goingon the cheap, and both are inexpensive but talented acquisitions. Novo is backup, and Lafferty is Mohamed Zidans new strike partner. I may sign someone else because I have i million pounds left over but we shall see. TTFN :P

i like this story, good luck and keep up the good updates

Dortmund equal to HSV

Target Man Lucas Barrios scored the only Dortmund goal of the match in the 95th minute. Nuri Sahin got the assist as he slotted the ball across the 6 yard box for a unmarked Barrios to toe poke in. Jose Paolo Guerrero had put HSV ahead.

Dortmund head out of German Cup

Centre Back Felipe Santana scored an own goal to knock his own team out and put the Red and white of Freiburg into the next round. The own goal was unfortunate but somewhat deserved.

40 yard screamer in late goal thriller

Centre Forward Mohamed Zidan put Die Borussen ahead in the 26th minute but ageing German internstional star Torsten Frings equalised with a 25 yarder in the 82nd minute. Werder Bremen thought that goal was good but Sebastian Kehl's 88th minute 40 yarder rifled into the top corner of the net for a 2-1 victory.

Dortmund scrap to draw

Mark Van Bommel scored after 21 minutes when he scored a powerful volley on the edge of the box. Jakub Blaszykowski made it 1-1 a quarter of an hour later. Just after half time, German Legend Miroslav Klose put the capital city 2-1 up. Blaszykowskyi scored again with the last kick off the game as Dortmund grabbed a dramatic equaliser.

Koln hammered at home

Things didn't start well for Koln after Millivoje Novakovic got sent off with just 2 minutes on the clock. Dortmind failed to score until midway through the second half when Lucas Barrios put Dortmund ahead. 8 minutes later Marc Hummels scored and 5 minutes from the end, Sebastien Kehl made it 3.
