Rimini Calcio have won promotion to the Serie A and became Serie B champions after thrashing Mantova on the last game of the season, Rimini had secured promotion 3 games beforehand but beat Bari in the race to top spot. The Biancorossi's Manager Rudolf Martinez announced his delight by saying, "It is great news for this club, the fans and of course the players, it has been a frustrating time for the club as we have never played in the Italian top tier, I will do everything I can to ensure that Rimini remain in the Serie A next season".

Rimini Calcio Chairman Alessio Daniele said "I am delighted that the club has finally been promoted to the Serie A, I did not expect the side to win the League or even win promotion this season, it is a great surprise to see our club doing so well, I am looking forward to seeing Rimini mix with such team as Juventus, Roma and AC Milan. I shall do my best to offer Rudolf the best financial platform possible to ensure we can stay in the Serie A".

Rimini's highlight game of pre-season was the 4-1 victory over Serie A high flyers Roma.

Rimini Manager Rudolf Martinez believes his side an avoid relegation this season as they head into a Serie A clash with Lazio away from home, however, Martinez is facing a selection crisis as two of his three centre halfs are injured, this means that Marcus Gelabert will deputise alongside Kakha Kaladze.

Lazio 3 - 0 Rimini
Rimini's Serie A debut was marred by the centre back crisis that they had, Mauro Zarate tormented Gelabert for the whole game, Rimini managed to hold out until Marcelo Moreno broke the deadlock on 42 minutes poking home from a corner, in the second half, Moreno doubled his tally with a good finish inside the box before completing his hatrick after Gelabert was sent off for a second yellow, a dissapointing day for Rimini and there fans.

Rimini are left with no centre backs after centre half Kakha Kaladze was ruled out for three after picking up a knock against Lazio, Kaladze joins fellow centre halfs Jorge Garcia and Verkhovstev in the physio room, it is largely regarded that Rudolf Martinez will have to dip his hands in the transfer market once again.

Rimini complete the signing of Davide Zomboli from Bolton for 2.4 Million, the centre half was relieved to return to his home country, he was also joined by Udinese centre half Maurizio Domizzi who joins for 475k, Martinez was pleased to see his centre half position solid now.

Congratulations on promotion. Well done for sticking with them and rejecting QPR.

Well Done on Promotion Jack, but Serie A will be tough

Domizzi (pen), Miccoli
Rimini failed to captalize on there dominance as Cassano inspired Sampadoria, Rimini when one up through Domizzi penalty but Cassano took the game in to his own hands and scored a quickfire double, Andrea Poli then curled one into the top corner before Palombo's belter sealed the win, Miccoli managed to score in the 91st minute but it wasn't enough.

Rimini remain in search of there first Serie A point after three games.

Points at Last

Torino 2 - 2 Rimini
Cani (2)
Edgar Cani twice gave Rimini the lead against Torino but the Turin side battled through and equalised both times, Cani scored a well executed goal early on but was pegged back by Carlos Matheu, Cani once again gave Rimini the lead with a good header inside the box but a wonder goal from former Man City striker Bianchi meant the two sides shared the points.

Genoa 1 - 1 Rimini
Miccoli
Fabrizio Miccoli earned the Biancorossi a much needed point against a high flying Genoese side, he scored a placed shot on the 14th but Aquafresha equalise for the Genoese after seizing on Josh Lambo mistake, Lambo made up for his error with a string of world class saves to allow Rimini a very generous point.

Rimini move up to 17th place on 2 points, they next to games will be at the Romeo Neri stadium against AC Milan and Udinese.

Fantastic result getting promotion mate, glad you stuck with Rimini over QPR. Going to be tough in Serie A though, time to use that Burnley experience to your advantage! I'm sure you can do it and I'll be following.

(Good luck against the Rossineri!)

Tough Times

Rudolf Speaks

Rimini Manager Rudolf Martinez expressed his delight as he saw his side win away at Chievo, he said "I am thrilled for the boys, this win will hopefully give us the confidence to move up the table, we have given our competitor's a head start so there is a lot of ground to make up, I hope that we can perform like that in all our games, I admit we have been unlucky in other games but we can't stay up relying on luck". Martinez also praised striker Edgar Cani for his brace, he commented "Edgar is showing the ability that I saw in him when I watched him train at Palermo, he is definitely a player of pristine class and ability and will be important to us if we have any chance of staying up this season, if he can keep scoring, we can keep winning".

However, despite the win, Rimini are still lingering in the relegation places and Martinez announced "I am not happy with our overall performance in the League, I will be telling the lads to buck up there ideas if they think they can earn there wage like this, we have to improve if we want to succeed in this League and on current form, it doesn't look likely, the fans expect performances, the board expect performances and I expect performances because otherwise, the lads will not enjoy training on Monday morning".

Many critics have said that Rimini poor form is down to the injury plagued season of star striker Mattia Destro who has rarely figured this season due to a reccuring knee injury.

Rimini assistant and former AC Milan left back Fabio Grosso is likely to join Serie B side Frosinone as Manager in the next few days, the former Italy international announced that he will depart from Rimini soon.

Was that a 3-4 against AC? Looks like a classic match, unlucky though.

Update soon, had a little break but I have reloaded the save ;).
