A strong victory over the Czech champions to start off the group stages, with Viljanen bagging himself a brace to start off the group stages.

We put up a decent fight at the Etihad, especially after falling to a 3-0 deficit at half time. We fought back to 3-2 after 81 minutes but conceded one on the counter chasing the equalizer.

A second 4-1 win of the group stages for us, and a third goal in 3 group games for Viljanen. 2 of the other 2 goals came from Finnish players as well, with wingers Scheweleff and Tuomaala getting a goal each.

This is getting strange now. A third 4-1 win in 4 games from the boys and another goal from Viljanen! Scheweleff put in a man of the match performance and bagged a brace!

4-1, again? The funny thing is I didn't even realize this was a recurring theme in our results until I started to write this update out. XD A hatrick from Viljanen continues his amazing group stage form!

There wasn't much riding on this match as we would have needed to beat City by 3 to jump above them and win the group and that was never going to happen. However, this was still a cracking game and we were unlucky to get beat after taking the lead twice in the game!

We coasted into the knockout rounds after the first 4 games, but City dominated the group and won it quite easily. We've been drawn against Premier League leaders Chelsea in the next round, so it's looking unlikely we'll progress any further.

They couldn't make it to the knockout round for a second year running, but they did well to make it to the group stages and it should help once again with our European coefficient.

Hopefully, it would help if we could win a European competition to give the club reputation a big boost and attract new fans. But we're not good enough to win the CL at the moment and too good to finish 3rd in our CL group and fall into the Europa League, which I think we'd have a chance of winning.
 

Just another quick little update, Jesse Strandvall has been named the European golden boy. I imagine this is the first time a Finnish player has ever won a major individual award.

A decent year for the national team, taking 4 points from their first 3 qualifiers, with 2 of those games against Netherlands and Germany. The friendly draw against Macedonia was poor but they recovered well towards the end of the year with wins against the Swiss and Belarus.

We put up a decent fight against Chelsea and certainly didn't deserve to lose this game. Chelsea flew out of the blocks and maybe exposed a lack of match fitness in our team by scoring in just the 3rd minute. We did manage to level the game around 20 minutes later but Chelsea were far more clinical than us when they created their chances and that was the only difference between the teams.

Once again we were caught early by Chelsea as they scored after just 1 minute, a recurring theme in our knockout round games I feel. They got their second shortly after half time and although we pulled one back in the 76th minute, we never really were in touch of getting back in the tie. Again though, the game was a pretty even affair and it was only Chelsea's individual class which separated them from us.

We spend more than we bring in this year, but that is ok considering the money that we got for Strandvall last season. On the outgoings we let 3 players who have been key players for us at some point leave, however all had fallen out of favour in recent times and we wanted their wages off the books.

The two signings were both 4 and a half star potential centre midfielders who will both help to facilitate the change to a 4-2-3-1 for the upcoming season. The signing of Korean Bae-Joon had apparently seen a sharp raise in our merchandising sales in Korea, although I'm sure that wouldn't have been difficult!

It feels as though we are starting to transition out many of the players who have been in the first team for many years and it's nice to see so many players with decent potential to replace them.

Another League Cup trophy in the bag, racking up an impressive amount of goals in the process. We only had 13 players to choose from for the final as we had so many players travelling back from international duty, but it didn't matter as 4 goals from Scheweleff lead us to a 7-3 victory over Honka.

Not a 100% as we did only draw against HJK in the league, however we have been banging the goals in and the highlight result so far was a massive 11-0 win over MYPA, equalling the league record set by ROPS in 1991.

17 year old attacking midfielder Lehtonen, who only came through last years intake, has been outstanding when called upon so far and has 12 goals and 7 assists in 11 starts. We have 11 players averaging over an 8 rating, which goes to show how dominant we've been so far.

All of a sudden my player's values have jumped from in the hundreds of thousands to the millions. Not sure what caused the jump but I'm certainly not complaining, hopefully this will stop the glitch of me having to sell anyone over the age of 22 for peanuts!​

Who knows haha. I think he's 60 now so you would imagine he'd retire soon, but knowing my luck he'll not retire until he's 90! XD

11 wins from 11 over the two months, and without having to play European qualifiers anymore, it's proving to be even more plain sailing for us domestically. We're also on a run of 5 clean sheets, which would be nice to expand into August.

Kalle Lehtonen is having an unbelievable first season for the club after coming through last years youth intake, whilst Scheweleff is currently leading the race to be the club's top goalscorer for the season, with 27 goals from the left wing so far.

Averaging just under 4 a game, and if we keep that up throughout the season we will set a new record for goals scored in a league season...

Other News:

1) The Finnish Premier League is up to 13th in the competition rankings, just below the English Championship and ahead of the Greek and Scottish top divisions. The club has jumped a few places in the club coefficient rankins to 13th.

2) We sell English midfielder Mark Jackson for £1,800,000 after he fell down the pecking order, whilst we bring in a young winger on the free for the B team originally.

First ever time the league has had 3 sides make it into the European group stages! ROPS have been rewarded with a very difficult group and I doubt they'll pick up a point to be honest, but IFK should be competitive in their group, although it is unlikely they will progress.

Another 100% record over these 3 months, including some massive victories. Highlights are the 8-0 victory over MYPA and the 11-0 victory over VPS.

Markus Scheweleff finishes as top scorer from the left wing with 37 goals, with a great season from backup/young striker Ozokwo getting 28 goals in 26 games. Kalle Lehtonen's first season after coming through the youth system was an amazing one and he'll do well to top it in the rest of his career, as he got 24 goals and 17 assists in 29 starts, with an average rating of 8.15!

We still have managed that perfect season, as one 1-1 draw in May sees us drop 2 points. However, it is yet another unbeaten domestic season and we are now 197 league games without losing! Also, we set a new record for goals scored with 137 goals in 33 goals, averaging over 4 goals scored a game!
