FC Porto - Return To Glory

After a short search following the departue of their previous manager F.C Porto have turned to the reasonably unknown name of John Price to take the team forward. Price will sign a 1 year contract worth £6,250 per week and will be handed a transfer kitty of £14.78 million. In a brief statement released by Price he outlined the way in which he planned to take the club forward;

' I believe that Porto has both the financial backing and the fan base required to challenge among europes elite clubs, i intend to bring the glory days back to this City and return these fans and there club to the pinicle of world football'

Prices first job will be to instill his footballing philosophy to the players. It will be an interesting couple of months at F.C Porto while we wait to see how much Price intends to change the squad.

Porto Give Loan Opportunity To Promosing Pair

View attachment 306976View attachment 306975

Christian Atsu and Kelvin

Porto today parted company, all be it temporarily with two of their most promising youth players, the young attacking midfielder Kelvin agreed a years long loan to Fellow premier league side Aceademica while Christian Atsu will travel to Romania to meet up with FC Cluj for the same period of time. Mr Price had the following to say on the matter;

' Christian and Kelvin both have a big future in the game but their talents are raw at the moment, we are hoping that a season of continuous first team football will help the players develop their immense talents and when they return we will hopefully be able to integrate them into our squad.'

Rumours are that Lucho Gonzales has also been told he can leave by Mr Price, Lucho is on of the clubs most experienced players, but also the highest earner which shows that Price clearly wants to ensure the financial stability of the club before moving forward.

Lucho Departs For Paris

The first major talking point of the summer transfer window at FC Porto came today as Lucho Gonzales was shown the door in a 4.5 million pound move to PSG. Lucho was the clubs highest earner at 70k a week, almost 2 times that of the next largest wage.

With the proceeds from the transfer available to be spent rumours are flying around the club that a number of deals are close to being done. The main names being linked with FCP include the 3.5 million pound aquisition of Wellington Nem and a reported 7 million pound bid for the unsettled Willifred Bony in the pipeline. The next month at Porto will definately be an interesting one.

Adryan Arrives and Immediately Goes Out On Loan

When 18 year old Brazilian forward Adryan Oliviera Tavares signed for FC Porto i imagine he had intended to spend a little longer at the club, however this was not Mr Price' plan for the young man. No sooner had the ink dried on the contract and Adryan was on the move again agreeing a years long loan deal with Premier League outfit Vitoria Setubal. The loan move is intended to give the player some much needed first team football that will no doubt help his development. Adryan was not in Price's plans for this season and therefore it made sense for all parties for the deal to go ahead.

Thanks mate i will do. Im having issues putting screen shots on, any help? on how to do so?

Porto Show Great Pre Season Form

FC Porto began their season with some very strong results in their friendly fixtures. With wins against a strong AZ outfit and local teams tominzo and tourizense as well as a draw against one of the English Premier League elite Porto showed that they are without a doubt beginning to mould as a team under new manager John Price. The only negative from the pre season was a single goal loss to the clubs 'B' team, however Price found nothing but negatives from this game;

' The game was put on for the distinct reason that i wanted to take a closer look at all players available to me and i feel this was a sucess. I now have a better idea of which players will figure for the senior team this season as well as players who may emerge from the lowere levels within '

Pre season saw the first outings in the famous blue and white of Porto for Wellington Nem and Wilifried Bony who both arrived in multi million pound transfers from abroad. The fixtures were a chance for the current crop of players to show Price they deserve to keep their spots in the squad and Miguel Lopes showed some fine form that will no ensure his place in the starting XI come the 19th August against Moirerense.

Miguel Lopes made 5 appearances including one off the bench during pre season, contributing
4 assists and claiming one Man of the Match ffrom his position at right back.

FC Porto Plan Youth Improvements

During a press conference today Porto manager John Price revealed that after a meeting with the club chairman Pinto Da Costa the two agreed to a redevelopment of the youth facilities at the club. It is believed that the plan will improve the facilities available to the youth players at the club and will cost an estimated £2.7 million pounds. The move clearly shows Prices' desire to utilise Portos once illustrious youth system to feed players into the fist team. The club released the following statement on the clubs official website.

Porto Show Great Form For August

As the first month of the season draws to an end John Price can look back at August as a very successful first month in charge. During the month Porto racked up 3 wins in 3 games including taking the Supertaca crown. Portos great form was in no small part down to the attacking threat they possess, Bony, Nem and Valera all chipped in with 2 goals each to show that when it comes to adding the finishing touch, Porto are right on point.

Supertaca

FC Porto 2 - Academica 0 Goals : Valera, Moutinho

Premier League

Moreirense 1 - FC Porto 4 Goals : Bony (2), Valera, Rodriguez

FC Porto 3 - Rio Ave 1 Goals : Wellington Nem (2), Maicon

The stand out player over the first month for FC Porto was their 7 million pound new signing Wilifried Bony, contributing 2 goals in 2 appearances over the month including a Man of the match performance in Portos first league game of the season. Price will be hoping that his new striker will continue to provide the fire power as they push towards the title.

Fc Porto Handed Tough Champions League Group

FC Porto will go into group F of this seasons Champions league knowing that the chances of them progressing to the latter stages depend on whether or not they can get a result against either Juventus or Man City. Although the Champions league isnt Price' main target for the season he will be well aware as to the revenue a run in this cup can produce and will be sure to try his upmost to ensure their safe passage.

The fans are no doubt likely to be excited about the draw as it will mean legendary players such as Sergio Aguero, Andrea Pirlo and Gianluigi Buffon may be visiting the Estadio De Dragao in the coming months.

Window Closes on a busy Summer Transfer Window

As the clock strikes 12 any deals not yet finalised will have to wait until January, with that being said FC Portos manager has released the finer details of his transfer window dealings.

The main talking point during the transfer window eas the acquisition of Ivorian striker Wilifired Bony for the sum of 7 million pounds. Price had described the deal as 'a bargain' and seemed upbeat about the strikers ability to settle straight into the squad. This was justified within the first month of the strikers stay at Porto with 2 goals in his first 2 games.

Other signings include exciting brazilian trio Wellington Nem, Adryan and Ademilson. The trio costin excess of 10 million but Price was defiant when the price was questioned, 'All three players are destined for greatness, i am positive that their values will soar over the coming seasons and you will all se my investment was prudent'. Adryan and Ademilson will spend te year away on loan to gain valuable first team experience. The only others signing was the 2 million pound of Portugese midfielder Adrien who we believed was signed to add depth to the squad.

On the other hand there was only one player who permenantly left Porto this transfer window, the much publicised sale of Lucho Gonzales grabbed headlines in August, the money and wages freed up by this deal allowed Price more room to manouvure in the window.

All that is left to be seen now is whether or not Price' judgement when it comes to purchasing players is good enough to see FC Porto to victory this year. To have your say on whether Price has played his cards right please feel free to post.

FC Porto Continue 100% Start

It was a very successful month for Price and his Porto team, racking up a maximum 5 wins. The team performed above and beyond expectations for the majority of the month scoring 17 and conceading just 3. It was a month that shot Wilifried Bony to FC Porto hero status as he bagged 6 goals in the 5 games. The highlight of the month was a visit from Italian champions Juventus, Price' men took the opportunity to show they mean business in the competition by running out clear 4-1 winners in a one sided affair.

Premier League

Nacional De Madeira 0 FC Porto 3 Goals: Bony (2), Valera

FC Porto 2 Estoril 1 Goals: Fernando, Maicon

Martimo 1 FC Porto 3 Goals: Valera, Otamendi, Fernando

FC Porto 5 P. Ferreira 0 Goals: Bony (2), Moutinho, Rodrigues, Alex Sandro

Champions League

FC Porto 4 Juventus 1 Goals: Rodrigues, Bony(2), Moutinho

Player Of The Month

For a second consecutive month Porto's Ivorian striker Wilifired Bony took the accolade of POTM. The striker showed stunning form to bag 6 goals in just 5 games as well as 3 player of the match performances. Bony's form has gone a long way to prove Price's judgement in signing the striker for 7 million pounds was right.

Any opinions on my story would be welcome? Advice on how to improve it, whether its good reading? etc...

It's good mate you should win quite a bit with Porto Moutinho is especially class. Can you check out either of my United stories.

Porto Win Battle Of Etihad To Stun Europe!!

View attachment 307382View attachment 307381

Man City 2 FC Porto 3

Tevez '51 Bony '2 '52
Maicon '61 Rodriguez '5

Porto Took complete control of Group F in the champions league with a shock 3-2 win over group favourites Manchester City. Price sent his team out onto the field with one distinct message 'Stop City Playing!!' an this plan seemed to work from the outset with the 3 man Porto midfield of Defour, Moutinho and Fernando getting in the faces of the opposition.

It took Porto just 2 minutes to take a surprise lead when hitman wilifried Bony popped up to turn in a Valera cross, Porto fans and players alike were sent into raptures by the strike. Moments later another turning point in the game fell to Porto, Bony was taken down in the area on the 5 minute mark and Rodrigues made no mistake fromthe spot. Having taken a demanding lead Port ad to soak up a large amount of pressure but with the help of a strong back line they held on to a slender lead until half time.

The second half began much as the first, large amounts of pressure from Man City meant that Porto had to defend to a man. Porto's defence was finally breeched on the 51st minute mark when some neat play from Sergio Aguero saw Tevez turn in after a parried save from Fabiano. The goal did not deter Porto however and on the 52nd minute mark the ball was cleared to Moutinho on the edge of the area, an exquisit 60 yard pass freed Bony who raced clear, rounded Hart and slotted home to send Porto into dreamland and a restablished their 2 goal lead.

Moments later City won a corner which was turned in at the near post by Brazilian defender Maicon, but this was as good as it would get for City. Despite 30 minutes of constant pressure Price managed to mastermind a solid defence that got Porto over the line and helped them take control of their group.

Wilifried Bony's performance was one that deserved a MOTM award, however he was pipped by Porto's busiest player on the day, Goalkeeper Fabiano. Price described the keepers performance as the 'most complete' goalkeeping performance he had ever seen.

Fabiano was in fine form against City

Next up for Porto in Group F is the vist of Gladbach, a game that most people are saying should be a walk over for Porto given their early season form.

Great start you've had there mate! Congrats. How's Adrien getting on? He's a player I've always liked on FM. Keep up the good work and good luck.

Thanks mate, yeah its my best start to any save o FM13 so far. Still unbeaten and gonna put my October summary on now. Adrien is struggling to claim a place in my midfield. With Fernando and Defour at Dm and Valera, Rodriguez, Moutinho and Nem in AM hes got some stiff competition. Moutinho is out atm tho so he will get his chance

Still a very good core to the team, even with Moutinho out. Definitely got a follower in me.

FC Continue Fine Form Into October

FC Porto continued their fine form in a month that showed Price's attacking ethos is working. Price led Porto to 4 wins in 5 tough games over the course of the month of October. The highlight of the month was a 3-2 victory away in the champions league to Manchester City, with the only points dropped in the month being away to Sporting Lisbon in the league. Porto scored a total of 10 goals in the month and conceded just 3 at the other end.

Premier League

Sporting Lisbon 0 FC Porto 0

FC Porto 2 SL Benfica 0 Goals: Valera (2)

Champions League

Manchester City 2 FC Porto 3 Goals: Bony (2), Maicon

FC Porto 1 Gladbach 0 Goals: Fernando

Taca De Portugal

Player Of The Month

This month was a very strong month for a number of the FC Porto players, but one have shone brighter than their 24 year old goalkeeper Fabiano. The pinacle of Fabianos month was his MOTM performance against Manchester City in the champions league. Fabiano has been keeping veteran keeper Heilton out of the team since Price took over in July and it seems he is making a big impact on the English manager.
