Pre Season Report

Perfect Pre Season For United .... Almost

Manchester United were just one goal away from recording a perfect pre season after taking 6 wins from 7 pre season friendlies. The only draw came in a one all with Sheffield United in a game that Price would have been dissapointed with. United were rampant up front scoring 21, but also conceding a hefty total of 6 against teams that united would have been confident of shutting out.

Transfer Summary

United have been busy in the transfer window so far with more faces leaving the club. Price has only brought in players for the future with all four of his signings aged 18 and lower. The clearout at the club came as no surprise with Price expressing his desire to improve the Youth system of the club, its clear that Price has great faith in the players already at the club.

Key Players

This season as well as fielding a very experienced, strong side Price looks set to continue his faith in his trio of Young Devils with Jose Maia, Mark Bartlett and Mariano Andreu set to figure as key players in the Englishmens squad.

View attachment 324115

Maia has followed Price from Porto where he rose through the youth system and was given his first professional contract by the current United manager. Maia has made 51 league appearances for United in the last two seasons after arriving for a large transfer fee of £20 million in 2015. At the age of 19 the young man has been given 9 caps by the Portugese national team which shows just how good he is seen to be.

Mark Bartlett is a product of the United youth academy but wasnt given a league debut until Price took over at the club, he was a regular in the League and Champions league winning team last season and has been rewarded for his form with 3 caps for his native Wales.

Mariano Andreu was a player that Price initially tried to sign to FC Porto, but the player felt the move wasnt right for him at the time, but when Price approached the Spaniard with a professional contract in 2015, this time as United manager the youngster signed within the day. A product of the Barcelona La Masia Andreu spent the last two seasons on loan at Cardiff in thePremier league scoring 27 times.

August 2017 - Monthly Review

Tough Month For The Champions

United started the season off with silverware but stuttered in the league as they are yet to record a win in their defence of the Barclays premier League. United scored three goals during the month and conceded the same amount, with price putting their poor form down to the lack of goals scored by their usually prolific strikeforce. Next month will need to see a change in their form before their fellow title contenders start to build a gap over them.

Community Shield

13.8.17
Manchester United 2 Stoke City 1
Balotelli ('33 OG), Henriquez ('88)

United made hard work of their most recent trip to Wembley, their job was made harder when Thiago was sent off after 68 minutes but young Chilean striker Henriquez came off the bench in the second half to score a late winner that means Price has now won 15 trophies in 5 seasons as a manager and 7 in just over two seasons with United.

Premier League

20.8.17
Manchester United 0 Arsenal 1

United will be left wondering just how they managed to lose this one, when in fact the answer is clear.... a very poor decision by the referee, who awarded a penalty for a handball offence that was at least 5 yards outside of the area. Despite that United never looked themselves today with no cutting edge despite their usual midfield dominance.

26.8.17
Hull City 1 Manchester United 1
Neymar ('16)

Manchester Uniteds faltering start continued away to Hull City, with Neymars early stroke being cancelled out before half time. With 4 days before the transfer window closes it will be interesting to see whether price dips into the market to solve his problems.

August 2017 - Transfer Roundup

United Show Seniors The Door

The Summer transfer window in the Premier league was a busy one during the summer of 2017 with Manchester United building a squad towards the future. The summer began with a clearout of the older players in the squad with most of the over 30's leaving as well as a couple of players Price deemed surplus to requirements.

View attachment 324282

Outs

The two main big names leaving the club this summer were long term United servants Rooney and Kagawa who left for Spain in deals worth £4 and £22.5 million respectively. The first of the two joined Uniteds Super Cup opponents Athletico Madrid and was joined by Higuain, ademilson and Pogba. The other player leaving was Florenzi who also left for Spain and joined Sevilla.

Ins

United didnt make any massive signings in the transfer window with just 5 players joining the club, four of which signed before the season was underway. The final player to sign was 17 year old left back Carlos Arevalo who joined from Real Madrids junior outfit Castilla. The youngster cost Price a hefty 16 million which shows the importance he places on bringing in the best youth players for his club.

August 2017 - Champions League Draw

Straight Forward Group For United

View attachment 324292View attachment 324293View attachment 324294View attachment 324295

Manchester United, Marseille, Zenit, Werder Bremen

Manchester United were handed a reasonably easy draw in todays Champions league group stage draw. They will need to avoid complacency in order to overcome the champions of both France and Russia in the shape of Marseille and Zenit St Petersburg. Price will be aiming to reach his fourth successive final, something that has never been done before by a manager.

So 3 games into the season, the transfer window shut, group stage drawn and aside from the bad start in the league im confident of a sucessful season.

What you think guys?....

September 2017 - European Super Cup

Price Lifts Debut Super Cup

Athletic Madrid 2 Manchester United 3
Andreu ('13, '57), Neymar ('90+2)

Even though Price has been to the last three Champions league finals winning the first and third this was his first appearence in the European Super cup having missed out on the opportunity with Porto when he joing United. His debut cup final turned out to be a dramatic yet happy one as United overcame an Athletic team that fielded no less than 5 former United players. Twenty yer old striker Andreu was the stand out player on the say scoring twice before Brazilian Neymar scored a late winner in dramatic fashion as the game looked to be heading to extra time.

This is Uniteds second trophy of the season already having taken the community shield a few weeks ago and Price will be looking to better Barcelonas tally of 5 trophies during the year of 2009 and take 6 trophies this year.

Steady Month For United

Manchester United finally managed to steady the ship during the month of september with 4 wins and a penalty shoot out loss in their 5 games during the month. Scoring 10 and conceding 4 goals during the month meant that the United strikers began to find their shooting boots which will go a long way to helping United reel in the league leaders. The month also saw Price claim his first ever Super cup win on a spendid night in Paris when a late Neymar goal sealed the win for Price's team.

European Super League

1.9.17
Athletic Madrid 2 Manchester United 3
Andreu ('13, '57), Neymar ('90+2)

United will count themselves lucky to win this game in normal time but Price wont mind as it sees his team take their second trophy of the season in a welcome break from the Premier league. Andreu arrived on the scene with a bang with a brace that is sure to give Price a few selection dilemmas.

Premier League

16.9.17
Manchester United 1 Everton 0
Grenier ('75)

Price's boys were lucky to take all three points from this game as their league form continues to stutter. Grenier popping up with a rare goal to rescue the win and sent United the right way up the table. Not the greatest performance but three points never the less.

30.9.17
Wolves 0 Manchester United 3
Henriquez ('41), Andreu ('52), Damiao ('74)

United finally click into gear in the Premier league with an accomplished performance and result to go with it. All three of uniteds strikers on the day got in on the act as United rose to the top half of the Premier league at last.

Champions League

19.9.17
Olympique Marseille 0 Manchester United 1
Neymar ('82)

Another narrow win for United with a more likely scorer in the shape of brazilian legend Neymar. The win means that they take control of their group with the other game ending in a draw. United are stuttering at the start of this season and will be hoping they click into gear sooner rather than later.

Carling Cup

26.9.17
Tottenham Hotspurs 2 Manchester United 2 AET
Tottenham Win on Penalties and advance to the next round
Damiao ('65), Thiago ('80)

In the 90th minute United were going through to the next round of the cup but Bale's 93rd minute goal sent the game to extra time and towards uniteds imminent exit from the competition through penalties. United put in a great performance to come back from an early deficit but just couldnt see the game out

Manchester United - The Next Chapter
A Night With John Price

The New Special One?

Almost 5 years ago to the day a fresh faced 26 year old man was introduced to the world as the new manager of FC Porto, that man was no other than ..... John Price. Having no previous coaching experience and only a semi professional playing career to his name Price stumbled upon the job whilst shadowing the then FC Porto manager, Price was then advisor to the chairman of the club who shpwed great faith in giving him the position of First team manager at the beginning of the 2012/13 season, and thats where the magic began.

FC Porto 2012/13

Price took over at the club and immediately showed his desire to change the way the club saw football, to change the clubs entire attitude about the way in which the game should be played. Price created the idea of the team working as two units, attack and defence but that all players would have to be able to adapt and contribute to both phases. Price emphasised this by bringing in both Wilifried Bony and Wellington Nem to be his main attacking threat and Simao in the hert of his midfield as his general.

Awards - League and Supertaca Champions

FC Porto 2013/14

The second season saw Price build on the team he had moulded to his style of football and add some of the world class flair that would be required to take them to the next stage, Gotze, schurrle and what proved to be Price's best bit of business Destro were brought in as well as youngsters Koke, Ginter and Andersen who would go on and prove themselves to be more than adequate cover for the now world class squad. Porto were clearly an improved team this season and showed that by reaching the latter stages of the champions league after qualifying from a tough group.

Awards - League, Taca De Portugal and Supertaca Champions

FC Porto 2014/15

Having established his masterplan and put into place a strong team that would be good enough to challenge on all fronts his third seson in charge was seen as make or break, and it was evident from the outset that it would be a memorable one for Price and his Porto team. He added a world class keeper to the team in the shape of ter Stegen and from the beggining of the season they showed their domestic dominance by bagging 5 goals plus on numerous occasions. From the outset of prices tenure he stated that his ultimate dream was the champions league, and after a stuttering group stage they managed to find their flow in the knockouts, Price lived his dream on a night in May during the 2014/15 season when Porto overcame Bayern Munich to lift the champions league for only the third time in their history.

Awards - League, Champions League and Supertaca Champions

.....6 days after lifting the Champions League with FC Porto Price resigned from his role as manager of the first team and just 2 hours later was announced as the heir to Sir Alex Fergusons throne at Old Trafford....

Manchester United 2015/16

Having taken over from a legend at old trafford Price made it immediately clear that things were to be done his way, by selling a number of their established first team such as Fletcher, Van Persie, Nani and Cabaye Price put his stamp on the way in which he wanted to run the club spending a massive 134 million pound in order to add both youth and depth to a tired and ageing squad. It wasnt the dream season Price had hoped for as they managed to reach the champions league final, only to be beten in a dramatic final that saw heartache for the english team. The season also saw his return to his old employers as he dumped them out of the champions league at the knockout stages, a tense ans emotional affair showed that Price's decision to leave was justified.

Awards - FA Cup and Community shield Champions

Manchester United 2016/17

Price went into the 16/17 campaign much more confident in his squad and the players at his disposal, by adding experienced players such as Santon, Ganso, Holtby and Higuain Price ensured he had a team that wasnt just capable of reaching the champions league final again, but winning it..... and they did just that. From the outset of the season his team destroyed everything in their paths and ended up recording an historic treble, narrowly missing out on adding the FA cup to his growing list of trophies.

Awards - League Cup, Champions League, Premier League and Community shield Champions

This season may not have started as well as price would have liked but he has already added the Super Cup and another Community shield to his already impressive array of title, at the age of just 31 he has a staggering 16 winners medals to his name. At this rate its difficult to see where it will end........

Role Of Honour

League Titles - 4
League Cups - 1
National Cups - 2
Community Shields - 6
Super Cups - 1
Champions Leagues - 2

Individual Awards - 30

So whats your opinion on John Price so far, is he the latest in a long string of managers who see glory and fade away, or could he possibly be .... the new Special One?

Im reading with interest i think your problem is that you have the title as Porto still so people are not going to know its a Man Utd story plus dont ask about people following and things like that it puts me off commenting if you are constantly asking

Just been back through this story and proud of what I achieved with Porto and the calibre of player I was able to bring in, Gotze and Schurrle were brilliant signings. Cant believe it has over 21,000 views that's awesome but unfortunately the file corrupted and I lost the save :/ as i'm now on a gap year in Oz I was thinking of doing a story based in Australia, anybody interested in me doing a new story and if so has anybody any good ideas for one based in OZ?
