Manchester United - The Next Chapter May 2016 - End Of Season Review
Price will Look For Improvement In Second Season
Now that the curtain has drawn on Mr Price's first season in charge of Manchester United he can look back an recculect on the fact it saw him claim his first silverware as the United Boss, however it will more than likely leave him with more questions than answers. The second half of the season was definately an improvement from Price's team which will definately give him encouragement that his team can push from the off next season.

Manchester United - The Next Chapter July 2016 - Press Release
Price Aims For Domestic Dominance
During a Press conference with the Manchester Evening News Manchester United Manager laid out his intentions for the coming season;
' Last season was seen as a success by many for my first year in the Premier league, with 2 domestic cups and a runner up spot in the League and champions league its safe to say the team lived up to some of the hype, but for me, it wasnt good enough. The main problem should be laid at my door as i didnt prepare the squad well enough before the season and we were caught rather thin around Christmas with the heavy fixture list'.
So will this season be different from the last?
'This season will be different, we are more than prepared with the team that finished last season as well as a couple of additions, Santon has come in to give Rafael and Smalling a run for their money at full back for starters and we are looking at finishing a few more deals before the deadline.'
Do you think winning in Europe is a realistic ambition this season?
'Our primary focus will be on the three main domestic competitions this season as i believe that in order to achieve European dominance we must first take full control of the domestic scene. This was my plan at FC Porto and it took 3 seasons to win Europe. Ive set the team the same three year challenge to win the champions league and after one year i feel we are closer to achieving this than this time last season.'
Price has made it crystal clear that his focus is Domestic this season and that anything else will simply be a bonus. Having already won a champions league its remained to be seen whether he can become just the fourth man to do it with two different clubs.
It was Manchester United who layed down the law to city in the traditional season opener as the beat them at a canter by two goals to nil. United took the lead early on after the majority of possesion resulted in Damiao scoring a 30 yard screamer. The next goal came half way through the second half when Italian youngster Lopez pounced on an error by Joe Hart to put the game beyond City. United will be hoping this will be a sign of things to come as Price takes his 5th successive national super cup trophy.
Manchester United - The Next Chapter August 2016 - Monthly review
Consistency key For United In August
There were no thrills this month for United fans, just hard earned points and table topping consistency. The new signings started to gel with the rest of the team and the back line gave less away than Scrooge at christmas. It really was a joy to watch United this month especially in the final game of the month against Swansea when they were unbelievable.
Premier League
13.8.16 Manchester United 1 Hull City 0 Neymar '25 Pen
Not quite the start Price would have had in mind but a win never the less. A scrappy affair that was turned on one penalty and one red card decision, both going in favour of United. Price will be happy that the season starts with a win and a clean sheet to go with it but there was a certain amount of creativity lacking in the display.
20.8.16 Norwich City 0 Manchester United 1 Rooney '85
Another stuttering performance from United but once again its a win and a clean sheet in a game that they could so easily have taken nothing from. Rooney was this time the hero of the hour with a late winner, the Englishman trying his best to stake a claim for a starting spot amongst a quartet of top class strikers.
28.8.16 Manchester United 1 Swansea 0 Thiago '65
The scoreline definately doesnt do this game justice as United were absolutely brilliant. Hotlby slotting into the midfield like he was made for the job and the only downfall from the game being the inability to finish the chances. This lack of goals so far this season could tempt Price into the market one more time.
Community Shield
7.8.16
Final Manchester United 2 Manchester City 0 Damiao '28, Lopez '67
United show that they really do mean business this season with a superlative performance in the season opener. Lopez scoring in the first game of the season justifies the manager including him in the squad and will hope to stake a claim to maintain this spot. The bench did look rather thin however with not much fire power to come off it.
John Price was not shy in spending big to ensure that his team had the best possible chance of challenging this season by bringing in 4 multi million pound signings.
The biggest of these signings is Brazilian playmaker Ganso who joined for a fee that could rise to as much as £50,000,000 depending on games and add ons. Price clearly felt this was a signing that would improve the team as it is his biggest ever signing as a manager. Also signed for the central midfield position was Lewis Holtby from fellow premier league team Chelsea for just under 20 million. The german midfielder will be hoping he can make a bigger impact here than he did at Stamford Bridge.
The other two big signings wer Davide Santon and Gonzalo Higuain for a combined fee of £20,000,000, the two players were brought in as rotation players to add depth to both the full back and striker positions at the club. Higuain was signed on deadline day after United Only managed to score 5 goals in the first 4 games of the season despite dominating all of their games.
United also brought in a number of youth players that look set for a bright future at the club and Price had to move fast to secure their signatures.
Leaving the club on the other hand during the month were Tom Hudlestone and Danny Welbeck who clearly didnt figure in Price's plans and left for a combined fee of £30,000,000.
Manchester United - The Next Chapter September 2016 - Monthly Review
Unbreakable United March On
In a month where United had to face 4 tough away games including trips to Arsenal, Liverpool and To Holland to face PSV United would only have dreamt that they would take maximum points during the month. The fact that they only conceded one goal during this month will be seen as a bonus. Price this season seems to have his team thoroughly organised at the back which means that they only require one goal to win the game. Going into the Christmas period its vital that his team do not see a repeat of last year when they struggled.
Premier League
11.9.16 Manchester United 3 Aston Villa 0 Neymar ('10 Pen, '45+1 Pen), Jones ('90+4)
A convincing display from United with the scoreline being just about right in the end. Neymar continued his perfection from the spot making it 3 penalties scored this season and the United defence ket yet another clean sheet.
18.9.16 Arsenal 0 Manchester United 1 Ademilson ('90+2)
Once again the United defence were outstanding today, bringing Vidic in for the big game proved a stroke of genius by Price and the late winner was nothing less than they deserved for such a strong performance. Ademilson chipping in with another big goal for United this season.
24.9.16 Liverpool 0 Manchester United 1 Zouma ('82)
Manchester United are the form of their lives under the management of John Price this season making it nine straight clean sheets and not conceding any goals at all this season in competetive and non competetive games. This time it was Kurt Zouma who scored the winner in another tough game this month. At this rate its difficult to see them being stopped.
Champions League
14.9.16 Manchester United 2 Marseille 0 Neymar ('53 Pen), Ademilson ('77)
Another straight forward and professional win for United, and another clean sheet to go with it as they start the champions league off on a high note. Their Brazilians were the ons who needed thanking for providing the goals this time round with another penalty for Neymar.
27.9.16 PSV 1 Manchester United 2 Lopez ('42), Thiago ('82)
United finally concede this season, an early goal that could have seen their defence collapse, but the experience of Nemanja Vidic and strength of Zouma ensured that the mistake wasnt repeated. United did eventually battle back with two great individual goals that see them take complete control of their group.
Capital One Cup
20.9.16 Brentford 0 Manchester United 2 Bartlett ('4), Lopez ('32)
United used the opportunity to give debuts to some of their youth players and they definately didnt let him down with a competent performance against Brentford. Another clean sheet for thr club that seem to be unbreakable at the back this season.
This months award doesnt go to just one man, it goes to three members of the United back line, De Gea, Vidic and Zouma have been brilliant over the month with Vidic being particularly impressive. The 34 year old has been called upon in the absence of Santon and Jones and hasnt failed to impress for Price.
Manchester United - The Next Chapter October 2016 - Monthly Review
Tought Month For United
Manchester United were hit by the same problem that hit them last season, their inability to turn draws into wins. With 2 league draws this month it meant that the gap at the top of the table dissapeared and United fell below neighbours City on goal difference. United managed to advance in the League cup and take great strides to qualifying from their champions league group thanks in part to the goals of Wayne Rooney.
Premier League
2.10.16 Manchester United 3 Chelsea 0 Neymar ('10), Ganso ('30), Grenier ('82)
Complete dominance from the in form team in England at the moment with an easy win against a weak Chelsea team. As bad as Chelsea were, United were good with a first goal since his summer signing for Ganso.Un ited start the month just as they had finished the previous with a league wina and another clean sheet.
15.10.16 Burnley 1 Manchester United 1 Grenier ('36)
Manchester United finall drop points and concede in the league this season after a dissapointing showing against Burnley. Price will not be happy that his team were unable to break down the Burnley back line more than once and will no doubt be letting his side know this.
22.10.16 Stoke 1 Manchester United 1 Santon ('55)
Another two points dropped for United and the second time in two weeks that they have had to come from behind. Price will be hoping that this mini blip from United can be corrected as soon as possible. United remain top of the league but the gap is decreasing.
29.10.16 Manchester United 2 Reading 1 Rooney ('3, '66)
Manchester United end the month the way in which they started it, with a home win in the league. Another brace from Rooney this month meant that a late goal from Reading was simply a consilation.
Champions League
18.10.16 Manchester United 3 Werder Bremen 2 Damiao ('3), Rooney ('12, '26)
This should have been a far more straight forward game for United, and after half an hour it was. But with two mistakes in the second half it meant that Price's men were made to sweat at the end of the game. The result however does mean that another win will ensure that United advance from the group.
Capital One Cup
25.10.16 Newcastle 1 Manchester United 2 AET Powell ('15), Ademilson ('101)
Not United's finest performance but a win none the less. A first goal of the season for Nick Powell who put in a very impressive performance behind the front two. United wont have wanted to go the whole 120 minutes with them still being involved in all competitions but Price's kids got the job done eventually.
This month saw United's longest serving member claim the player of the month award. Wayne Rooney put in a number of game winning performances over the month scoring 4 goals.
Manchester United - The Next Chapter November 2016 - Monthly Review
Same Problem For United
Manchester United suffered the same problem that plagued them last season, the cursed draws. In a month that saw them play 8 games they drew 4 of them and won the rest. During this time they scored 16 goals and conceded 6. United stayed in touch at the top of the league during the month however which will please Price, but it was the month of December last season that Price had credited for losing the league so he will be fully focused going into it.
Premier League
5.11.16 Southampton 0 Manchester United 0
Manchester United will not be happy that they were unable to break down the defence of Southampton. Price said that the league was lost last year due to too many draws and he will be hoping that his team dont make a habit of it again this season.
12.11.16 Cardiff City 1 Manchester United 5 Neymar ('12 Pen, '19), Kagawa ('38), Zouma ('47, '72)
United were truly irresistable today scoring five times and it could have been so many more. Neymar in particular was brilliant scoring twice and proving to be a pain for the Cardiff defence for the full 90 minutes. After the goaless draw against Southampton Price will be happy that his team are back on track. 19.11.16 Manchester United 3 Newcastle United 0 Damiao ('19, '70), Neymar ('42)
Another virtuoso performance from United Brazilian contingent, with Naymar and Damiao chipping in with goals and Ganso pulling the strings in midfield. Newcastle were no match for the now league leaders who leep above City who were beaten away to Norwich today.
23.11.16 Manchester United 1 Tottenham Hotspurs 1 Kagawa ('29)
This top of the table clash was decided by a disallowed goal scored by Robert Lewendowski, Tottenham felt the goal should have stood but the Polish striker clearly impeeded Zouma in scoring a powerful header. United failed to impress during the game and were lucky to escape with even a point.
27.11.16 West Brom 0 Manchester United 1 Kagawa ('38)
A narrow win for United in their final league game of the month that ensures they stay top. Kagawa came in for the injured Ganso and made a real impact, converting Zouma's wayward header past the West brom keeper. Price will now have the opportunity to rest players for the visit of PSV.
Champions League
2.11.16 Werder Bremen 1 Manchester United 1 Neymar('77)
Going to Germany is always a tough task and Uniteds Trip to Bremen was no exception. Neymar put United into a late lead but they were unable to hold on. The other results in the group, and United head to head record against Bremen means that they advance from the group after 4 games.
15.11.16 Marseille 1Manchester United 1 Zouma ('74)
United put out a weakened team for their trip to France, and their performance showed it. Going behind early on didnt help matters but the young and inexperienced team dug deep and managed to rescue a point that will help to ensure they qualify top of their group.
30.11.16 Manchester United 4 PSV 2 Powell ('27), Lopez ('35, '64), Vidic ('44)
Another Competent performance from United sees them advance as group leaders in the champions league. This will hopefuly result in them having a more favourable draw in the next round. Lopez returns to the starting lineup with a bang scoring twice and setting up Vidic's header from a corner.
It was another supreme month for Uniteds Defensive general Kurt Zouma, as well as establishing himself as a key player for the French national team this season he has also ensured that he is the first name on John Price's team sheet. During the month Zouma found the net three times, proving that he isnt just a rock at the back, he is also a threat in front of goal.
Manchester United - The Next Chapter December 2016 - Monthly Review
Brilliant Month For United
Manchester United banished the memories of last December with an almost perfect month this time around. With 5 wins and 2 draws during the month United opened out a 7 point lead at the top of the league and are now in a commanding position. Argentinian striker took up a pivotal role in the United team this month scoring five goals including a vital goal in the Manchester Derby.
Premier League
4.12.16 Fulham 0 Manchester United 2 Neymar ('8), Lopez ('29)
Manchester is taking over the Premier league this season, with City and United putting a series of brilliant performances such as this one in. United were a plessure to watch today and ended up running out comfortable winners with their two pocket rockets doing the damage. A great start to the month for them.

Capital One Cup
7.12.16
Quater Final Manchester United 1 Tottenham Hotspurs 1 AET
(Manchester United win 4-3 on Penalties) Powell ('116)
With both teams resting players due to their involvment in the title chase this was a chance to see some of their potential stars in action. The game was always set to got all the way from the outset with both team cancelling each other out in midfield and therefore not many chances were created. It was united's youngsters who held their nerve in the shootout and they advance to face Arsenal in the semis.
Gonzalo Higuain has finally arrived in Manchester 4 months after his transfer, with 5 goals over the course of the month the Argentinian has been vital in United taking a nice lead in the league.
