Manchester United - The Next Chapter
January 2017 - Monthly review

Can They Be Stopped?

After another fine month in which United took 6 wins and kept 6 clean sheets out of a possible 8 games the question is now being asked... Can anybody stop them? It may have taken Price 18 months but it seems the quality and the depth his squad possesses may be too much for fellow title contenders City to cope with. United drew away to Chelsea and lost in the second leg of a league cup tie they had already rapped up so the month of January was a very happy one for the Red Devils.

Premier League

11.1.17
Manchester United 2 Arsenal 0
Zouma('12), Damiao ('52)

A repeat of the scoreline from just a month ago, but this time it will mean much more to United as it keeps their gap at the top of the league at 7 points. Another dominant performance from the red devils as they march onwards towards a glorious season.

14.1.17
Aston Villa 0 Manchester United 2
Thiago ('64), Damiao ('83)

Manchester United ensure that before City next play they face a 10 point gap. It was a late showing by United who didnt really get going until the second half, but Aston Villa offered very little in the way of attacking threat. Avoiding relegation may be difficult for the midlands club if they dont show more heart than they did today.

24.1.17
Chelsea 1 Manchester United 1
Jones('44)

Taking a point from the Bridge is always considered a strong result, and this is no different as Chelsea seemed t be the stronger of the two teams. United went behind early on but the goal was cancelled out by a powerful header from English defender Jones. Price also took the opportunity to let Damion Willis to make his league debut, the 16 year old played as United have injury problems in the full back position.

28.1.17
Manchester United 3 Liverpool 0
Lopez('48), Jones ('64), Neymar ('87)

United end the month on a high note after they dismiss Liverpool in a splendid second half showing. They now keep the pressure on City who are ten points behind with 2 games in hand. If United continue to play like this though its difficult to see anybody catching them.

Captial One Cup

4.1.17
Semi Final First Leg
Manchester United 2 Arsenal 0
Damiao ('12, '72 Pen)

A nice easy first leg for United means that they can be confident going into the away leg. Damiao continues his recent good form with another brace, taking up spot kick responsibilities from the absent Neymar. A good start to the month for United.

17.1.17
Semi Final Second Leg
Arsenal 2 Manchester United 1
(United win 3-2 on aggregate)
Kagawa ('88)

Despite the loss United will be happy to advance to the first final of the season. price will be hoping to add to the 3 trophies he has already picked up for the club when they visit Wembley in march. Kagawa was the hero of the day coming off the bench to score a late goal that sent the fans into raptures.

FA Cup

7.1.17
3rd Round
Manchester United 1 Swansea 0
Lopez('57)

One of the youngest United teams to take to the field for years was able to outplay a strong Swansea team in the FA cup. A goal from one of United's unsung heroes Nicolas Lopez meant that United avoided a replay that would have added to their already congested fixture list.

21.1.17
4th Round
Manchester United 2 Tottenham 0
Higuain('37), Kagawa ('67)

United would have expected a harder test than a full strength Tottenham offered on this January evening. They even managed to rest several of their first team players in advance of their big league game away at Stamford bridge this weekend. United will be happy that they advanced inside the 90 minutes saving them from an exhausting replay.

Player Of The Month

Ina month that saw lots of rotation in the United team their Brazilian striker Damiao managed to bag himself an impressive 4 goals. Despite only starting 3 of the 8 games during the month the striker made the most of the time he had on the pitch and chipped in with some vital goals. Damiao is said to be dissapointed with his 11 goal return this season.

Rafael Leaves For PSG

View attachment 313333

Young Brazilian Rafael leaves Manchester today for a move to French Moneybags PSG for a fee reported to be around £20 million. The right back aged 26 has been surrounded by transfer speculation for almost two years now and it appears Price has finally caved and sold the player to stop the talk amongst the camp. Price had the following to say;

'We have great respect for Rafael and the way in whcih he has carried himself during the long drawn out speculation, now however we feel as though the speculation is affecting his play on the pitch and this is something we can not allow at tge club, therefore it seemed the right time to let him go'

With the start for Willis ,16 a the weekend it seems as though Price is going to look to the youth system instead of using the money from the transfer.

Champions Elect?

Many pundits have described the month of Fabruary as the month that a young Manchester United team matured into Potential champions for this season. Having put a number of dominant performances in, including a win in the Capital One Cup final against City, United have emerged from their neighbours money-enhanced shadow to take full control of the league.

Premier League

5.2.17
Manchester United 3 Stoke 0
Higuain ('9, '86, '90+1)

Well it looked as though United were going to be holding on at the end of the game, but when Gonzalo Higuain added his second on the 86 minute mark it was settled. All that was left to do was for Higuain to complete his first hat-trick in a United shirt. This result is one of those you look back on at the end of the season as a Title winning performance.

8.2.17
Swansea 0 Manchester United 2
Santon('34), Thiago ('51 Pen)

Another well rounded and polished dislay from United as they yet again rotate their squad, and yet again they win! It was a reasonably convincing win that sees them open out their 10 point lead over city again.

22.2.17
Manchester United 1
Burnley 0
Willis ('69)

A perfect day for United in which young full back Damion Willis bagged his first goal of his career. The day was made sweeter for United as City dropped points away to Stoke. It seems nothing can stop United at the moment and they will be hoping that this form continues.

25.2.17
Reading 0 Manchester United 1
Neymar ('29)

Another strong win for United as they take a narrow, yet well deserved win against Reading. Neymar was the hero of the day once again as he scored the only goal that took United 12 points clear of City who have 2 games in hand.

FA Cup

11.2.17
5th Round
Stoke 3 Manchester United 1
Rooney ('59)

With Price resting the majority of his first team its no surprise that Stoke had the power to overcome them at home. United wont be too upset at this result though as they will now have a less congested fixture list, the fans however who see their proud tradition in this cup will no doubt be a little displeased.

Champions League

14.2.17
1st Knockout Round
Juventus 1 Manchester United 1
Neymar ('58)

Juventus were rescued by a 97th minute penalty by Jovetic. This will be hard to take for United as they put in one of the bravest performances ive seen from them in the Price reign. All isnt lost though as they will take their away goal back to Manchester with confidence that they can get the job done.

Capital One Cup

5.2.17
Final
Manchester United 2 Manchester City 0
Grenier ('11) Damiao ('76)

I think we are looking at the likely league champions here today. United were simply too strong for City in this final and the scorelione could even have been worse for City. The depth of United's squad is simply too strong, even with players like Ganso, Rooney and Ademilson rested today they still had the quality to put City away.

View attachment 313349View attachment 313350

Player of The Month

In a month that could define United's season manager John Price was unable to pick one individual as his player of the month. Instead he chose to reward his entire squad for their efforts during the month by announcing that his team will fly to Dubai for some warm weather training before the cruch match with Juve next month.

Marvellous March For United

March turned out to be yet another solid month for League leaders United. Scoring 9 goals and conceding 3 during the month led them to three wins and a draw. The depth of uniteds squad once again showed as they were able to keep their players fresh for the big games.

Premier League

11.2.17
Manchester United 2 Southampton 0
Jones('15), Rooney('58)

United English contingent ensured that they maintained their lead at the top of the league, with goals from Jones and Rooney. It was as straight forward as that in the end with Southampton having very little threat up front. Over to City to respond now.

25.2.17
Newcastle United 0 Manchester United 3
Grenier ('6), Neymar ('21), Kelly ('90)

Another dominant performance from United ensures that they maintain their gap at the top of the league. A brilliant display at St James Park in which Grenier ran the show, both with goals and killer passes, dictating the tempo of the game and controling it from the midfield.

Champions League

8.2.17
1st Knockout Round 2nd Leg
Manchester United 3 Juventus 1
Maia('59), Higuain ('61), Neymar ('78)

In the tie of the round, United dispatched of a very strong Juventus side in a straight forward fashion. Young defensive midfielder Maia scored his first goal of the season before Hitman Higuain and Neymar added to end the game with a rather easy scoreline for United. many pundits were saying the team who wins this tie would be favourite for the cup, so United will be confident from here out.
28.2.17
Quater Final First Leg
PSG 1 Manchester United 1
Zouma ('87)

Despite a dismal display from United they leave France with a draw and a vital away goal. PSG will now have to do what no team has done in well over a year, win at OT. All we can say is good luck.

Hes been away at Sao Paulo for the last season or so, banging the goals in. With Rooney and Higuain at 30 and Damiao and Ademilson misfiring he will be hopefully lighting up the scoresheets next season.

CHAMPIONS!!! Price Lives The Dream

View attachment 313592

The defining image of this seasons Premier league as long serving United Legend Wayne Rooney shows his joy at lifting the Premier league title. The month of April saw United take the league title with 2 games to spare after a brilliant season saw them overhaul City at the summit. The month itself saw United win 6 of the 8 games they played drawing the other two and destroying defences with 17 goals in the process. A brilliant month for United.

Premier League

1.4.17
Manchester United 5 Cardiff 1
Ganso ('23), Lees OG ('52), Kelly ('66), Neymar ('67), Jones ('87)

United started the game just 6 points ahead of City with a game in hand, knowing that they could end the day with a sizeable 9 point lead. This looked likely when Ganso put United into an early lead, but Cardiff clearly hadnt read the script and they equalised after half an hour. From there United took over and the rest as they say... is history.

8.4.17
Tottenham Hotspurs 1 Manchester United 1
Neymar ('10)

An evenly matched game from two very strong team, but when United took the lead after just 10 minutes they would have been confident of going on to win the game. Tottenham didnt waste long in pegging United back however and after 12 minutes the two teams cancelled each other out. Definately a better result for United than Tottenham.

15.4.17
Manchester United 3 West Bromwich Albion 0
Smalling ('32), Neymar ('77), Zouma ('84)

After another dominant league performance from United it seems difficult to see the league having any other destination this season than Old Trafford. With their defence helping the cause with 2 of the 3 goals it seems that have goals coming from all areas of the squad.

22.4.17
Everton 0 Manchester United 1
Lopez ('32)

United show that they are more than just class and flair, today they battled for every inch on that pitch and fully deserved the 3 points that will keep them 7 points clear! With 3 games left United only need to win one in order to claim their first title under the guidance of John Price

29.4.17
Manchester United 3 Fulham 0
Neymar ('35, '65), Holtby ('40)

CHAMPIONS!!!!! Another Virtuoso performance from one of the best players on earth at the moment with Neymar taking a brace that ensures United have won the Premiership. This is Price's fourth title in five years of management but im sure that with his childhood club this is the sweetest. United deserved it this season, they have been brilliant.

Champions League

5.4.17
Qarter Final Second Leg
Manchester United 2 PSG 0
Zouma ('33), Neymar ('38)

Manchester will play host to a European Semi final, and in this case it will see both legs with the tie being a Manchester derby. The first leg will take place at the City of Manchester stadium, it will be a chance for Price to reach his third successive Champions League final, and second with united.

19.4.17
Semi Final First Leg
Manchester City 3 Manchester United 3
Neymar ('50 Pen, '90+1), Damiao ('72)

The two Manchetser clubs could not be seperated in an epic encounter that saw 6 goals split evenly, United will be the happier team taking a draw and 3 away goals back for the home leg meaning that City have to all but win to secure safe passage. Neymar contributed two more goals making it 22 goals for the brazilian this season.

25.4.17
Semi Final Second leg
Manchester United 1 Manchester City 0
Damiao ('30)

Manchester United have been assasin like in their precision in the champions league this season, taking draws away from home and dominating wins at home. This one was a little tighter but it was led down the same storyline as the rest. The only goal of the game came from Damiao after just half an hour and it was enough for price to be sent to his 3rd consecutive Champions League Final.

I cant see myself staying at United for the long term as ive already won almost everything with them, i feel i need a long term project? what do you guys think?

start with a club at a really low league only use the youth team after the first season see if u can win all competitions with them

after you win champions league why not turn it into a champions league challenge you will already have 2you

also was suprised you didnt sign destro with united was a beast at porto

btw read all this in the past few hours been a great read so far

after winning everything in my swansea save, i decided to kinda adopt a league challenge and win all the major leagues... so guess its along the champions league challenge, but after a while got bored of it and went and managed my local team (Torquay) to get them into the premiership...

No updates for a while as ive gone back to before moving to United and had a bit more of a dabble with Porto!!
