Airplane's absolutely mint. Love that film. absolute classic

Watched Slumdog Millionaire yesterday. Quite a good movie. Nothing amazing, but good.

To be honest im a sci-fi fan, but im hoping to bring to light films people may not of seen, especially the younger folk on FM Base (these arent all my favoutie films but ones i think people may not of seen, otherwise id have put films like Batman: Dark Knight in)

any others sci-fi fans out there? if so i know you would have watched these but for the uneducated:

Event Horizon (spooky)
Sphere (spooky)
Contact (really dont know why I like it, its **** but i love it)
Star Trek II (dont care what anyone says its the best Star Trek film, even if you hate the others)
Battlestar Galactica (the original feature length film! Not the ones where Starbuck is a f**king woman but the one where Starbuck is played by Dirk Benedict AKA Face from A-Team)
Logan's Run (classic...but old fashioned)
Twelve Monkeys
Blade Runner (obviously)
Fifth Element (again s**t but worth a watch)
The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) (worth a watch but not for those who dont like slow films)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Moon (again a little slow but worth a watch)
Batteries Not Included (loved it as a kid)
District 9
The Fourth Kind (s**t again but has it moments which makes me like it)
Watchmen (by far the best 'superhero' film there is)

Other film worth a mention that are quality:

Up (Everything about this film I shouldnt like, but the opening 15 minutes are some of the best, if not THE BEST i have seen in ANY film)
Apocolypse Now (Vietnam as it should be portrayed (dont watch the REDUX version!!!! i cant stress that enough!!!))
The Departed (a must watch)
Black Hawk Down (truely amazing)
The Right Stuff (amazing cast and about manned spaceflight)
Fight Club (must see)
Shawshank Redemption
Silence of the Lambs
The Usual Suspects
The Godfather Trilogy
Se7en

These are all i can thin of off the top of my head but there are LOADS more!!!

You are so spot on. The original Battlestar Galactica film is brilliant, I have it on DVD. It's great. Along with the original War of The Worlds. Great films. Compared to the remakes........the remakes are absolute ****

The special effects for the time were excellent. The remake was just so lame. Just basically people running about, few explosions, and just no atmosphere. The original had everything for its time. Sort of like Alien when it came out. The scare factor, but without all fancy special effects.

Remakes of any film is generally a bad idea. Has anybody else ever seen never back down or fighting? Much more interesting than fight club and actually makes some sence.
I havnt read much of this thread but surely the Godfather has to be one of the best films of all time? ( the original, the sequels dont compare)

thats what you have to judge films like that on....the time it was made....you just have to imagin what it would have been like when that film came out and it gives you incredible abmosphere and presence!

fight club does make sense! you just need to be switched on which is a bit of a strain but it helps! its kind of like Se7en in that way.

I dont know why but i love godfather 2 as the best of the bunch, but i cant put my finger on why

I know that Brad Pitt was imaginary in Ed Nortons mind but the whole plot was a bit far fetched...
I think the original was best but i also liked 2. However 3 was the worst of the trilogy and shouldnt have been made.
Francis Ford Coppola was a genius. Is there a thread asking people what they think is the best movie of all time? If not i might make one :)

Limitless - 7.5/10
True Grit - 8.5/10
Mystic River - 8/10
Leon - 9/10

Indeed, not seen the original.

The original's better imo. Loved the remake as I've not seen a remake that good before, but the original simply cannot be beaten. It's simply brilliant-extremely highly recommended.

Saw "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" the other night. Thought it was really brilliant; was in hysterics when they threw the body off the roof..

Also noticed this. MAJOR look-alike - Xavi? Robert Downey Jr?

Just watched Field of Dreams (at last). Excellent movie and probably one of Costners 3rd best (behind the Untouchables/JFK). Little bit of a tear-duct cleanser without the need for chick-flick style ott sentiment and all that ****, and one of those classic feel good movies-and has baseball which makes me even happier (even though I hate seeing the Bo-Sox being a Yanks fan). 10/10
