Switched back to a 4-1-4-1, downloaded the new patch, and voila- recipe for success. Just wish we could have done this sooner so that we had a chance of winning the league.

Champions League Final

View attachment 442964

Absolutely dominated them for the whole match until they got a goal in the 67th to go 1-0 up. Byung-Yong equalized for us in the 76th but despite pushing for it we couldn't come up with the winner in regulation. Instead we were forced into extra time that was uneventful until Hernandez put away the winner in the 116th.

We're Asian Champions and kept the streak going of South Korean teams winning that didn't win their domestic league for the 3rd year in a row (last year was Ulsan, year before was Chunnam).

Squad

View attachment 442963

Our Champions League hero and man with the most appearances is hands down the player of the year for me. 21 goals from 45 games all played in the MR position is fantastic. Muso was the best of my signings, playing consistently well even when the rest of the team weren't.

It's like I had a premonition in the last update when I said we wouldn't win if we won out and Pohang lost out because that's exactly what happened. Like with Busan last year it was our defense that kept us toward the top.

I'm going to be sticking around to see what happens in the Club World Championship but think after that it's time for me to deliver a message to South Korea:

WCQ Final Leg 2

View attachment 442961

A very even and intense match. We went 1-0 up on 15 minutes but didn't find the all-important second goal to set me at ease until the 67th. It's going to be interesting to see what we can do at the World Cup, hopefully we can move out of the group stage this time after failing to with Congo last go round.

impressive career so far, africa and asia both conquered!

nsync have destroyed the standard of music in this thread though XD. That video always baffled me. You're driving a viper and cannot lose a bmw Z3 (and it's a girl driving the Z3...)? It ain't no lie you can't drive drive drive

Thanks man, think I'm going to aim for the pentagon in this career, might as well since I'm 2/5's of the way there.

I hated the boy bands back when they were big, especially Nsync, sadly I kind of miss them with the standard of music around today. And that video is freaking amazing, did you see those killer dance moves? Who cares about how bad of a driver you are when you can move like that!

Club World Championship 2021

Quarter Final

Really thought we were going to make an early exit in this competition so I was pleasantly surprised by this dominating performance. Next up was European giants PSG.

Semi Final
View attachment 442829

Best I could hope for was a lucky win with PSG having an off day but it wasn't to be. Still proud of how the boys hung in there with some of the best in the world. Third place match coming up against ES Setif, a team we should be able to beat handily.

Third Place
View attachment 442827

23 shots and we could only direct 4 on target. Fitting end to my time in South Korea I suppose.

View attachment 442826

What challenge does the world have in store for me next? Only time will tell.

2022 World Cup Draw

Groups A-C
View attachment 442825

We should be able to fight for 2nd in our group with Italy taking first.

Groups D-F
View attachment 442823

The two nations I've managed in drawn together in Group D, I'll be pulling for Tsolane Muso and South Africa. Looks like my home nation of USA stands a decent chance of making it through their group while Mexico will hopefully finish bottom of their's.

Groups G & H
View attachment 442822

We'll find out if England are worthy of their 3rd place world ranking when they face Uruguay.

2022 World Cup

vs Japan
View attachment 442531

Scored in stoppage time to take this one. A little disappointed we weren't able to keep the ball much when that's how we typically play but can't complain about a 1-0 win!

vs Turkey
View attachment 442530

Couldn't think of when we had met before so I had a look at his history...
View attachment 442529

My word this guy can hold a grudge! Still talking about something I said a minimum of 6 years ago!

View attachment 442528

And I beat him just like I probably beat him way back in South Africa, though to be honest it's been so long that I really don't remember.

vs Italy
View attachment 442527

Played fresh players in this one as we had already qualified!

View attachment 442532

Can't quite believe we topped the group! Italy only picked up one point by drawing us in the last match of the group in a game that didn't really matter for us as we had already qualified.

Second Round vs Costa Rica
View attachment 442526

They put up more of a fight than I thought they would but the scoreline was about as expected. We had already made it further than the last three World Cups Nigeria were involved in by getting this far, how much further could we go?

Quarter Final vs Germany
View attachment 442523

Absolutely gutted! At the same time though, I'm pleased with how well we played against one of the top teams in the world. We really controlled the match throughout but just couldn't hang with them in extra time.

World Cup Tree
View attachment 442521

We can take pride in barely losing to the nation that went on to win it all. As much as I've enjoyed my time at Nigeria and anywhere in Africa in general, I feel it's time for me to move on. Brazil, Italy, and France have all fired their coaches after the World Cup and I've applied to them all. I'd prefer a move to Brazil since I have their leagues loaded and am looking at the possibility of taking charge of a club there.

Very good career here built thus far and a decent world cup for you there with Nigeria! All the best with conquering the next phase!

Still Looking

It's now August of 2022 and after resigning from Nigeria I'm unemployed and have seen very few job openings spring up. I've added Germany and Spain and removed England for now (to keep the game running decently fast) and also removed South Korea. I'm still considering trying to unlock one of the hero achievements on Steam so am really only interested in moving to a club that will either allow me to achieve that or make a run at another Champions League (North America, South America, and Europe left to complete the Pentagon).

View attachment 442306

A club that I could definitely challenge for the Copa Libertadores with. They're manager was hired by Brazil (overlooking little ol' me) and they approached me before I could even apply. With them seeking me out, you'd think I'd have a pretty good chance at landing the job, especially when I agreed with everything they set forth in the interview.

View attachment 442304

Guess not. Instead they go with a guy who's name I want to pronounce "Titty" but I'm not sure that's proper.

View attachment 442303

A move back to the states at this point doesn't interest me, I'd like to end my career there and with Sporting Kansas City, not the team that knocked them out of the MLS Cup in 2011 and 2012 (though in real life we did finally overcome them on our way to winning it all this year!).

Edit:
Just realized that there's no German Hero achievement on Steam, which is the main reason I loaded those leagues.

I'm sorry to say I'd go for Titty over yourself, but that's a different issue!

Looking forwards to seeing where you end up! Should be interesting!

Haha, can't say I can argue with that logic!

New Job?

View attachment 442251

There were a few jobs that opened that I was interested in but I really want to unlock at least one of the Hero Achievements and felt this club would be a good one to give it a go with.

View attachment 442248

And I got it! I'll be making less than a third what I was at Chunnam but really looking forward to this, never managed in Spain on FM before. I'll just have to settle for eating Ramen morning, day, and night but that's all right, I was able to suffer through it in my college days and survived just fine.

They've never really tasted any success other than winning the Third Division once in their long history. I'll be changing that.

League Table

View attachment 442241

We're predicted to finish 9th so firing their coach for being just 3 points off that position just 12 games in is a little mind boggling, hopefully the board isn't that tough on me!

Upcoming Fixtures

I'll have to play through these matches and more to get a lay of the land so not sure how difficult they will/should be, however after the first match against another team towards the bottom the rest are top half teams.

I was hoping for a Titty rivalry in Brazil but this should be interesting... buena suerte

Yeah, really found my niche I think last year with San Marino so this should be fun trying to build a club from the ground up.

That and there's only so much fun you can have slapping a Titty around!

Not the best of starts but we did manage a win at the end of the month against Alzira who are currently in 3rd. Maybe things are looking up?

Transfers

View attachment 442207

Didn't want to make to many changes to disrupt team chemistry so got rid of a few players that weren't going to get time with the first team and brought in a couple that I thought could make an immediate impact:

View attachment 442206View attachment 442205

Saiz came up on my new chief scout's reports and Aboagye I found while looking for a decent DM since we were severely lacking in that position. Both are straight into the first team and should really perform at this level (I think).

Squad

View attachment 442197

Saiz has already made an impact and performed particularly well in the last match of the month. Armindo Fernandes Ferreira Silva is a player that is performing well now but I'm glad doesn't have the potential to stay with us as we move up the ranks of Spain because that's a long name to type.

Table

View attachment 442195

We're now facing the threat of relegation more so than before. I'm hoping that this year we can avoid that fate and have the opportunity in the off season to rebuild and start to work our way up. The win against Alzira gives me confidence that we can make it happen.

Upcoming Fixtures

View attachment 442187

The mid season transfer window will be opening soon so I'll be looking to sell on some players and bring some in and hopefully move up to around mid table. I'm considering going strikerless so may put all the strikers at the club up for sale in order to free up funds and bring better midfielders and defenders in.

*Because I got drunk and played further ahead than I meant to*

View attachment 441938

Decent results, if we can find a way to get wins instead of draws then we're well on our way. Most of the games we were the better team just couldn't put them away, even in the 1-4 loss to Huesca we were better they just had the luck.

More Signings

View attachment 441937View attachment 441936View attachment 441935View attachment 441934View attachment 441933

There seem to be more quality players on free transfers here than where I've been in the past, which should be a good thing. These five were brought in to add depth and a couple of them should be first team regulars, six were let go since the last update to free up wages but since they're all poor quality regens really no point posting them up.

Squad

View attachment 441930

I'm not sure why (maybe it's the two first names) but when I was adding players to the Nigerian national pool previously Peter Michael's name stuck in my head and when I saw him available on a free and interested in coming here I had to snap him up. He hasn't disappointed as he's been the best of the new signings, six of whom are in the top seven rated players in terms of average rating at the club so far.

League Table

View attachment 441927

As usual at this point I should be happy with getting out of the relegation zone, instead my eyes are yet again pointed upwards wondering if we can't make a run for a playoff spot. I want to get out of this division as soon as possible and with the new signings believe we have a squad capable of it.

I plan on drinking again tonight so thought it best to post the remaining games of the season in case I get click happy again (tends to happen when I've drink in me, you wouldn't believe the weird **** on my browser history).

March 2023- May 2023

View attachment 441867

Still not what I'm looking for but better than the club was doing before me. Impressive win over league champions Barcelona B.

Squad

View attachment 441857

I think what could make the difference next year is loan players, the only one we had on loan was already at the club and I never looked into bringing more in. New signings did well, hopefully now with half a season playing together they'll kick on and get us promoted next year.

League Table

View attachment 441856

I averaged 1.5 points per game from when I took over which had I been in charge all season would have been good for 57 points, still not enough for a playoff place. Hopefully I can strengthen the squad with some free transfers and loans during the off season.

I took a little break from FM due to the holidays, work, and getting a new PC but after transferring everything over successfully I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work at Ontinyent.

Preseason 2023/24 Transfers

View attachment 437730

Had to let a lot of fringe players go because of the low wage budget that comes with the territory of managing in a lower league. Unfortunately that's made the squad extremely small but hopefully I can bring in some more loans and get some youth on the pitch.

Ins

Going back to playing with a lone striker and wide players so that was my focus this transfer window. Tried to sign Lucia on a free but he decided to join Numancia instead, luckily they loan listed him straight away and were willing to let him come here. Omeruo is the next Nigerian star in the making, he should be great at this level currently and my assistant claims he'll be good at the next level as well with some development. The other three aren't as exciting but at this level should be all right.

Friendlies

View attachment 437724

Didn't start out well but that's life when you're installing brand new tactics for the team. Things got better toward the end though admittedly we didn't play anyone that was too much better than us.

Upcoming Fixtures

Tough game to start the season against Valencia's "B" team. It gets easier after that going up against teams predicted to finish mid table or lower until the final game of the month against Alzira, predicted to finish 5th. The media don't have a lot of faith in me and are claiming a high mid table finish is on the cards for us at best.

September 2023

View attachment 437665

Great start to the new season, was really surprised we were able to earn a draw against Valencia Mestalla, went up a goal early then fell down 1-2 and didn't think we were going to come out with anything but a late goal from Mora earned us a point. Maybe should have beat Eldense but we made up for it with a lucky win against Alzira to close out the month.

Squad

View attachment 437664

Melo continues to be the best performer at the club and at 31 I'm hoping he doesn't start declining too much. As long as he helps get us promoted I'll be happy with his career here. Victor has been the most impressive youth player so far making a scoring debut for the club. We'll need him and the other youth to grow up fast if we're to challenge for promotion this year.

Table

View attachment 437661

Early days but it's right where we want to be. Really need promotion this year to ease the financial strains of the lower leagues.

Upcoming Fixtures

View attachment 437660

Should be a pretty straight forward month, the Badalona game will most likely be the most challenging.

October 2023

View attachment 437602

A perfect month was almost spoiled at the end by Hospitalet, fortunately youngster Sole scored a late winner in stoppage time after being substituted in for Omeruo to keep the streak alive.

Squad

View attachment 437599

It's the two Nigerians that move to the top. The two of them have combined for exactly half of the league goals we've scored so far and are starting to make me regret resigning from the Nigeria post (even though they probably won't ever be good enough for the national team).

Table

View attachment 437593

6 points up and more importantly 11 clear in the playoff zone. 1st place would be nice but the goal is to finish in the top 4 so we have a shot at promotion through the playoffs. Actually trying to figure out the playoff system as I type this and looks like we'll definitely increase our chances of promotion if we win the league. From what I can make of it the 1st place team from each of the second division B leagues (there's 4) play in a semi final of which the winners are promoted and the losers are added to the pool for a playoff between the rest of the second division B playoff qualifying teams.

Upcoming Fixtures

View attachment 437591

Alcoyano and Sabadell will be the crucial matches for November as both teams are sitting in or around the playoff zone.

November 2023

View attachment 437496

I figured the excellent form we started the season with would eventually come to an end but was extremely disappointing the way it came screeching to a halt in a 1-4 loss against Alcoyano. We recovered fine, though we could have won the last game of the month if Omeruo hadn't missed a couple of clear chances to avoid scoring in every game of the month.

Squad

View attachment 437494

Omeruo was the only one able to score in November, we'll need someone else to step up in that department if we're to aim for promotion. Michael was the threat from midfield but has been dealing with injuries.

Table

View attachment 437493

We've lengthened the gap between us and 5th to 13 but Valencia Mestalla have closed the gap up top to just 3 points. Omeruo is currently the second leading goalscorer in the league and if he keeps up his form there's no reason he can't win the golden boot.

Upcoming Fixtures

View attachment 437491

A short month with the holiday season coming up, hopefully we can use these games to pull away even more.

December 2023

View attachment 437072

Not the greatest month starting off with a loss, then giving up a late draw against Girona in what should have been a win. We rebounded nicely, however, with a change of tactics paving a way to a dominant 2-0 win to close the month and head into the holidays on a high.

Squad

View attachment 437071

Omeruo continues to light it up at this level and is now the league leader for goals scored at 15. Michael only just came back from injury but with him back we should be much stronger going forward.

Table

View attachment 437069

We're up top by just 1 point now and actually lost the top spot for a bit before our win against Castellon. We're exactly halfway through the season and I like our chances to at least qualify for the promotion playoffs, though as always at this point I want more!

Upcoming Fixtures

View attachment 437067

Huge match to start the month against second-placed Valencia Mestalla, then it's bottom half of the table teams the rest of the way for January.
