Teamsheet: COLWYN BAY (A) (13/9/14)

(4-2-3-1 WIDE)

REDGRAVE

BANANA SCHWARZENEGGER BURHEIM WHYTE

MASON PATRIK

LITMANEN PETERS HOGG

WILLIAMS

Bench: THAME, HARRISON, YAKIN II, BAKER, GOYZUETA

Internationals take their toll on squad fitness, and see a number of changes for our next game. Banana and Whyte return at fullback, while Mason joins Patrik at CM. This frees up Litmanen to start with Hogg either side of the captain. While Roberts scored twice on international duty, he is too tired to play this one; Welsh counterpart Williams starts, Goyzueta goes on the bench.

Despite the driving rain, we started well, and Litmanen capitalised on some weak defending to fire home in the 6th minute. It wasn't until the 32nd minute that we struck again though, Sam Hogg getting his first goal by firing through a crowded penalty area.

A Burheim OG threatened to complicate matters, but Redgrave pulled off a superb save to keep us ahead. That was the last proper action though, as the rain stifled what was becoming a good game.

A dull result, but we get the three points.

Ratings: Redgrave 6.7, Banana 6.6, Schwarzenegger 7, Burheim 6.9, Whyte 6.7, Patrik 6.8, Mason 6.9, Litmanen 7.3, Peters 7.7, Hogg 7.2, Williams 6.5. Subs: Goyzueta 6.7, Harrison --, Yakin II --

Haha nice to see I'm doing well! Always good to have healthy competition in the side! Really enjoying this story, hopefully I can keep my place at LB :D

That's true, the two LBs will keep on pushing each other to perform better.

<<Thinking>> How do I hide his pants before the next game? (6)

Teamsheet: NORTH FERRIBY (A) (16/9/14)

(4-2-3-1 WIDE)

THAME

THUNDERFOOT MANBEARPIG HARRISON FIREBIRD

DANCE PALMER

MASON BIGGUN BAKER

WILLIAMS

Bench: REDGRAVE, THOMPSON, YAKIN II, HOGG, ROBERTS

All change again after a quick turnaround in fixtures. Manbearpig makes his first start, and Biggun returns to the starting lineup. Roberts is fit enough for a place on the bench; Yakin II joins him. Peters misses out completely so he'll be fit for the weekend match.

A powerful shot by Williams after 6 minutes put us in the ascendancy. A Baker tap in from a curled Mason freekick doubled our advantage after a spell of dominance. Unfortunately we couldn't add to it through some lacklustre finishing; Mike Palmer's screamer coming closest as it fizzed past the post.

Our 3rd goal was gifted to us, via an underhit back pass. Williams snapped it up, rounded the keeper and dinked it into the net with ease. Williams followed this up by missing the easiest chance of the match to get his hattrick, but Dance soon made up for it by curling a freekick past the keeper.

Dance soon had his second, latching onto a Baker pass, and planting one in the top corner from 20 yards.

Apart from a late freekick which struck the post, North Ferriby failed to threaten, in what turned out to be a very comfortable win for the boys in blue.

Ratings: Thame 7.2, Thunderfoot 8.2, Harrison 8.4, Manbearpig 8.2, Firebird 8.3, Palmer 6.7, Dance 9.5, Mason 8.5, Biggun 7.6, Baker 8.9, Williams 9.4. Subs: Yakin II 6.6

Really loving this so far. Just caught up with what's happened today :)

good to see Harrison performing well at CB when he plays as well :)

Tidy performance again mate!

How is the training going? People making improvements?

Hopefully Thunderfoot is doing as well in training as he is on the pitch ;)

Another couple of goals will do nicely! Never been part of one of these but they're great!

Have any teams made offers for any players yet?

Not yet, but as it is technically their first season at the club, I doubt there will be bids much before January.

The only player that isn't doing well in training is Peters, the captain. Best one so far is probably Patrik, who's really developing nicely. Thunderfoot is progressing steadily, helped by some great performances.

Burheim looks like he needs to work a lot on Composure. Perhaps also Stamina! I bet we'll see some good development after a year!

With our FA Cup away day only two games away, the race for spots in that first XI is on. Whoever does get selected for that match against Ashton Utd is likely to be part of a consistent XI for the cup, so there is a little pressure on. Yakin II and Patrik start in the heart of midfield for this one, with Baker filling the RW slot so Hogg can play. Roberts is kept out the team by Williams, and we continue our consistent rotation of the full backs.

Poor marking saw us behind from a corner, neither centre back picking up Toner who fired home. We responded by peppering the Gainsborough goal with shots, but it took us til the stroke of half time to respond; Peters getting his first goal with a simple tap in.

A shuffle of the pack at HT saw Baker and Williams come off; Litmanen and Roberts replacing them. Baker performed reasonably, but had picked up a knock, so it was a precautionary measure.

The second half was largely uneventful, but a Thompson error allowed Toner his second goal of the day, and condemned us to defeat. Peters went down injured in the 94th minute to add further misery to a poor day on the pitch.

Ratings: Thame 6.7, Banana 6.7, Harrison 6.6, Thompson 6.8, Whyte 6.7, Patrik 6.7, Yakin II 7.6, Baker 6.7, Peters 6.8, Hogg 6.3, Williams 6.3. Subs: Dance 6.6, Litmanen 6.7, Roberts 6.6

TREATMENT TABLE

Tony Thompson - 5-6 weeks, pulled hamstring

Sam Hogg - 2 weeks, bruised thigh

CBs not doing their job! Bring back the Norwegian beast!

Not to complain, but you should think about giving a goalkeepers a run of, let's say, 10 games. Then switch Thames and me. GK's need consistency to perform, you don't need to rotate us so much. Let Thames play 10 games, then me. I think that's for best.
