That's true, and everybody is underestimating Born's team which is quite funny as well :) can't wait for Brendn to play Stonecold though

Yep, that one's going to be interesting. Would love to be a fly on the wall.

I personally think that my match with Mkmillwall will be a great match in Round 3, 2 contenders for 2nd place fighting it out for that QF berth (Presuming Yeti 1st and Yiliang 4th).

Who knows mate, our group's matches were ALOT closer than I thought they would be

I love the idea of the semi-finalist getting automatic qualification tot he group stage and being 1st seeds.
Always give people something to fight for. Do well in your group so you can play a (relatively) weaker team in your quarter final to get automatic qualification to next year.

For anyone who missed it last time, The Quarter Final draw is adopting the Rugby Heiniken cup system.
After the groups are finished, the top 2 teams are put into a table ranked by points; Goal Diference; Goals For.

Quarter final
1st vs 8th = QF-A
2nd vs 7th = QF-B
3rd vs 6th = QF-C
4th vs 5th. = QF-D

Semi FInal
A vs C
B vs D

Final - (A vs C) vs (B vs D)

So a good group stage can really help you win automatic qualification to the next series. I love how every round is this competition is important!

Yea with qualification next time, literally every round in this competition means something for one reason or another(doing well in this tourney AND qualifying for the next).
the 3-2 lost is true, do you guys fear me now
A lot more than I did, definitely more wary.

I'm free now after a busy week! I'll get my match with Normadic played sometime this weekend; whenever suits him.

Goals Galore in Spartak Bosco Comeback!

The 5th match of the FM Base World Cup was between Nomadic' Spartak Bosco and Disclaimer89's Out_On-Bale (Tottenham on here). A very open, free flowing game provided much entertainment to a sell-out crowd at Wembley stadium.

The match didn't start well for Spartak Bosco as Robert Lewandowski suffered a game ending injury in the 6th minute. It then didn't get any better as Kevin Mirallas whipped a low cross in from the byline towards Diego Costa, which caused a medley of confusion in the area before Konoplyanka took the initiative and drilled a shot past De Gea from 3 yards out! 0-1

Out_On_Bale had really started the game well and were piling on the pressure and it didn't take long before they reaped there reward. In the 14th minute, Mirallas again got the better of Leighton Baines down the right wing and put in on a plate for Diego Costa, who thumped it into the top left corner of the goal! 0-2

Spartak Bosco were really struggling to get a grip on the game and were further set back when substitute Fernando Llorente was forced off in the 20th minute!

Eventually the break through came in the 36th minute, when a cleared corner eventually worked its way back out to Baines on the left wing, who whipped a dangerous delivery back into the 6 yard box for an easy tap in for Giuseppe Rossi. 1-2

Momentum was now with Spartak Bosco and 3 minute later they got the equaliser. A corner from the right hand side, found Claudio Marchisio unmarked on the penalty spot who comfortably guided the ball into the bottom corner! 2-2 Game On!

An enthralling 45 minutes of football was coming to an end, when Mateo Kovacic picked up a nasty looking injury forcing him off. Diego Costa had also picked up a slight knock and didnt look quite right so was taken off as a precaution.

HALF TIME; 2-2

4 Goals, 4 injuries

The second half started evenly, but you could tell Spartak Bosco's tails were up after that 2 goal comeback! A fantastic strike from Rossi, from the edge of the area broke the deadlock on the 63rd minute as he curled it into the top left corner of the goal. Handanovic had no chance! 2-3!

Out_On_Bale started to throw a few extra men forward in search of an equaliser, but were then caught short at the back. A chipped through ball put Doumbia in down the left, who dinked it in to the back post, where it was met by Edinson Cavani who rose high above Azpilicueta. 4-2!

Doumbia then put the game beyond reach 3 minutes later, in the 72nd minute with a tidy finish inside the area. 5-2

As both teams knew the game was over the final 20 minutes were rather uneventful, but after that first 70 minute display who could complain!

Injuries were possibly the deciding factor as the introduction of Doumbia seemed to regalvinize Spartak Bosco. The loss of Kovacic and Costa seemed to affect Out_On-Bale more, who failed to create to many chances without them in the second half.

MOTM - Seydou Doumbia

Injuries for 2nd round

Robert Lewandowski (Spartak Bosco)
Fernando Llorente (Spartak Bosco)
Mateo Kovacic (Out_On_Bale)

With 2 strikers down Heskey may be making an appearance on the bench in the next game...

Thanks for a great game Disclaimer89, it was much closer game than the result suggested, as you can see from the clear cut chances in the match stats.
