Stonecold 1-2 Mendez Marauders
View attachment 233076

A great game and im really happy with our performance. Think we were worth at least a point after passing up too many chances before Hamsik opened the scoring. We agree that Messi and Buffon showed there class and were the difference between to very similar teams. With warm up consisting of 1 win on penaltys and 8 defeats i went into this fearing the worst but some changes to the team set up saw us very much in this game till Messi Magic overcame De Rossi grit and Mendez Mauraunders get off to a winning start.

Looked like a very tight game, Brendn's lucky those injuries won't affect him. Interesting way to start between two heavyweights. Just waiting on two more matches now, Lippo's playing his at some point this weekend and Taskers does not come back from vacation until Tuesday, so in the mean time, stir up some banter ;)

In what many had tipped as the tie of the round, the game certainly didn't disappoint
As Mendez Marauders and Blink-1 Eto’o played out an enthralling 1-2 game, with
Brendn's side taking the 3 points today.

Note: My game showed both sides being Mendez Marauders but the player lists confirm who
is which teams. Stonecold can verify the result.

the first goal of the game came 5 minutes before half time when Sterling cut the ball inside to
Hamsik who shot at goal. A good save by Muslera but Hamsik slotted home the rebound.

0-1 to Brendn's side.

The second half got underway as two very even sides contested on the field. But on 64 minutes,
Brendn's second goal came through a piece of Messi brilliance.

0-2 to Brendn's Side.

Stonecold set up a nervy finish when De Rossi cut open Brendn's defence with an excellnt thru-ball
and Neymar put the ball past Buffon into the far post. 1-2 with 10 minutes to go...
I was beginning to sweat a little.

Fearing a draw that would cost Mendez and strong opening day win, Brendn went defensive
for the last 10 minutes and secured the 3 points.

A very even game but Buffon and Messi played their roles.
Thanks to Stonecold for begin a tough opponent. Good Game
Close game :)

Is it only injuries that have the red indicator that means they miss a game?

Also what about Red cards
Straight red = 2 games
2 yellow = 1 game what what I was thinking?

Red indicators miss a game, yellow is fine. And hmmm... that would make a lot of sense, yea I think that's how it should work (again first competition still figuring everything out :))

It came up in a practice game where a guy was sent off. We were wondering what would happen in the World Cup should It happen... since it's only a matter of time :P

I said it earlier, but it was lost in all the other stuff haha

Anyone free for a practice game, I'll be free in about 15 minutes (or however long a 40 odd goal game typically takes...)

Loser's Claim Narrow Victory

View attachment 233052

In what was an extremely nervy affair, Lippo's Loser's have hung on for a narrow victory over Matt's Maestro's in their opening group A match.

Goal machine, Mario Gomez, gave the Loser's the lead in just the 16th minute after the Maestro's had perhaps got the better of the opening exchanges.

Just 2 minutes Later the Loser's were awarded a penalty & Sequiera stepped up to take the spot kick. Never again as his shot was hit straight at the keeper & bounced out.

Despite the miss the Loser's went on to dominate both possession & chances eventually getting their second on the half hour mark to ease their managers nerves.

Just 6 minutes later though, Marcus Rojo headed in from a corner to hand the Maestro's a life line heading into the break. 2-1.

The second half was a tale of 2 styles as the Loser's took control of possession, while the Maestro's played on the counter & looked very dangerous doing it.

In the 58th they drew level through Harry Kane & the nerves really kicked in!

Surely not! I was 2-0 up, could have been 3 if that idiot had buried that penalty! God **** it!

Eventually though we got our 3rd through substitute Wayne Rooney & I decided it was time to shut up shop.

10 breathless minutes later & we'd held on, despite having to withstand a late onslaught from a desperate Maestro's attack throwing everything at us!

Thanks to Matt for yet another enjoyable game. This one was an absolute heart stopper for both of us but it was still played in very good spirits with plenty of laughs & groans on the side. Good game mate.

I'm trying out new tactics... Not necessarily the 1-1-5-3 I'm playing against Lewie but still... :P
Haha I'm doing a single player match right now, but seems a lot of people are online, so I'm sure one of them is up for it

As for Lippo, **** tight result; that means all games have been played within two days of the start time... except Born and Taskers; lol maybe good to have a few days to test out tactics and fix some chinks in our armor :)

Looking forward to clashing with you next week!

Hey guys, just letting you know that these next few days might be a lull as we wait for Taskers to return from vacation. So in the meantime, I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions of what to fix for next time, whether you even plan to participate next time, and what you like about this competition so far. Thanks so much guys, all of these feedback really helps me as I'm already forming things up for the next competition.

Hey guys really sorry about the situation. I didn't realise Internet in Scotland was sooooo poor. This is the first time I have been able to get online in 6 days.
