FourTwoFour - Plug and Play EPL WITH Palace 1st season no transfers

Hi all, so an update on my Accrington Stanley team.
1st Season won League 2 by a large margin. Think I finished on 109 points or something silly like that. Was a bit tough in the start of the season as there was a lot of new players but once they gelled and got used to the formation they where like a steamroller. ****, my 4th choice striker ended up as top scorer with 36 goals and 1st choice striker ended up with 23 goals. Think I lost 3 games during the season and had about 10 draws (about 5 coming after I had won the league).

Starting now League 1 and currently Won 3: L: 1 (Cup). Bit sluggish as again, a lot of new (better) players.

Thanks again Chrissy Dude for sharing this great tactic!

Do you do anything different away from home?
I couldn't get an away win - all draws - so I went from balanced to two strikers and lost 3-0 and 4-1 leads to draw 4-4.

No, I do not change the tactics at all. The only things I change are personnel and who takes set pieces really.

The main thing for me in terms of getting the best results was figuring out who my best strikers were, which was difficult because all the stats of my players where pretty similar (and horrible) but after a few games my top two strikers became clear based on their in-game performance and goals scored. Usually when they played, I won.

I think this is important because I think this tactic is all about scoring so you need to have players that put away the changes they get as defensivly (at least for Accrington) this tactic leaks goals. It would be quite common I would win 4-3 or 3-2 etc but the odd time I lost or when I drew it was mainly down to missing a host of chances.

That being said, I came back more than a few times from 2-0 down at half time by substitutions, usually the MCR, Inside Forwards or F9's making the biggest difference.

Here is the main things to look for in each position that I have found works well, both in top league and lower league games

GK: Main GK skills but I find Communication is quote good here as testing between keeprs with higher Com and lower com does seem to make a difference.
DL/DR: Apart from defensive abilities, the main things I find useful here are their dribbling and crossing. Offensivly they act as wingers and deliver crosses into the box while your IF's move inside the pitch. Man opportunties come from their crosses.
DC: Defensive stats

MCL / BW: This is my defensive midfielder and I have found they need to have good marking, tackling and heading. While a no thrills position, having a player with poor defensive stats here often leads to opposition strikers able to launch a counter attack, while players with strong defensive stats tend to cut out most of the central CA opportunities.

MCR: Good passing, longshots/finishing and heading are good here. They get alot of time on the ball so passing and vision are good. Longshots and heading are also useful as they are the ones that get most of your "corner" opportunties which usually are shots just inside/outside the box or heading so being able to make the most out of these leads to more goals.

Inside Forwards: Basically here I look for dribbling, passing, vision, decesion making and finishing as they will get a lot of finishing and passing opportunities within the box. Crossing is less important as it is mainly your DR/DL that will do the crossing.

False Nine: This is probably one of the harder ones to find in the lower leagues as I find they perform best when they have not only good finishing stats but also good passing, vision and decesion making. Depending on the phase of play they need to be able to play as central midfielders, inside forwards or strikers so need stats accordingly. As such, I have found strikers with balanced stats in all these areas generally player better than those that have higher stats in purely striking attributers (such as high finishing but low passing etc).

One last thing, this is around team talks, by far the most effective I have found is "Play like you did last game" talk. When this option is available my team plays very well but when not, it can be a bit hit and miss.

Sorry for the long post, hope it helps a little!

Thanks very much - I use defensive strikers on support rather than F9s. My main striker (I usually play with just one) has 7 in 12 games, the other has six in 9.

Well this tactic does it again. Been very restricted on game time so have jumped ship to FMC and 'challenge' games. Tried 'the saviour cometh' with Burnley with various tactics from here but this was the first one to win the challenge! Started from the Everton away game.

Has anyone tried switching the training to defensive positioning to see if it stops leaking goals. I feel as though the majority of tactics this patch concedes far too many goals. I'll see what happens anyway if I switch training.

Really solid tactic mate. I plugged this in during my first season with US Colomiers and I have to say it exceeded every expectation I had of it. The board wanted me to make a valiant fight against relegation with a Media prediction of 17th. I managed to finish 4th, Just missing out on the promotion place.

Dazzy, which did you use and did you do anything to it?
Anyone that can make any suggestions with the below is welcome!
I'm Lowestoft in the conf.
Always end up about sixth - winning most home games, drawing most away games. Fifth is playoff so go nowhere.
Use the balanced tactic of this thread despite the DM getting **** ratings. Most goals come from right IF. Changed the F9 to a def striker on support and deselected shoot less often - getting an F9 at this level is hard. My strikers have decent ratings for F9. I have slow cdefs so if they play balls over the top, i select drop deeper and untick play offside.
My problem is I have a lot of shots, create a reasonable number of clear cut chances but score only one or two per match.
I'm beginning to think the fact that we are part time and can't train as much is affecting us. The board won't go full time- does anyone have any suggestions to make? The other two striker tactic was way too leaky for me.

I won't be posting again until the 2016 version is released. Thanks for all the feedback and if the mods want to keep this open for member discussion then fair enough.

Cheers for all the various feedback. See you guys/gals in November.

For Accrington I set this to my default (normal is Attacking Movement) and it seemed to help a "bit". Tbh I am not sure how much of a difference it makes but I use this "just to be sure"
