Chelsea to Expand Stadium

Chelsea FC released a statement on their club website announcing planned expansion work at Stamford Bridge. The expansion will take place in the corner of the West Stand and the Shed End and will accommodate an extra 2,000 seats. Chelsea sold out every single home game last season and Roman Abramovich has made it clear that Chelsea are a growing club. The expansion will be complete by the end of June 2013 and is due to start during the season.

The work on the Shed End will also involve the changing of the seat pattern to make a Nike tick, rather than an Adidas logo.

Chelsea Sign Two More Teenagers!

After speculation that he will join the club last season, Carlos Fierro, has joined Chelsea for a fee of £1.3m. The Mexican striker is 18 years old and scored 14 goals in 28 games in the Mexican top-flight last season for Chivas. Chelsea have also signed Italian centre back, Daniele Rugani for a fee of £500k from Empoli. The 17-year old made 3 appearances for the Serie B club last season.

The two signings come after a low-spending summer for Chelsea, who have only signed one player aged over 20 (Sessegnon). Pavel Glazkov spoke to the press today about his transfer policy. "We have a brilliant bunch of first team players and very good depth. This summer we are focusing on building the squad for the future and we have made a lot of young players, Chelsea players, so we can continue our success in the future."

Goals: Fernando Torres '12
MOTM: Nicolas Otamendi

A beautiful, sunny day in North London was topped off with a brilliant game of football and another trophy for Chelsea's cabinet and their fourth under Pavel Glazkov in a little over a year. Lukaku and Lampard had good chances in the first ten minutes, but were denied by new Manchester United 'keeper, Guillermo Ochoa. After 12 minutes Chelsea got a deserved goal as Juan Mata cut inside from the left to put Fernando Torres through on goal, who rounded the Mexican keeper to score.

In the second half, Stephane Sessegnon, Nathaniel Chalobah and Carlos Fierro all came on as Chelsea pushed forwards and Fierro almost got a debut goal for his new club. However, it was another Mexican that could have grabbed the headlines, but Javier Hernandez had a goal disallowed for a foul on Vrsaljko in the build up.

Chelsea defended well and the performance of Nicolas Otamendi was a real highlight for Glazkov. Chelsea will play their first Premier League game as holders against Swansea, who defeated United last season to ensure Chelsea's title.

Chelsea to Appear on Mid-Week Soccer AM Special

A charity match in aid of Help The Heroes will take place at Stamford Bridge which will see Chelsea play the staff and crew of Sky Sports show, Soccer AM. The game will take place only 4 days before the start of the season, so most people won't be expecting Chelsea to field any first team players. Pavel Glazkov and Roman Abramovich are likely to attend the game which all financial gains will go to the Help for Heroes charity.

Soccer AM host Max Rushden stated: "It's going to be massive, I really can't wait and hopefully I'll nick a goal. It's going to be hilarious to see someone like Tubes come up against someone like Josh McEachran or Daniel Sturridge so everyone should come to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday the 15th of August and basically laugh at us."

The Soccer AM team will feature some former Chelsea players such as Chelsea assistant manager, Roberto di Matteo and Dennis Wise. The Soccer AM team will be managed by co-host Helen Chamberlain.

Charity Match

Chelsea 5-0 Soccer AM

Chelsea demolished the crew of Soccer AM at Stamford Bridge in front of 22,394 fans who turned out to support the game. There was a lot of support for Soccer AM but it only took Chelsea to go 1-0 up when Carlos Fierro scored after knocking the ball through the legs of Trev and several minutes later Ramires scored to make it 2-0 to Chelsea. Helen Chamberlain decided to run out on the pitch and give Soccer AM 'keeper, Bobby Chalal a big kiss to motivate him and it seemed to work as Soccer AM seemed to play a bit better and Max Rushden should have scored but fell over before being able to take a shot. It looked to be 2-0 at half time until a Chelsea corner was diverted into the back of the net by Baby Elvis who was instantly subbed by Helen to be replaced by Roberto di Matteo.

The ball didn't move out of the Soccer AM half in the second half and even though Dennis Wise and Roberto di Matteo played well it wasn't enough as Sturridge and Kovacic scored to make it 5-0. There was a surprise in the last 10 minutes as Chelsea's manager Pavel Glazkov came on the pitch for Soccer AM. The Russian manager was a solid midfielder at Dinamo Moscow and was up to no good when he and di Matteo combined to bench Daniel Sturridge and both were booked.

In the end it was great entertainment for the big crowd and £68,000 was raised for Help the Heroes.

Neymar Joins Chelsea For £40m

Neymar+Scotland+v+Brazil+International+Friendly+NaRk7XfOpzol.jpg

Throughout the summer the name 'Neymar' has been associated with every major European club. From Manchester United to Barcelona and from PSG to Inter Milan. But after a summer of speculation the Brazilian wonderkid has joined Chelsea for a fee of £40m. The 20 year old has shown a lot of potential in recent years already picking up 16 caps for Brazil and numerous goals at his home club, Santos.

The player has become to biggest signing of the summer throughout the world and has told the media of his gratitude towards Pavel Glazkov and Roman Abramovich for giving him a chance in the world's biggest league. Neymar told a Brazlian newspaper; "It is hard for me to leave Santos as I love the club but when a team like Chelsea come calling it is hard to say no. I had discussions with Pavel and Roman about my contract and they seemed very happy I was keen on joining them. London is a very famous city and living there will be great. I hope I can achieve a lot at Chelsea and become an icon to their fans like I am here at Santos."

Pavel Glazkov held a press-conference at Stamford Bridge after the signing was announced. "I am very, very delighted to tell you all that Neymar will be a Chelsea player for the forthcoming season. He is a very gifted young man and will lead this club to a lot of glory in the future." When asked about the amount of strikers the club has Glazkov replied with, "Yes there are a lot of strikers here but the way we play is about scoring goals. We scored over 100 goals last season and I want more. You cannot win if you don't outscore the opposition and with our big strike force, spearheaded by Fernando, Romelu, Didier and now Neymar, there is no denying our teams ability in the final third. Fierro, Sturridge and Niang are young and still learning the game and they will come into the team when suited for their development. But for now it may be too soon for them to be playing every game."

neymar.jpg

Neymar will wear the number 14 shirt next season as Chelsea attempt to defend their title.

Glazkov has stated that there will be no more spending from Chelsea this season due to the most expensive transfer of the summer. Neymar joins Mateo Kovacic, Carlos Fierro, Stephane Sessegnon, Daniele Ruggani and Misa Spasic as Chelsea invest heavily in youth following departures of John Obi Mikel, Florent Malouda and Alex.

In other transfer news, after being released by the club, Jose Bosingwa has joined Sevilla on a free transfer after making only one league appearance for Chelsea last season following the siging of Sime Vrsaljko. New-boy Lenny Nangis has joined Sheffield United on a 6 month loan after joining for 850k from Stade Malherbe Caen.

Pavel Glazkov: "Club is Entering a New Era"

Russian manager, Pavel Glazkov has told Chelsea fans that the club is 'entering a new era' after a mass signing of young players of the summer, most of them being strikers. Neymar, Carlos Fierro and Lenny Nangis join a squad already with world class strikers such as Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba, Romelu Lukaku and Daniel Sturridge.

The Chelsea manager also told fans to expect a period of transition as the younger players in the squad come into the first team more often. "People say you cannot win anything with youngsters and I disagree. I sign young players who have a desire to win and I know when players have this. Chelsea fans should not expect much this season in my opinion, me and Roman have spoke about the plan for the season and it involves a lot of development. Firstly we need to defend the Premier League and also look to improve in Europe. In cup games you can expect to see the young players in the squad given a chance to show me and the fans what they have to offer." Glazkov went on to state that; "If we can develop these players now there will be a golden era for the club."

Fans have been understanding of what Glazkov had to say about the team. One fan said "We have been criticised for having an old and out-dated team and Pavel is looking to make a team that will be successful for a long time. If we go one season without a trophy but win loads from then on I can understand that."

Some fans have also stated their uncertainty about the plan. "We need to be trying to win every season. Teams will target us now as a team they can beat and we need to stand strong as champions of England."

Ashley Williams Sent Off

Pavel Glazkov was left delighted with his teams performance against 10-man Swansea city. The fastest ever Premier League red card happened 35 seconds into the season when Ashley Williams pulled down Torres who was through on goal as last man. Romelu Lukaku missed the penalty but for the rest of the game the ball hardly left the Swansea half. Fernando Torres got a first half hat trick and Romelu Lukaku made up for his penalty miss by latching onto Ezequiel Lavezzi's cross to score. With the score 4-0 at half time, Swansea came out looking to ease the goal difference. Swansea debutant, Matt Phillips scored a good goal after joining from Blackpool. But it was another debutant who made the headlines.

On the 69th minute Mateo Kovacic and Neymar both came on to make their first appearance for Chelsea. The two combined together and Neymar got through on goal to place his shot past the Swansea 'keeper to score a goal only 3 minutes into his Chelsea debut. Neymar expressed his delight after the game in scoring on his debut in Wales.

Chelsea 7-0 Leicester
(Fernando Torres x2, Neymar x4, Ezequiel Lavezzi)
MOTM - Neymar

Fernando Torres and Neymar are building up quite a partnership with 10 goals between them in the first two games of the season. Leicester's second Premiership game will be one forget and Torres made sure of that with his first after only 6 minutes of play. Juan Mata then had a goal disallowed for offside, but Neymar doubled the lead after 11 minutes on his home debut. 5 minutes later Neymar got his second goal and after 36 minutes he got his hat trick and made himself an instant hit in the Premier League. However, Chelsea weren't finished and Juan Mata was unfortunate enough to have another goal disallowed for a slight hand ball as he controlled the ball.

It was out with the old and in with the new as Nathaniel Chalobah and Mateo Kovacic came on for John Terry and Frank Lampard. Kovacic again proved he is going to be a top-class midfielder as he set Neymar up for his fourth goal on the 58th minute. Fernando Torres got his second of the game shortly after. Neymar was taken off to a standing ovation to the home crowd as Stephane Sessegnon made his Chelsea debut. Ezequiel Lavezzi rounded up the rout after 73 minutes from a pass from Juan Mata, who made 4 assists in the game.

A truly memorable game will go down in history as one of the most exciting Premier League clashes in recent years. The two title contenders took part in a rollercoaster-ride of a game which saw Chelsea grab the 3 points. Lavezzi's cross was met by Fernando Torres who volleyed Chelsea ahead after only 6 minutes. And on the 18th minute Chelsea doubled their lead through Neymar, who can't stop scoring for his new club. Minutes later Chelsea thought they were 3-0 up when Torres was controversially given offside for his tap in. After 27 minutes Phil Jones met Modric's corner to pull a goal back for United and within 3 minutes Wayne Rooney equalised in a mad 10 minutes.

The second half was end to end with both goalkeepers, Thibaut Courtois and David de Gea were called into action and on the 48th minute Wayne Rooney and the whole Manchester United team thought they got the lead, but his goal was given offside by the official. Replays show that Rooney was just onside. On the 67th minute, Ezequiel Lavezzi was hauled down in the penalty area and stand in captain, Ashley Cole stood up to bury the spot kick past de Gea. Patrice Evra was shown two yellow cards in the last 10 minutes and was given his marching orders.

Fernando Torres played the Brazilian in after 13 minutes and on the 29th minute Juan Mata picked him out to put Chelsea 2-0 up. Ezequiel Lavezzi was brought down and landed badly on his arm and will miss up to a month with a fractured arm. With no recognised winger on the bench Mateo Kovacic was called upon to replace him and could have scored later on. However, it was Romelu Lukaku who sealed the win as he headed in Juan Mata's corner. Pavel Glazkov's side has now notched up 5 wins in their first 5 games.

After that Michael Kightly scored a goal in what seemed to be an offside position to put Wolves 1-0 up. Drogba: "This is my last season at Chelsea"

Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba has revealed he will not renew his contract at Chelsea at the end of the season. Drogba will be 35 by the end of the season and has struggled to get into the first team this season after a bout of injuries at the end of last season. Drogba has only made one start for Chelsea this season in their loss at Wolves in the Carling Cup and a substitute appearances against Athletico Bilbao.

Drogba has won 4 Premier League Titles, 3 FA Cups, 3 League Cups and 3 Community Shields with Chelsea

The Ivorian striker told BBC Sport; "I can confirm I won't sign a new deal at the end of the season. It is a mutual decision by myself, Pavel and Roman Abramovich. I don't know whether I will retire and I'll evaluate my options over the summer."

Drogba scored 28 goals in all competitions last season for Chelsea, but with the signings of Neymar, Mbaye Niang and Carlos Fierro he has struggled to compete with the young strikers. "I think me leaving is in the best interests of the club as it'll help the younger lads come into the team. Hopefully I can get a job coaching here I've enjoyed helping Pavel and the coaching team to nurture these young players. Me and Romelu worked together last season and he scored more goals than me and that's not on!"
