Injurys to new signings
View attachment 156184
Lincoln out for 7 months John Stones also got injured and will miss the first 2 months of the season forcing me to loan in a back up defender

Targets
Serie A - Title Challenge
Italian Cup - Solid Cup run
Champions League - Last 16

No change from last year well except this is the least i expect. Juventus & Inter improve while i cannot expect the run we had last year to happen again. Champions League will need the luck of the draw like last season to repeat while the Coppa Italia will be a of little focus

Transfer Window

AC Milan

A few times last season it felt like we relied on the u19s too often so all the signing are for squad depth but all will get the chance to stake a claim for first team action

The Brazilian was arguably the best player i had at Sheffield Wednesday. Stats already sky high at 18 but will be lost until Christmas due to broken leg

Hirving Lozano ML
View attachment 156190
The amount of times i had to use Poli & Bertolucci on the wings made this look like my weakest position with the defense. Lozano can fill in both sides when required and comes on a free

Fran Villalba AM

Never got his chance at Valencia and usually turns out to be a class player. Will be fighting with Lincoln & Gabi Barbosa and other for the spot.

Domenico Berardi AT

It appeared during my player search that a few teams were interested in Italys future lead striker and Sassuolo were VERY fair with negotiation with my "taking the ****" bid of £15m was only rounded up to £20m

Out
Jamie Vardy was often complaining about the amount of action so to move him on for almost double what i payed made my day. Nigel De Jong was entering his last season on his contract and about to turn 33 in November he was asking for more cash so i took the money now and this will speed up the war between Cubas & Pontisso for my future DM position. The final 1st team player leaving was Simone Verdi now i have a solid replacement in Berardi & Lozano
Other players leaving on a free were Phillipe Mexes who returns to France with Le Harve after 6 seasons with Milan, only 5 appearanes last season as age caught up with him.

3rd with 4 wins from 6 is no disaster. Juventus have made a slightly worse start than we have while Lazio & Fiorentina think its the 90's again as they sit at the top. At the other end last seasons "team of the year Pescara are having 2nd season syndrome" and Sassuolo look to have finally hit a wall with all of there talent moving on.

The importance of that defeat away to Spurs will be discovered over the next few weeks. If we can beat Shakhtar twice we'll be all but through, other end of the scale is the Ukrainian side do a number on us then we'll be on the wrong end of a 3 way fight probably needing to beat Spurs in match 6.

We looked back on track until i rested far too many players against bottom of the table Empoli

Beating Inter may have ended there hopes of the title for another season. Only 11 points off top spot but 6 teams also in the way.

Chelsea were the group winners that await us in the last 16. Still managed by Jose Mourinho whos still spending big. This summer past he made the biggest move involving a Serie A team buying Khouma Babacur from Fiorentina for £22m. There progression was simple. A group with Sparta Prague & Olympiakos was never going to offer a serious challenge. Barcelona vs Juventus & Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich are two games that could easily be a final that were treated to earlier than we should.

Paper Talk
View attachment 154942
Why are we buying youth when our own require more first team exposure. The signing of Van Der Laan totally undermines Taravella, Vergine & Villalba. All may be good enough to start for the club now. The fans agree there is the need to trim some fat from the club to give these kids a chance.

Manager agree's Poli, Pontisso & Honda will all be encouraged to move on for starters.

Juventus keep the gap under 10 points and amazingly behind us 1 points still covers Roma, Udinese & Lazio and the next battle for 6th has 4 teams split by 3 points with only 1 Europa league spot left. Carlos is Bacca
View attachment 154578
After over 18 months out with Injury the man who led our charge to the season one title Carlos Bacca finally recovered to make his first team return this month. Still a quality striker but at 31 and the amount of talent floating around this Milan strike force he will almost certainly be sold in the summer. But i will be doing my best to give him a good send off.

End of Season

We start with 3 defeats in 4 games but still manage to win the league and get back to the Champions League final
This is almost all thanks to Juventus falling apart

End Of Season 2017/18 Review

We win all 3 trophys. We had a far stronger squad this year as i pinpointed last year that was possibly the difference from last season's efforts and this seasons but strangle our league form was worse than last season. Maybe too much depth now. clearing away some players is job no1 this summer
This helped make Serie A a much closer fight for the last 2 months and we ended up winners by 6 points and it could have been less or not at all if Juventus last 5 games had been anything but a disaster

The other big league winners were Atletico Madrid, Bayern & Chelsea still managed by Jose!
And across Europe Man City & Liverpool swap Jurgen Klopp for Antonio Conte. Liverpool will be very happy with Klopp & £7m in there pockets

Dont be fooled by Leverkusen's trip to the Champions League final. They dominated the BundaseLiga this year 13 points clear of Schalke and 25 points ahead of 4th Bayern and a even worse 5th Dortmund. How were there managers not sacked? In Spain Atletico become the first non Barca/Real back to back winners sine 1984. Top 4 with Villareal were only split by 4 points, Valencia close behind them too. Simliar difference over in England with Man City holding off Liverpool, Arsenal & Chelsea again all split by 4 points with Tottenham 2 points back.

AC Milan 2017/8

How good will this left wing be if they can both stay fit more next season. Bonaventura & Jorge next season will lead us. Sisto added goals to his game and with Bacca out almost all season Calleri's 26 goals cemented his spot as starter next season. Defense only let in 16 goals in the league a sign of that unit starting its legacy.

So much to talk about so we'll focus on the main players. Carlos Bacca to Liverpool for £7m after almost 2 seasons out injured, Andres Cubas threw a captain sized sulk after interest from Barcelona, he said i could do nothing to keep him so strangly he ended up choosing Bayern Leverkusen over ourselves and Barcelona. Next up Andrea Poli to Aston Villa for £8m this time he wont be coming back. Made a total of £19m off £2.5m. Surprise sale was Lincoln Benfica were willing to stump up £34m now with some more cash later on to settle the debate i had with myself over the 3 forwards Milan will use going forward. Keisuke Honda was last up. Started the last year on his contract and at 32 he'll bring in plenty shirt sales to little Sassuolo
