Undefeated since November and caught up our games in hand at last and suddenly were 3 points clear at the top with a huge match against Juventus up next. Due to popular demand that game will get its own post. Still anyone's guess who will end up 3rd & 4th to 12th, 7 points in it now. The battle at the bottom on the other hand has very quickly turned into a 4 horse race with the bottom 4 split by 1 point but 5 points behind Sassuolo & Lazio who are far from safe.

Once again the Juventus challenge falters from March onwards leaving the path clear for a 4th title in a row. The last exciting race were involved in is Calleri vs Dybala. Tied on 33 goals with 2 games to go. Torino & Atalanta lead the way for Champions League. Roma & Inter still in the hunt. At the bottom Verona are down and it should be 2/3 of Perugia, Cittadella & Brescia

Tough luck in the Champions League, will hurt more if they go on to win

End Of Season 2019/20 Review

Domestic domination is still in our hand as we keep our hands on all major honors. For the second season in a row Juventus's poor run in denied the Serie A fans of a season long title battle. We even gave them a enormous lead while we were at the World Club Cup in December

Tottenham won there first top flight title since 1961. Strong top 4 with Liverpool & Arsenal missing out and Arsenal sacking Rudi Garcia for 7th place finish and is replaced by Ronald Koeman
Bayern finish only 4 points ahead of Hoffenheim & Leverkusen. Dortmund down in 7th and sacked former German U21 manager Markus Gisdol.
Madrid domination continues in Spain at the title stays in Madrid for the 5th season in a row but first in 4 that it in Real's hands. The can also say they hold the Spanish Cup & Champions League the first side to get the Spanish Treble in this save and extend there Champions League lead over us.
Barcelona despite a stronger showing in 3rd acted quickly by sacking Frank De Boer and replacing him with Pako Ayestaran. Messi Still only has 2 Spanish cups & 1 Spanish Super cup to his name in this save.

AC Milan 2019/20

As a squad it was not our best year. individual superstars like Bonaventura, De Sciglio and of course Calleri stands out.

AC Milan Finances
Income = £502m +£47m
TV Money £71m -£21m
Sponsors £78m -£5m
Gates receipts £32m -£8M

Expenditure = £366m +£66m
Staff & Player Wages & Bonus £121m +£4m

Amazing how much money we lost roughly £35m from our early Champions League exit. On the sad side roughly in the transfer window we made almost £150m so if not for that this season would have seen us loose money. Thankfully the next few seasons should be about making money rather than spending it in the transfer market.
Final balance £401m + £136m

A big season was a must after last years catastrophes and he had a good season. But as there usually is with the English defender its not all good. He's in the last year of his contract and were not even close to agreeing a deal only a few weeks to go and he'll be up for sale if we dont reach a deal.

MR Pione Sisto

Not his best season, by far his worst in recent times. Most of this was down to niggling injurys that took him out 4 times during the season.

MC Jose Mauri

View attachment 143430
Another step up in performance should keep his spot safe however this is a big season for midfielders as our two best MC's in the u18's are coming trough this season and two loaned out MC's are ready to put in a claim to start for us. 10 players into 2 starting spots doesnt work so the players behind him may change.

ML Giacomo Bonaventura
Season 41app/13Goals Club Career 215app/83Goals
View attachment 143429
Didnt notice he played as much over 40 games this year. Now into his 30's i would be surprised if he plays over 40 games again but with his history there is no way anyone is away to take his spot.

AT Jonathan Calleri
Season 50app/47Goals Club Career 171app/137Goals
View attachment 143426
The underlying story of this season was Calleri vs Dybala. The two Argentina squad players combined for 94 goals in all competitions this season with Dybala grabbing the golden boot in both Serie A & Champions League, supporting Messi & Aguero there is a unthinkable chance that one of these two may miss the Argentina Squad with Icardi also fighting for a squad spot.

Pre Season Preview

England win Euro 2020. Harry Kane scores a hatrick at Wembley. Italys exit at the last 16 leads to another change of manager but again i turned away at the front door.

A second summer where the club were heavy on transfers out as we continue to try free up some room for the kids coming through. This years class being particularly great.

Class of 2020

We start with Dutch defender Hans Versluis signed from Ajax and already had a share of first team action.
View attachment 143112

Gianluca Leonardi developed quickly in his first season and has since played a role in Pescara's run in Serie A
View attachment 143110

Gian Felicioli like the Giggs of United class of 92 is a few years older than the rest. Has served his time with 2 full seasons at Torino & Sassuolo.
View attachment 143108

Samuele Meduri is the first of two midfielders that have had plenty first team exposure. Coaches have regularly told me how he can be far better than Mauri
View attachment 143106

Davide Violante is the other. Has made 58 appearances and i've always resisted the temptation to loan out my only "once in a generation" player so he can be a one club man and i hope he is to be the stand out for our next generation Milan team.
View attachment 143105

Michal Capek is being developed to be the Phil Neville of the bunch. Able to play all across the back line. Real Madrid have already been round with there cheque book.
View attachment 143104

Combine these guys with last years graduates Moise Vlad-Paul, Antonino Vergine, Joseph Taravella & Resul Gumus the year before and the amazing addition of Henk Van Der Laan right into the first team will have the 30+ club of Thiago, Bonaventura & Abate worried for the starting potential going forward.

Manager Changes
Italy - Massimo Oddo
Pescara - Genaro Gattuso
Germany - Roger Scmidt
Leverkusen - Luis Enrique

Both changes were based on the International moves above. Italy still wont talk to me after our past experience. Oddo got that job.

Targets
Serie A - Winners
Italian Cup - Solid Cup run
Champions League - Semi Finals

Semi Finals in the Champions League is the minimum target set by the board but especially after Real Madrid lifted the trophy last year i want it back!

Transfer Window
Only two additions both go to fill the considerable gaps in the U19s

Out
Failed to break the £100m barrier but came close enough. Biggest sale was mentioned in the end of season post. John Stones wouldnt sign a new deal and forced a move seemingly to Man City but Tottenham & PSG beat the City offer and out of the three he chose Spurs for just over £40m. Had him penciled into the defense for another 4-5 years at least. One of the youth are going to have to step up now! Another point raised at the end of season was our overflowing center of midfield. If im honest Thiago was my no1 man to move on but no offers came in so i accepted bids from Atletico Madrid for Alessandro Mastalli £17m and West Ham for Andrea Bertolacci £10m. Mastalli was part of my future but there is plenty more where he came from despite a brilliant 1st season i had to move someone on. Bertolacci was more personal. His goals fired me to my first league title. He was the force in the midfield for that first season and can leave the club proud of what he achieved. Final player of note on the way out was Fran Villalba. On another day he would have turned into the face of the club but just arrived at the wrong time with Bonaventura & Sisto locking down the starting spots, Firmino as the back up and 3/4 u19s fighting to break through as well. Joins what may be the most exciting team next season judging by there transfers.

Serie A Transfers
View attachment 143098
Juventus join us in making a huge profit they finally top a table haha by selling both wingers Kingsly Coman £50m, Kwadwo Asamoah to Torino free. They sure made up for it by making some top signings. Top young international striker on the market Almir came from Shakhtar, Serbian wonderkeeper Predrag Rajkovic also joins from the East. Adding domestic stars Erik Lamela & Nicola Murru along with the following two plays amazingly on a free Bilal Ould-Chikh & Alen Halilovic. Inter also splashed the cash they made from selling there old folks home. Sven Bender, enemy of previous football manager saves Jhon Arango, two Real Madrid players Rafik Zekhnini & Marco Asensio. Torino added El Shaarawy to the list of awesomness i've already mentioned. Lazio the only other side to spend over £10m while the league loose its usual haul of players to the higher playing leagues.

Almost a familiar look at the top except Juventus are top on goal difference as well which is not to far from the norm going into January. Something that is less common is Inter, Roma & Udinese being in striking distance. Dybala is the early favorite to win another golden boot with 11 goals from his 7 starts.

November

Barcelona gain a measure of revenge beating us but we go on to win the group with a game to spare.

Dybala leads the goal scoring charts despite a great month for Calleri. He wont mind so much as the main story is Milan are now 6 points clear at the top going into the winter break and amazingly both sides are still unbeaten. Udinese jump Inter and the Rome teams into the Champions League spots. Sampdoria are the disapointment of the season so far in the relegation zone while Fiorentina should be better than 13th. Speaking of troubled teams Cesena begin a blast from the back with 2 wins on the trot.

The title is all but in the bag and Juve look just as secure in 2nd place. Inter still have some work to do for 3rd but 4th is still up in the air. Udinese lead Roma by a point and Lazio are right on there tails. Unless Atalanta go on a huge run it should be between the other 3. The relegation zone has changed little. Cesensa & Vicenza look done then anyone out of the top 10 still not safe at this point.

Two years without a Champions league is very painful and this defeat hurts significantly more than our first final defeat in 2017 as this team was far better. Never mind it was only our second defeat by a full strength line up all season, our first at all in 2021 and what a time to do it.
