Game 19

Lassad and Julienne, and their assist-guy, De Sa, all scoring (H)

Game 20

View attachment 253318

Lesley De Sa likes scoring against his team, every time we play :)

Ajax had 54% ball possession and crazy 30 shots against us, but were very vulnerable on the back every time we hit them with counter-attacks.

Lassad got voted man of the match.

All quite for Eagles in transfer-market. We have no money left to buy players and not that much on salaries. The truth is there is no specific weak spot in the team that needs to be changed now.

There are several players with expiring contracts and I will be looking to keep some of them, especially Alex Schalk, Robin Van der Meer, Maowuna Amevor.

There is not much activity from other teams either. The biggest transfer so far is the sale of Lasse Schone to Galatasaray for 2.7 million euros.

Game 25

Another devastating defeat; 9 goals in two matches. Vitesse now goes to 5th, while we drop to 6th position.

OTHER NEWS

EAGLES terminate loans for Mickey Van der Hart
and Wesley Verhoek

View attachment 253291

Verhoek
was unhappy since early days of this season, he wanted more than just being De Sa's replacement. Verhoek finishes his adventure at Eagles with 5 games and 1 assist.

View attachment 253290

Mickey Van der Hart, was used in 8 games for Eagles but lately I decided to promote young Jordy Rondeel, and Van der Hart request to leave, as he couldn't be just a backup for Cummins and Rondeel.

EAGLES sign albanian U21 forward

View attachment 253289
Fabio Hoxha

Hoxha joins on free, as a replacement for departing Verhoek.

A versatile forward who can play in several attacking positions signs a two year contract worth 700 euros a month.

Hoxha started at young age at italian giants, Inter. He played for three years in their youth ranks and had loan experiences at Piacenza and Varesse in Serie B.
He than left Inter to go to Albania. He signed for Tirana, where he played for two seasons. He didn't deliver at Tirana and than left to join Team Ticino U21 in Switzerland, where he scored twice in 8 matches.

He has been without a club for eight months and now he joins the Eagles for the new adventure.

EURO CUP for Go Ahead Eagles! A fantastic season ends in style as we beat Heerenveen in first round of playoffs and than Utrecht in second round, only after penalties.

The city of Deventer is in celebration for this achievement and the highest ever finish in Eredivisie!

A total domination by Lassad! 26 goals, 13 assists, 9 POM. An incredible season for him, leading the Eagles in best season in Eredivisie.

While enjoying my days-off, relaxing with this view... some people have different things in mind...

View attachment 253054

That kinda gives me a reason for few more glasses of wine, but I don't want to make a big deal out of this, yet. Few hours later... the team president texts me also:

View attachment 253053

"C'MON! If I start loosing my core players now, what will happen with this team?!"

I better go back to the club see what can we do.

First, congratulations on 6th place and european league next season. Good job!

Well I think you anticipated, that some of the best players would be tempted to "bigger"(I mean richer) clubs. Dont go sos oft on them. If they are under contract for at least 2 seasons and if your plans are even greater than last season, go hard on them to stay. If they change their mind good, if not then if is worth force them or sale them. At least thats what I would do =)

Some times you have to act as friendly Joseph......... View attachment 253019......... (Only humor, didnt want to offend anyone)

Anyway good luck next season!

Yes indeed I expected that. I cannot afford bigger wages, I mean Lassad is our highest earner at 4.7/week.

Based on what's going on, I am about to lose 7 out of my starting 11 :)

Good job! my favourite Dutch team!

Great to see GAE fans around. We are about to turn's team luck over here :)

Back to Deventer as soon as I could, see if we can convince our key players to stay

Players OUT so far:

Bart Vriends - free transfer
Peter Van Ooijen - free transfer
Erick Cummins - free transfer
Ruben Lucas - free transfer
Lars Lambooij - free transfer
Sander Duits - free transfer
Nick de Bondt - 15.5k to Dordrecht
Giliano Wijnaldum - 1 million euro to Heerenveen
Lesly de Sa - end of loan
Mario Gregurina - end of loan
Aaron Kuhl - end of loan

View attachment 252941
Giliano Wijnaldum to Heerenveen

There was no way to stop Wijnaldum. He wanted a "bigger move". He was earning 2.5k/week and we were willing to offer him up to 4.5k/week, but he got 7.5k/week at Heerenveen.

To all the players in training ground:

View attachment 252945

"As you already know, some of our colleagues have left the club, for different reasons. We all know the ongoing rumors about some of you. I want you all to know that I want to keep you all happy here, for that, several contract offers are on the table.
But, if still you want to leave, it's best to be honest about that earlier. It will not be fair if you tell us in the end of the summer which will not leave us enough time to regroup.

If you are brave enough to stay and give all your best as we did last year, we will qualify for Champions League!

The word "impossible" is banned in this team"

Eagles have the new left-back!

Only few days after Wijnaldum's departure, we have the new man!

JOAZINHO
25 yo from Portugal. He joins from Panathinaikos for 225 000 euros. Prior to Greece, he played in Portugal for several teams, starting from Olivais and Mafra in second division, than Beira Mar, Sporting Lisbon and Sporting Braga in Premier League.

Joazinho signs a three-year contract worth 4.2k / week.

A fantastic first signing for us! It's the first of several which will be made during this summer.

Meanwhile, more good news at the club:

View attachment 252899
View attachment 252898

We are keeping Julienne and Turuc! We have doubled their wages now and looking forward to cooperate again.

AZ, Heerenveen and Twente were in my neck for Turuc and there is interest from France for Julienne.

After several attempts for contract renewal, and constant desire to leave the club, we had no choice but sell to Club Brugge our top player, Lassad.

View attachment 252860

Several clubs were after him, mainly Anderlecht and Brugge. We agreed with later for 2.3 million euros.

It is a big lose for the Eagles as Lassad, not only finished as top striker in the league but he also often brought others into the game and was our focal point in the field. He has a 19.5k / week wage now, something way beyond of what we were about to offer him (10k/week)

View attachment 252857
Lassad said goodbye to his teammates and went on to play for Club Brugge.

Many players at the training center were happy for him but also concerned about the future of the team.

"We lost our leader, it will be tough but we most move on and find our game" said his teammate, Julienne.

While the search for Lassad's replacement continues, new players join the Eagles.

View attachment 888158

View attachment 252693
Adam Kovacsik
free transfer from Reggina
24 yo / 192cm / Hungary
In and out keeper for Reggina for eight seasons, has signed a contract with Eagles worth 2.7k/week.

View attachment 252691
William Troost Ekong
free transfer from Groningen
21 yo / CB / Holland
Towering defender at 191cm, has been at Dordrecht on loan from Groningen.
View attachment 252688
Abdul Razak
free transfer from Doncaster
22 yo / CM / Ivory Coast
Razak is a major coup for us! Razak is considered a great talent and has been previously at Manchester City, Anzhi and West Ham. In last season at Doncaster he played 33 matches, scoring 2 goals and 5 assists.
He has signed a contract worth 3.2k/week.

==============================

With Kovacsik and Razak we have settled GK and CM position but there is much to be done, especially CF position and RW, where we are looking to replace Lassad and De Sa.

View attachment 252574

We got him, our #9 is here:

View attachment 252586

no it's not Tevez, just looks like him, it's

STRACK-ATTACK!

DENIS STACQUALURSI
27 yo / 190 cm / CF / Argentina
He played last two seasons with Baniyas where he scored 23 goals, and prior he was also at Emelec, San Lorenzo, Everton, Tigre and Gimnasia La Plata.

His agent was demanding 12k/week, which was beyond our limits, and just when we were about to sign Mounir El-Hamdoui, we received a call from Denis' agent who was willing to re-negotiate. In the end we agreed on 7.5/week with several clauses which will be activated based on his goals records.

His first words after arriving in Deventer were: "I am so glad to join this ambitious club. I heard very positive things about last season. I know I am here to replace league's best scorer, Lassad, whom I respect a lot. He has done a fantastic season. I hope I can do the same"

==================================

and we broke the transfer record:

View attachment 252573

Alexander N'Doumbou
23 yo / Winger / Gabon
625k from Marseille
That's highest fee paid from the Eagles in history of the club. We wanted a proper replacement for Lesly de Sa, and we think that N'Doumbou has all the quality to do the same as de Sa did in previous season.

EURO Cup Third Qualifying Round First Leg

Rapid Wien - Go Ahead Eagles
1 : 2
Franck Julienne
Deniz Turuc

EURO Cup Third Qualifying Round Second Leg

Go Ahead Eagles - Rapid Wien
3 : 1
Franck Julienne
Jules Reimerik
Alexander N'Doumbou

Solid games against Rapid. From newcomers, Joazinho and Razak are better adapted.

=======================

EREDIVISIE #1

Cambur - GA Eagles
0 : 1
Franck Julienne

A nice solid start to the season.

Our starting 11 has changed from past season:

Kovacsik

Nieupoort - Amevor - Troost Ekong - Joazinho

N'Doumbou - Razak - Turuc - Reimerik

Stracqualursi - Julienne

==============

The bad news is that our #9 is with the lowest rating in these three matches.

Eredivisie #2
Go Ahead Eagles - Groningen
2 : 3
Franck Julienne
Xandro Schenk

-----------------------------------------

Eredivisie #3
RKC - Go Ahead Eagles
3 : 2
Deniz Turuc
Abdul Razak

View attachment 252559

3 points in 3 matches was not the start we were looking for.

Stracqualursi is just "not there". Five matches now without any signal of hope. A tourist in the field. Julienne cannot get his game.

With misfiring strikers and out-of-ideas attack, I signed two other strikers for rotation...

View attachment 252547

View attachment 252546 View attachment 252537
Kane Hemmings & Ninos Gouriye
both signed as free transfers.

Kane Hemmings will compete with Stracqualursi as he has the same position.
He played last season for Barnsley in League 1 where he was impressive with 17 goals. Prior to that he played in Scottish Championship with Cowdenbeath, where he scored 35 goals in 70 matches.
He also played for Rangers. He has signed 3.3k/week.

Ninos Gouriye can play in every attacking position. He has six years experience in Eredivisie. Last season he played for Excelcior on loan from Den Haag, where he scored 6 goals in 32 matches, one of those against us.
He also played for Heracles for two years.
Ninos signs a two-year contract worth 3.3k/week.
With our two new strikers on board, Dos Santos and Hoxha are expected to leave on loan. Our attack now looks like this:

CF / Straqualursi & Hemmings
DLF / Franck Julienne & Ninos Gouriye

I hope this will refresh our game.

Out of Euro Cup!

Lost two matches against Newcastle 0:1 and 1:2 in playoffs.

The only positive sign for these two matches is perhaps Hemmings, who scored his first ever goal for us.

Straqcualursi is benched and probably will have to play for reserve squad. We lack... "everything" from past season.

---------------------------------------------

Eredivisie #4

Feyenoord - Go Ahead Eagles
2 : 0

Now we are 1 win and 3 defeats, lying bottom of the league.

We continue to further strengthen this team before the transfer deadline.

Ilan Boccara
CM/DM / 22 years old / free transfer
Previously at Ajax and Paris Saint Germain youth. Talented player who has played only once in Eredivise. Last season he was at Ajax Jong where he played 14 matches.
He will be a cover for Razak.

View attachment 252457
Marin Jakolis
CF / 18 years old / free transfer
A young striker for the future. Jakolis is Croatian and has played for Sibenik before joining Mouscron in Belgium. He played with them in second league 13 matches without a goal. Last season he played for their reserve team in Pro League.
He's one for the future.

View attachment 252455
Ricky van Haaren
CM/DM / 24 years old / free transfer
Van Haaren has Eredivisie experience. He started at Feyenoord, than moved to VVV, Den Haag and last season he was on loan at Dordrecht where he played 26 times, scoring 4 goals and 3 assists. He was one of their best players.
He will be in rotation with Turuc and Razak in central midfield.
