The commentators is a bit closer to the correct pronouncement than you. The j is not pronounced, and æ is kind off said like "the letter "a" in "fair"".

So more like "kaer" or "caer".

Actually it's the same as with the pronouncedment of Solskjær, which Chaz Lexinton explained at page 2.
