Hello everyone. This is a thread I've decided to make to discuss innovative and unusal tactics as well as if anyones interested being set a task to make a great tactic from the past or a brilliant idea that a user has come up with- and make a successful tactic out of it.

Before I get started I want to say I'm by no means a tactical expert, but I am very interested in creating wierd tactics from around the history of football (I've had a few successes and failures I'll post the succeses on the next post). I thought it would be fun to make a thread where other people can share their ideas. I also thought it would be fun if people would give a go at making some different tactics rather than the usual 4-2-2-2's (not saying anything is wrong with them).

I've also done this because I've seen several other users try to create tactics such as the Catenaccio with a sweeper role, and it gather interest, but gradually fade away. And also because I've heard people discuss an interest in creating wierd tactics that they've read about in inverting the pyramid, or my
http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...9-history-tactics-links-tactics-included.html thread

So I'll post a couple of my tactics that I've made below to get this thread started and post up a challenege of a tactic to make :)

Good luck- I hope everyone enjoys doing these!

SO for a first tactic to create as a challenege, a very modern one, but not one I've seen created as of yet in FM12 is Roma's 2005-2007 4-6-0. The first tactic to use no strikers what-so ever.

Heres something I've written about the tactic in my history of tactics thread shown above:

Roma 2005-2007- A hint to the future of football: Strikerless Formations

After the millennium, football has evolved dramatically. Its gotten faster, with more pressing of possession than anyone could have imagined in the 1960's in the days of Catenaccio (see above). Also something that has developed over the early 2000's was the reduction of strikers from the traditional 2, to 1 striker. However AS Roma in the 2005-2007 seasons hinted at the future of football, 0 strikers. Strikerless formations. Instead of having a traditional target man, or poacher, football could be played entirely in the midfield in the future, with a Treq or Fantasia as the furthest forward man. Totti enjoyed this role during these seasons, as the main focal point of attacks. All we can do is speculate whether the dominant formations of the future will be 4-6-0's and 3-7-0's, but Barcelona below hint at this. As did Australia in the 2006 world cup, holding possession against better teams with their 3-6-1 formation.

So the requirements for this are easy enough, make sure its a 4-6-0, any type of roles or width or PI's as you want, and post up your screenshtos and links and see if anyone can make a succesful version of this :)

I will of course be trying this myself, just hope someone else tries it with me haha.

Good thread idea, I love tactics that are a bit differnt.

Sorry to post my story but it's the only way of showing you my tactic at the moment, post number 27 is a screenshot.

Its not based on anything other than the fact I wanted to be different and also see if one in defence could work :)

Cool :) Thanks for the post! I'll give that a read.

Any chance of you wanting to take part in making the 4-6-0?

**** 361

Does anyone here ever used the tactic **** 361 on CM 2001/2002? I am gonna launch a remake of it, tonight, for the FM 2012, although it seems quite harder to have a good tct with only 3 defenders!Cheers,

Good luck with that mate, post some screenshots and a link here if you want

Just posted it! Hope some ppl try it and give some feedback!

the 4-6-0..ah we meet again. I'll try to make it but the requirements are massive, not every team can play 4-6-0 :)

Haha, has the 4-6-0 been the bane of yor life before as well then? I figured, which is why it'd be a good challenge.

Brilliant ideas mate, I'm one who liked to apply tactics in real life into the game. I think, I'll accept your challenge max, if I have time :)

maxy have you try to remake arsenal invincble formation would make a good read

I like my 4-3-2-1 formation very much, it's a little bit unusual because you have 3 MC's which are all more defensive ones(MCL and MCR Ball Winning Midfielders, MC Box-to-box), which has been polished by my good friend paetoja who really knows how to set up tactics, for e.g. I destroyed PSG with Hajduk in 4th season 4-0 in the Europa league quarter finals, Man Utd second season 2-0, Atl Madrid 3-0 away and Liverpool 2-0 away also fourth season, whilst not having the money to buy some great players I wished too and always on the edge of bankrupcy... unfortunately fm succeded in ruining my save file whilst playing fifth season CL won against rangers 5-2 on ibrox, 2-0 vs Porto, 2-0 vs Shakhtar home and 7-0 away... well those are my results, but I'll maybe try and make a backup tactics with my poacher as trequartista in 4-6-0 formation...

My attempt last year at a 4-6-0 failed miserably, but one thing I thought of was that you could have the AMC mark one of the CB's, this means he will close him down, but also stay in the area a striker would usually be when the opponents have the ball.

When you get the ball, he will drop of into the AMC position again, its a slightly pointless thing, but I hope it helps.

I tried my hand at a 4-6-0 with Barcelona first. It worked well with them but other tests with Spurs, Liverpool, Bayern and Inter failed.
