Depends. Eto'o doesn't deserve 1.7m euros per month. But if it was Heskey or Bramble, i'd have to agree! Nah jk, yes they are ******* overpaid.

explain. its called supply and demand, not to mention the huge amount f revenue they a) generate for their clubs and b) generate towards society in taxes
Wayne Rooney makes £9.36 million a year, so he pays £4.6m in taxes, which means Wayne Rooney generates enough funds for the basic yearly wages of NINE British Army platoons, or 143 Specialist Nurses. So yeah, they are well worth the money.

They're overpaid in most countries, as it's basically not viable in the long run. Germany's the exception.

Of corse they are overpaid but they are only paid this much because of the money floating around in the sport. You have to look at it this way, a club like Chelsea's wages must come to 2million+ every week. But the fact they can pay that just makes you wonder how much they are making every week. I personly dont think you can blame the players (unless they do a Rooney type situation and hold out for more money) because they are offered this money and no-one would turn it down. But i do think there should be a limit worldwide to how much a player can earn weekly, this would also in the long run make clubs more stable and bring down ticket prices and merchandise prices etc.

According to Forbes, the highest earning (including salary, endorsements, investments etc) footballer in the world for the past year was David Beckham, earning a total of around $40 million. Compare this to the highest earning actor, Johnny Depp who earned around $75 million. Yet have we heard anybody complaining about how actors are grossly overpaid? Didn't think so. The list goes on: The second highest earner of all actors was Ben Stiller, raking in $53 million compared to C. Ronaldo on $38 million. Tom Hanks earned $45 million, Messi earned $32 million. Adam Sandler; $40 million, Kaka; $25 million. And the list goes on.
People are paid on market value, footballers earn millions of pounds because the market dictates that their services are valued at millions of pounds, and it is exactly the same for actors, singers, TV presenters, whoever. When you can score past Casillas from 30 yards you will be paid handsomely as well because people like to pay lots of money to see goals past Casillas from 30 yards.

Work hard all of your life and get paid.. Football players are litterally 1 in a million, so why shouldn't they get paid millions? It's not affecting any of us in anyway, except maybe the fact that a lot of people are jealous. I'm not, but then again, I've worked hard for most of my life and what I'm getting now is what I've worked for.
Boom, headshot. It's not the footballers' fault they're being paid millions - would you honestly turn it down? - the market is to blame. WE, to an extent, are to blame for funding their wages. If we disliked them being paid so much, we could just vote with our feet and stop watching football.
Oh, nobody willing to make that sacrifice? There's a surprise.

Agreed, here we are arguing about how bad it is (no doubt they're paid too much) but we watch, support and love them every week without arguments.
