Going up against Stoke is never easy for Arsenal and I was prepared for a tough match. Ozil gave us the lead in the first minute as we scored before Stoke had even touched the ball! It was an even game until Welbeck put us two up but Stoke hit right back with a goal through Assaidi. An uneventful second half meant the game ended 2-1.

Our first Champions League match came against Hungarian side Ferencvaros and I fielded a fully rotated side as I expected an easy win. I wasn’t wrong either as Barkley gave us an early lead with his first goal for the club. Walcott scored shortly after and Chamberlain added a third before halftime. Annoyingly they managed to score in the second half but they had a player sent off shortly after. Giroud wrapped things up late on to give us a 4-1 win.

Next up was probably our biggest match of the month as we travelled to Anfield to face Liverpool. I anticipated a tough match, as they had won all their games at this point. It was a quiet start but we gave away a penalty in the 22nd minute after Balotelli was brought down. Luckily had to leave the field temporarily and Glen Jonson was left to take the penalty, which Szczesny saved. Shortly after we had been let off the hook Giroud put us in the lead with a fine finish. It wasn’t long until Liverpool pulled one back through Lallana but Koscielny restored our lead almost immediately. We were 2-1 up at halftime and held that lead for most of the second half. Liverpool’s new signing, Carlos Bacca, entered the fray late on and started to cause our defence problems. He got onto the end of a Balotelli cross a fired the ball into the net to equalise. I couldn’t believe that we had lost our lead again but a draw was a fair result.

Our first tie in the Capital One Cup came against Nottingham Forest and I fielded a few youngsters, which included Gnabry, Laycock and Cleiton. Wilshere opened the scoring from the penalty spot. Laycock became Arsenal’s youngest ever player and goalscorer as he made it 2-0. Yarmolenko and Sanchez scored the third and fourth to give us an easy win.

We strolled past Newcastle as the English lads ran the show. Welbeck scored the first after a bit of fine play by the team. Sterling scored after Krul parried Welbeck’s shot. Chamberlain curled his shot into the far corner (Henry would have been proud) to give us a comfortable win.

The month wrapped up against my old team, Valencia. Benitez set his team up to defend and I expected that it would be tougher to break them down but Barkley proved that wouldn’t be the case as he scored inside the first ten minutes. Giroud soon followed up with another goal shortly after and it wasn’t looking good for Valencia. Soon Koscielny was joining in too as he struck one in. Giroud went on to score a hattrick as we thrashed them 5-0. I gave Benitez a few tips after the match ;) (In all seriousness this just highlighted my need to move on from Valencia to a bigger club if I want to challenge in the Champions League).

It was a perfect month but we were expected to win all of our matches. The four clean sheets and number of goals we scored were particularly pleasing.

First up we travelled to Swansea. I was expecting it to be one of the tougher fixtures this month but we had too much quality for them to handle. Welbeck broke the deadlock and Sterling soon followed up with one of his own. Ljajic capitalised on a miskick from their keeper to score for 30 yards. An easy 3-0 win.

Norwich, who had recently made their way back into the premier league, failed to put up a fight. Walcott scored a fine goal relatively early on as we took control of the game. Ozil made it 2-0 before an own goal from Bassong made it 3-0. Substitute Ross Barkley was keen to get in on the act too as he scored late on. A fine performance was rewarded with a 4-0 win.

The match against Bordeaux was an important one as we were level on points before the match. They took the lead after just 5 minutes as we got off to a terrible start. Giroud scored an equaliser in the 20th minute and we went in at 1-1 at the break. Giroud gave us the lead in the second half, which Sterling extended with a tap in. They pulled one back later on to make for a nervous end but Barkley scored another goal late goal to seal the win.

The trip to Leicester was an easy one as we went unchallenged. Goals from Welbeck and Walcott gave us a 2-0 win.

Our second tie in the Capital One Cup was against another championship side, Watford. Laycock and Cleiton started again as well as most of my other backup players. Yarmolenko opened the scoring in an otherwise quiet first half but Laycock managed to score on the brink of halftime to put us two up. He added to his tally after the break but wasn't able to score his hattrick before his bedtime. Giroud came on to complete a 4-0 win.

The month ended with a league match against newly promoted Charlton. Definitely our easiest game so far this season. Ozil scored first, Welbeck scored a quickfire double and we were 3-0 up at halftime. Ozil added his second in the second half as two players were looking for their hattricks but it wasn't to be. Annoyingly, Charlton managed to score after my defenders switched off. Ljajic scored a late 30-yard screamer for the 5-1 win.

November

View attachment 318383

November began with my first defeat as Arsenal manager, against Bordeaux. Everything went wrong in this game and I have no explanation for it. I fielded a relatively strong team and my best players are the ones who let me down. Lucas Albertengo scored a brace as he proved too much for my defenders to handle. This is a costly defeat as we will finish second in the group if we both win our last two games (head-to-head rule).

After our defeat we travelled to Hull. We dominated from the kickoff and should of thrashed them. Our finishing was poor but supersub Chamberlain finally got us a goal in the 81st minute to give us a 1-0 win.

A better performance would be needed to beat Guardiola's Manchester City when we met at the Emirates. It was a very quiet first half as they looked to sit back and defend - not very Guardiola-esque. The second half didn't begin well for us as we gave away a penalty, which Fernandinho scored. I couldn't believe we had made the mistake that they had obviously been waiting for, but Giroud pulled one back to save our blushes. Ozil later put us in the lead with our first goal from a freekick this season! I was delighted and three points against title rivals Man City would be excellent but I expected a nervy finish. However, Man City hardly had a chance and Ozil scored with his final kick of the game to give us a 3-1 win.

An easy fixture in the Champions League followed as we faced Ferencvaros. I expected a big win and the boys delivered. Welbeck opened with a brace and Walcott scored a brace of his own shortly after but neither of them went on to score hattrick. Ljajic scored a fine goal to top off a fine performance and seal a 5-0 win.

November came to a close with the North London Derby at White Hart Lane. A must win game against our fiercest of rivals. It was a tight contest as Tottenham were up for the fight. Lamela and Eriksen were causing us all sorts of problems whenever they cut in off the wings. Even Soldado (he has actually scored in the prem this season - wtf??) was coming close on the odd occasion. Neither side was able to find the net until Yarmolenko crossed to Welbeck who headed it home in the final minutes to give us the 1-0 win!!!

We're 8 points clear at the top of the table and we're still unbeaten in the league! Our players are featuring in all the right charts too, which is pleasing. Probably the biggest month of the season is up next and if we're still unbeaten at the end of that we would be clear favourites to win the league.

A very long month as we played nine games but it went very well as we are still unbeaten in the league but we were knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Stoke. I'm not going to cover every match, just the important ones.

First up was a league match against Everton. I expected a tougher contest but we were easily the better team. de Vrij put us in the lead with a near post header off Ozil's corner. Welbeck scored his first of many this month shortly before Ozil put us three up. de Vrij scored his second header of the game but he switched off at the back, which let Eto'o through on goal who smashed it home and it ended at 4-1.

We travelled to Valencia needing a win if we had any hopes of topping the group. We thrashed them yet again but they did manage to get on the scoresheet this time with Negredo getting a brace. Unfortunately Bordeaux won their match which meant we finished 2nd thanks to the head-to-head rule.

We travelled to the Brittania to face Stoke on a cold winters night hoping to progress further in the Capital One Cup but we put in one of our worst performances of the season. They took the lead twice but we equalised immediately each time, which sent the contest to extra time where we were dreadful and hardly managed and effort on goal. We went crashing out of the cup and deservedly so, although I wasn't too disappointed as its not my priority.

Chelsea came to the Emirates and really got lucky. They took the lead after Koscielny put the ball in his own net but we were in control of the game and Sanchez scored an equaliser and then scored his second in the second half proving he's the man for the big occasion. It didn't end there though as Chelsea equalised with a scrappy goal. Despite our dominance we weren't able to score another and it ended 2-2.

The board offered me the opportunity to change my expectations for the season and it was far too tempting not to. I was expected to qualify for the Champions League but being ten points clear I said we would win the league. It would be a massive failure if we didn't anyway. So I now have a transfer budget of £31m and a remaining wage budget of about £600k a week...

His heading and finishing are 17 too, the only thing letting him down is a few of his mental attributes. Can't wait to see how good this lad will be one day, I'm expecting big things.

Any ideas who you're going to buy?

I want to bring in someone with world-class ability either upfront or in defence, I've had a look around at a few players and their clubs have told me to kindly f*** off.

Another long month, which went very well as we won six of the seven matches we played. I'll just cover the big matches.

We travelled to Old Trafford, after thumping Southampton, to face Man United. We got off to a brilliant start as Giroud got on the end of a cross to give us the lead after four minutes. We still held our lead at the break despite heavy pressure from United's attack. The second half began as the first did with Giroud scoring another, which gave us a two goal lead. The game was far from over though and van Persie reminded us of that as he scored a fine goal to put them back in with a chance. Koscielny then conceded a penalty and threw away our lead as van Persie scored his second of the game. I couldn't believe that we had thrown away a two goal lead but a draw was probably a fortunate result for us.

View attachment 317384

We faced Liverpool at the Emirates this month and I was keen to show them who the better team was after our draw at Anfield. We got off to another great start as Welbeck fired us into the lead in the 11th minute. Ozil doubled the lead shortly after the half-hour mark and Sanchez scored the third as we went in 3-0 up at halftime. Balotelli scored a fine goal from outside the box as they pulled one back but it proved to be little more than a consolation goal as we ran out 3-1 winners.

10 points clear at the top of the table, the teams I expected to challenge us have dropped points against fairly poor teams and we just haven't dropped many points at all.

Transfers

I was given a fair bit of money to spend in the January window and I was really keen on bringing some world-class talent into the club either upfront or a defender. There was a fair number of players that were interested such as Lewandowski but Bayern wouldn't budge below £70m and that was a bit much. Same story with Diego Costa and Aguero. I did attempt to go for Vincent Aboubakar but he chose PSG over us. At the back I went for Hummels first off but he wasn't interested in joining us. Kompany was interested but Man City were not. Sergio Ramos was a very possible move, he was interested and Real Madrid would of sold but I pulled the plug as I didn't see the point in paying him £200k a week and not being able to play him in the Champions League. I went for Phil Jones but United wanted £118m (pffffff) so I took that as a no. I could of signed Mustafi or Stones but I cancelled the deals as they weren't improvements on the squad and they both asked for ridiculous wages. So in the end, no one came in. Very anti-climatic. The only transfer we did see was Sanogo going to Nottingham Forest for £2.5m and I was pleased to see the back of him.

This happened though:

February

View attachment 317175

First up this month was league match against Swansea at home. We got off to a flier as de Vrij nodded a corner in the first minute. Sterling grabbed a second soon after with a fine solo run. Welbeck was soon in on the action as the team put together a nice bit of play with him finishing it off. Not too long after it was 4-0 with Ozil scoring the goal this time. Annoyingly Ashley Williams grabbed a goal for Swansea right before halftime. Walcott made it five early in the second half but Hemed scored another consolation goal right after that. That's where the scoring frenzy ended as we won 5-2.

The next match we travelled to Norwich where we had a hard time finding the net and Khedira went off injured after four minutes (he will be out for 6 weeks). Yarmolenko was the unlikely scorer as he climbed up to head in Wilshere's free kick, which was enough for us to scrape a 1-0 win.

The league match against Leicester had a lively start as Welbeck scored within the first two minutes of the match but Dwight Gale soon equalised with a 30-yard screamer. Ljajic restored our lead not too long after with a free-kick that the keeper probably should've saved. We were poor in front of goal but we got the win.

I was thankful to draw Derby in the FA Cup but they proved to me that they are a decent side as they dominated the tie. We were perhaps fortunate that they didn't manage to score with one of their earlier chances and the first game came from Welbeck in the 84th minute. I thought we had nicked a win but they equalised with a fantastic goal in the dying minutes of the game to force a replay.

The Champions League tie against Barcelona followed our performance and I was hoping that we would be able to keep a clean sheet or at least avoid defeat. We started well and had a couple of good opportunities to score but ter Stegen was in fine form. It wasn't long until they scored though as Rakitic, of all people, managed to beat Szczesny from outside the box to put them in the lead. Just what I didn't want to happen. We fought hard to get back into the match but Sterling, Ozil, and Welbeck were rubbish and wasted pretty much every chance we had. It ended 0-1 and we would now have to get a result at the Camp Nou.

View attachment 317174

We got back to winning ways against Charlton. We were gifted an early goal as Welbeck's effort was saved (which he should of scored) but the keeper pulled the ball into his own net to give us the lead. Welbeck did score however in the second half, which gave us a 2-0 win.

In the replay against Derby we put in a much better performance. They scored a comical own goal to give us the lead as their left-back passed it back to their keeper who missed the ball and watched it roll into his net, the pressure from Giroud must be credited though. I thought we were going to be in for another tough contest at the end of the first half but Chamberlain came out all guns blazing as he ran the show and scored early in the second half. His second goal didn't come until the 82nd minute, which was followed by a Yarmolenko goal to give us a 4-0 win.

A long month ended against Hull, who proved hard to beat yet again although they never troubled our goal (0 shots). We put in an excellent performance but their keeper had the game of his life and made some unreal saves (literally, unreal SI). It took a wonder goal from Giroud, who scored on the turn from 30 yards, to beat the keeper. A 1-0 win that deserved to be 5-0.

Thanks mate, really appreciate it. Merry Christmas to you too!

When I started playing I found it impossible to win and I thought this was the worst game ever but I couldn't stop playing it! Eventually I stumbled upon a tactic that worked very well for me and my team, ever since then I have built my tactic around my three or four best players with them in their favoured position and role (or something that they're very good at) and then filled in the rest of the positions in a formation that looks balanced. I like to keep the team instructions simple and how I want the team to play, which should also benefit my best players. The tactic is very important in FM but you also have to think like a real manager would, too many transfers will unsettle the team or ruin its balance etc. Everything plays a factor really, the training has to be right, the players morale has to be good and you also have to adapt, to other teams and during matches.

My advice would be to do save first with a team like Madrid, Barca or Bayern to get the hang of it and keep things simple. Go around the forums and see what people have to say and try pick up a few tips, perhaps use a tactic that someone else has had a lot of success with. Sorry for blabbering on but FM has taken over your life now, as it has mine! ;)

Wow, thanks a lot. Anyway, please share more about your journey. It is **** interesting to read though.

March

View attachment 317064

March kicked off with a trip to the etihad to play Man City who were the favourites in this match but we got off to a great start as Sanchez proved his love for the big matches and gave us the lead after 8 minutes. It was an even contest and City pulled one back through Navas who put the ball in the top corner of the near post. Things went from bad to worse as Gibbs conceded a penalty after bringing down Navas in the box, Toure converted the pen as he always does. We didn't trail for long though as Welbeck rekindled his Manchester spirit and scored an equaliser after beating their offside trap before adding another on the brink of halftime to give us a 3-2 at the interval. Gibbs was subbed off at halftime with his woeful match rating of 4.8 and the change seemed to sure up our defence in a quieter second half. Walcott's pace was causing Alex Sandro problems, which lead to him shoving Theo down in the box for a penalty. I closed my eyes as Welbeck stepped up to take the penalty but he had ice running through his veins at this stage and fired it into the back of the net to put the game beyond doubt. A thrilling 4-2 victory for us!

View attachment 317055

I was pleased to draw Swansea in the FA Cup as we had stuffed them on the previous two occasions we had met but the football gods decided that we wouldn't be scoring today even though we were the far better team. A single goal from Hemed was enough to put an end to our cup hopes.

View attachment 317054

Our sticky FA Cup tie was followed by a trip to Barcelona where we would have to score at least twice if we were to have any chance of progressing. We got off to the worst imaginable start as they were awarded a penalty (softest pen I've ever seen) and Messi scored it, leaving us with a mountain to climb. We had a couple of chances that we probably should've scored before Neymar scored to put them 2-0 up (3-0 on agg.) A terrible first half had thankfully ended but we were effectively out of the tie at this stage. Giroud scored what seemed to be a consolation at the start of the second half and I wasn't exactly jumping for joy. Walcott had a goal disallowed for offside, I will let you decide if it was offside (they're the red line):
View attachment 317053
It looked as though it would end at 2-1 but Giroud scored a goal in the 89th minute to give us a glimmer of hope! Busquets smashed those hopes though as he (of all people) scored in the dying minutes to give them a 3-2 win. It's fair to say that I felt hard done by.

View attachment 317052

A North London Derby was just what we needed to lift our spirits as I was sure that we would be too good for Tottenham at home. Welbeck had his scoring boots on yet again as he scored in just the 6th minute but Lamela showed what he is capable of as his mazy run ended with a fine strike to put them back on level terms. Ozil was having none of it though as it wasn't long until his curling shot restored our lead. Danny got in on the action again in the first half to give us a two goal lead. We shut up shop in the second half as the Derby ended 3-1.

View attachment 317056

A trip to Goodison Park would bring the month to an end as we faced a high-flying Everton. I didn't expect them outperform us the way they did as they absolutely dominated them match. Lukaku scored a hattrick to absolutely humiliate us in our first league defeat of the season. de Vrij was sent off which only added to our misery. Sanchez grabbed a consolation goal in the last minute to avoid absolute humiliation.

None of them are worthy of an award, they were all absolutely s*** this month.

April & May

View attachment 316695

April began with a match against Sunderland where a draw would of been enough to clinch the title. I certainly wasn't setting up to draw though as I fielded a full strength side. Ozil scored the goal that put both our hands on the trophy but Giroud scored another late on just to make sure it was ours.

View attachment 316693

I expected us to have a bit of a hangover from the celebrations when we travelled to Crystal Palace. They scored first with a magnificent goal from Pjaca and controlled the game thereafter but Ozil scored in the second half to help us avoid defeat.

I wanted the lads to put in a good performance against Aston Villa for the home fans as we would lift the title after the game and they didn't disappoint. Welbeck scored first as he equalised the great Thierry Henry's record for most league goals in a season by an Arsenal player. Sterling scored soon after to put us in a comfortable position. We perhaps could of scored a couple more but I was pleased with the performance considering we had already won the title.

View attachment 316683

We travelled to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, in my 100th game in management, who were looking to cement 2nd place and I knew that we would probably lose. We didn't start too badly as they didn't manage to find the net until after the half hour mark but Szczesny should of saved Hazard's shot. We didn't take long to equalise though as Ljajic found the net after Welbeck squared the ball. Chelsea came out as a much better team in the second half as Terry scored from a corner and Oscar soon followed up with another goal, Szczesny should of done better on both occasions. Welbeck did pull a goal back as it seemed like there may be an interesting end to the game but Costa then scored to put the game out of our reach. Welbeck scored in the last minutes, which broke Henry's record but proved to be no more than a consolation goal.

View attachment 316681

View attachment 316680

Our final match at home this season was against Burnley who proved no match for us as we thrashed them. We were 3-0 up after 10 minutes with goals from Mertesacker, Walcott, and Welbeck, who was now just two goals away from setting the new record for most goals in a premier league season. Chamberlain scored very late on for his 10th of the season.

View attachment 316677

The season came to an end with a trip to Wales to play Cardiff. They were in with a chance of escaping relegation if they were able to beat us but they never put up much of a fight. Just two minutes in and Chamberlain had already scored. Welbeck scored half an hour into the match to equal Andy Cole's record for most goals in a premier league season. Not long into the second half Welbeck scored again to set the new record with 35 goals in the league this season. Sterling scored shortly after to give us a 4-0 win.

Always nice to hear, If you're struggling in the cups then use this tactic, I found it on here and it works well.
I use it for my Man Utd save and I've won the Capital One Cup and breezed into the FA Cup final where I was beaten by Chelsea.
