Koflok, which of your players do you use to take the set pieces? You have them set up a certain way, so I presume a player in a particular position would have to take it?

Thanks for answering my question on the last page, your advice is greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks for the setting. Will definitely test it out and probably implement it on the next version. Cheers
I just noticed that on the corners I have the MCL & MCR mixed up. The MCR (adv. playmaker) should be marking small player and the MCL (DL playmaker) man marking.

The new version have a better defense I think since we use high pressing and push up the d-line which limits opponent's play.
It somehow manage to increase our possession significantly.
My slowest player is around 14 pace/acceleration so i'll try with a high line for a bit. Btw I never used the aggressive tackling you've set. Don't your attacking players get alot of red cards if they have low tackling but go in hard?

I've updated it in BETA version, in which the AMR and AML are the default taker.
Their attacking corner taker are on 'forward'.
You may change the taker of course, just make sure you swap their role with AMR/L's role.

In-swing taker. Left foot takes right corner, vice versa.
Lots of heading from DCR which is at the far post

No worries man. Cheers

Ooh I see okay then cool. Thanks

Well 14 pace/accel is already more than enough I think. Assuming the mental attributes are decent.
I would be recommending at least 12/13 acceleration/pace for top flight team.

Koflok, is there a particular training schedule that you use?

Great stuff in this thread by the way.

Looks like the updated version is going to be delayed to next week guys.

I thought I've found the 'right' combinations but suddenly after playing around I found another dilemma.
Let me share it

Through balls mixed to centre back : I know it sound weird, but somehow it allows them to not playing the ball in our own area too long. Since they are on short passing, through balls encourages them to pass forward, not to open space but to a person in front. Anyone want to comment on this?

Run with ball mixed to front three and through ball to mixed: Ok so front 3 settings were the one I'm most confident about since it produces magic. But somehow it was a little bit individualistic. I played around with the settings and changed through balls and run with ball and surprisingly, the build up is so much better to see. I'm not sure regarding the result though.

They don't just run like sparta and shoot. Or forces passes - which is rarely really. But this allows them to take time, not slowing down the tempo but just looking for better opportunities I think. The bad thing is, my striker who usually runs riot is somehow tamer and doesn't score enough.

Comments? Should I stick with

Striker : RWB often, through balls often
Wingers : RWB sometimes (or often?), through balls often

or.. help me choose
Striker : RWB often/sometimes, through balls often/sometimes
Winers : RWB often/sometimes, through balls often/sometimes.
(in this case if through ball is sometimes then RWB has to be sometimes as well so that they create chances for striker rather than run)

I haven't really seen the tactic just yet (Stupid copy still hasn't arrived). But IMO the most logical one would be Striker RWB Often, Through Balls Sometimes and Wingers other way around. But as I said, I haven't played yet.

Yes I reckon that too would be the most logical setting.

But the thing is

With, Striker through balls often, the striker will not force to run pass the defender, he will decide whether to dribble or pass in a 50%-50% chance. The front 3 now create chances for each other and the goalscoring burden is not all on the striker.

With Wingers with RWB often, as some suggested, cause havoc to the defense. However I would like them to through ball more than they run. So yeah I'll probably keep RWB at sometimes.

With the front 3 have RWB and through balls on sometimes, they just 'looks like' play better. Keeping the ball on the edge of the box and unleashing a run or pass when opportunity arises and not forcing things too much. In a sentence, they work the ball into the box better.

So yeah there's my dilemma in a post. :D

Just got truly raped by spurs 5-1 (I am Arsenal) and a game earlier in the season I got beat 3-1 at home by West Brom. This tactic seems to do very well some games but terrible the next. Not sure it is sustainable. (Yes I am fully fluid in the tactic)

koflok

hi its working well with my barrow team very poor budget and media prediction position is 17th only problem is players get tired very quikly wich reflects on some of my results as most of my first team can only play 2/3 games in a row and unfortunatly seems to have stopped working in the last few games

Well there was a string of away loses/draws which leads to the final home loss. I reckon it's a mater of motivation.
You may want to held a team meeting to boost their morale. And do well on the pep talk.

Other than that maybe you should rotate your player, particularly the front 3 + midfielder. If you're winning already, rest your star players.

If you can supply me with more info maybe I can help you more. Have you been noticing different during matches?
Has passing been bad. Or enough CCC but not enough finishing. Or what?

Hey Koflok, I really like your tactic, but you're definitely right there's something just not right defensively. I'm using Southend United in League 2 with your current beta build and I've been very successful offensively, but usually not good enough on the defensive end. I've noticed I struggle against fast attacking mids, so for this I set the line back quite a bit (my back 4 all have around 10-11 pace), that helps a bit but there's one glaring problem...
When defending in my final third and the opposing team is passing the ball around the outside of the box, I usually get scored on. There's too much space between the defenders and the opposing team it seems. There also seems to be a lot of "open spaces." How can I fix this? Could this be caused by zonal marking?
Thanks for all your responses Koflok

Arsenal

Hi Koflok, I am going to start arsenal tonight with your tactics, I am thinking place van persie as AMR, buying cavani in the front, and either gotze or neymar on the left, which one u suggest as i cant decide both are going to do well i think, and do u think need to reinforce midfield to the team, i may buy hamsik if i still have enough funds

I'm really impressed with this tactic! I'm playing as Stockport County in the Blue Square Bet Premier I'm currently sitting top of the table after 29 games only loosing 3 in that time. My best result by far though came in the 3rd round of the F.A cup beating Liverpool 5-1, i was amazed possibly one of my best result ever on ant football manager game. Iv got Aston villa in the 4th round, I'll let you know how i get on.
Thanks for the great tactic anyway

I dont want to sound negative or bad, but if someone would create a tactic that would win every game by few goals margin, then the game would get boring quite fast. As in real life, in FM you are meant to lose sooner or later, even if it breaks your 50 games unbeaten run.

Great tactics man!

Hey guys sorry I've been really busy lately. I got exams this week so after I finish I will definitely going into FM mode again.

I'm happy that the tactic is somewhat working for some of you guys. especially those who tries it in lower league. Appreciate it man.

Just to keep update, here's the current defense which most likely will implemented in the next update as well as front settings.
1. Push up d line. First notch of push up. If you got slower back, just pull it back a 2-3 notches
2. More clossing. Increase 4 notches of closing down for the back four. Do this manually (one by one in player instruction)
3. Play offside trap! I forgot to turn this on previously despite the high d-line
4. Full back Run From Deep to 'often'. This is not defend but help in build up plays.
5. Run From Deep, Run With Ball MCL = Rarely, Run From Deep, Run With Ball MCR = Sometimes.
6. No hold up ball for DMC. Yes for MCL.

This are not yet decided. HELP ME TEST IT OUT GUYS. The sooner I get this the sooner the tactic will be out

7. Still confused as to winger settings.
RWB sometimes + through ball often OR
RWB Often + Through ball often OR
RWB sometimes + through ball sometimes

8. Same as striker
RWB Often + Through ball sometimes OR
RWB Often + through ball often OR
RWB sometimes + through ball sometimes

RvP done great on AMR. Cavani will be a good striker especially with RvP in the winger as he'll drop deep and supply balls to RvP.
Gervinho plays well in AML btw, you don't really have to buy anyone. You still got Arshavin as well.
I would be more concerned on MCR. There is no genuine playmaker in Arsenal. Arteta is good for MCL as he drops deep. But MCR I reckon someonlike Hamsik would be good. OR you may want to try Marvin Martin. He good the perfect PPMs for playmaker.

Thanks!

I totally agree with what you said. This tactic, is in no way, a miracle winning tactic. If it is, FM would be still the 2001 and this was Diablo (and I'm still 9). I've made this tactic just because it has good winning rate on me and I just like the way it plays. I hope by sharing here we all can improve it together. I know perfection isn't possible but let's try something close. At least make the plays as entertaining and goal scoring as possible as most people want to see.

Cheers.

I think it was because lack of closing down.
Have you been using the BETA tactic? You can try the settings I mentioned above.

Hi Koflok, thank you for this tactic; I think it's very nice.
I start a new career with ACF Fiorentina and I have some questions:

1) Is Cerci a good player as AMR?
2) Which is better as striker: Gilardino or Nilmar (I can buy him)??

Thank you very much for your disposability!!

P.S.: Sorry for my English, I'm Italian :D
