This is an offer that I can't refuse, I am aware that he probably has the potential the be the best Central Midfielder in the world but I feel like this is the right thing for the team, now I can heavily invest in the squad.​

 Another busy window for us, it was evident after our first season back in Europe that the squad needed strengthening, nearer the end of our European campaign our League form really started to suffer, now we are in the Champions League we really need a bigger and stronger squad. The sale of Odergaard really helped me to go out and get the players needed. I am also happy to have brought in 5 new English youngsters on permanent deals as well. Here are some of the players brought in..

I only had 1 out'n'out striker in the squad so it was important to bring in someone to support Ayoze. I am really happy to bring Kane in, great English talent and he scored 18 goals in the league last season.


Patrick Roberts - £12.5 Million

I always had Roberts in mind as a player I wanted to manage, when I noticed he had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave to a club in a higher division I snapped him up. He will rotate nicely with Tariq and Savitskiy this season


Joe Gomez - £8 Million

Another player with a contract clause and he is a great addition to our defence, had a great season with Celtic last season and I hope he and Wisdom can strike up a great partnership.

Great bargain for such a good young talent at LB, regretfully we had to let Oviedo go and this guy will be the deputy to Grimaldo all season whilst he is on loan with us, hopefully he will be ready to step up to the first team next season.

Another great deal, shows some brilliant potential. I am not sure where he fits in my side yet, no one would take him on loan either. If he doesn't quite make it in my team I am sure I can sell for a profit at a later date.

My scouts seem to think this guy will be something special and his starts are pretty good for an 18 year old. Happy to have brought in more English talent, just can't work out why Arsenal wouldn' want to keep him?

I found this guy by chance, solid stats for a very young English keeper and again my scouts suggest he has the potential to be my number 1 eventually. Will be my number 2 and shadow Romero for as long as possible.

Nemanja Matic - Much needed experience in the DM position, instantly into my team.
Emre Can - i took a risk as he wasn't great on loan last season, great utility man.
Eric Dier - Listed by Tottenham, I wanted to loan him in before committing to a permanent deal.
Alex Grimaldo - After a late sale of Oviedo I needed to bring someone in, with limited options I think Alex is a good choice.

Nothing that really stood out, good results against Roma and Anderlecht. Some solid results but for me these matches are purely about fitness and allowing the new players to blend in. One thing of note was Kane got a few good goals and settled pretty well.

Give or take a few positions, I think this is what my first team will look like this season, its certainly who will be starting on our opening Premiership match against Chelsea. I think the squad has developed well over the past few seasons and this is by far the strongest the team has looked since I took charge.​

Champions League Qualifying Draw

This is a really tough draw and already I am feeling unsure as to whether we can get through to the group stages. Porto beat Greek side Panathinaikos 6-0 on aggregate in the previous round and they are a very good side, we will need to be at our best in both legs to get a the result we want.​
 
It's nice you try to focus on English players. That man Anic looks good, never heard of him. There must be some ulterior motive behind Ozil's transfer haha. Good luck with Porto!

Cheers buddy, I am trying to build a good English base to the team. He hasn't featured yet, I will try him in a few cup games and see how he does. Yeh that transfer seemed strange to me, he still had a value of £22million at the time as well.

So the season started off with a thumping at the Hands of Chelsea. We were 1-0 up at half time and in control, the second half was one of the biggest collapses I have ever suffered. Two great 2-1 wins home and away to Porto in the Champions League sent us through, not without it scares though. Once again we did things the hard way against Newcastle, going ahead 3-0 before letting in 2 late goals for a tense finish. Much work is needed on our defence.

We have been handed a really tough group but we have already met our expectations in the competition so we are just going to go out and enjoy ourselves, especially both legs against Barca. If nothing else, this will be a great experience for our young squad.

All things considered this has to go down as a good month despite the poor losses to Forest in the league and Zenit in the Champions League. A professional win in the Capital Cup to QPR and 3 very good wins and clean sheets in the League to Palace, Brighton and Hull.

I played through 2 months and there has been some terrible and some great results. Stand out score lines being the big loss to Barca, we just couldnt handle Messi, Suarez and Neymar, then followed by another poor loss to Swansea. Things then picked up with a great 3-0 domination in the derby to Man Utd at home, a absolute stormer at Inter and a win at Arsenal courtesy of the hat trick hero Savitskiy. November was a month that returned back to a bit of normality, each result was pretty much how I would of predicted. Absolutely delighted with the win at Zenit which secured our Qualification for the 2nd round of the Champions League.

He may have only chipped in with 2 goals in the past 2 months but he averaged 7.9 over 9 games, he managed to rack up 5 assists and in general he has bossed our team.

An unbeaten month in the league with 3 wins and 3 draws. All three draws at the hands of Norwich, Everton and Tottenham were very frustrating as we was leading in each of these games before letting the lead slip to late goals. The Man City game was never in any doubt despite getting a helping hand in both goals, we had better possession and many more shots. The result at Bournemouth was standard although at half time we was 1-0 down, it took a grilling half time team talk for the team to turn on the performance. I won't go too much into Barca as this was a 2nd team and we were already through. Overall a good month.

Pavel had another great month which has led him to 2nd in the top scorers stats after scoring 5 goals in December, another couple of assists and and overall rating of over 8.

Unfortunately we seem to be entering a phase where players are announcing they are unhappy, they either want to leave for bigger clubs or are unhappy at the lack of 1st team football. Savitiskiy has announced he wants to leave for Bayern Munich and has stated that I have to sell him in the next window despite my pleas. This window is going to be a real struggle and I just have to hope I can get through January without too many transfer casualties.

So I was looking on the transfer list and I see that Martin Odergaard has been listed by Real Madrid, after 6 months of chasing and unsettling him, Real have listed him for £32M just 6 months after paying over £50M for him. I can only assume he was unhappy about the lack of game time.​
 
Yeah, those 'realistic' FM transfers. Wait till they lower the price to ~10M so you can bought him back and then sell again for another 50M haha

Madrid accepted a £22M offer (not that I had the funds) and he rejected a return back to Leeds :(

When I saw all of Europe's biggest clubs were interested in Desmet I decided to make an offer and I am delighted he chose Elland Road as his new home, he looks like a great talent but I sent him on loan to RC Lens for some first team experience.

I had an offer in place to sign Hernandez from Man Utd as they have just signed Carlos Fierro and Javier found himself listed. I then realised Wilson was also on the list for just £1.4 Million, James is a fantastic English talent and I am sure once he settles he will be a big success.


Wayne Rooney - Free Transfer

My scouts brought to my attention that Wayne Rooney was available on a free transfer so I offered a contract. Wayne will bring a wealth of experience for the clubs youngsters and can only help us in our challenge to grow as a club.

Despite him having a very good season last term, he wasn't happy with the lack of matches and in the 15 appearances he made this season he only managed 1 goal. I was happy to have made a good profit as well.
