The month of January started off with a great win against Chelsea, Kane with a brilliant brace to win us the match. The FA Cup win against Gillingham was again mostly our second team so the result was very pleasing. I was very frustrated with draws in the league against Newcastle and Palace, teams we should have beaten but we just couldn't finish our chances. Wins at Forest and Hull were welcome as we continue to try and push for the top four. We have a replay set up against Leicester which we could have done without but I have faith that we will proceed through.

After an unbeaten month in the league we have managed to improve our position in the league, I am still holding out hopes of another top four finish.

A great 1st month from the Barcelona Loanee, he grabbed a goal and has built up a really good understanding with Tielemans. He has averaged 7.93 in 4 matches with a goal and 2 assists, he also received a PoM award on his debut with a 9/10 performance.

I have had a manic weekend and played through to the end of the season so I am just going to sum up the last few months and then get stuck straight into building the squad for next season again.

Season Objectives Summary

Compete to qualify for Europe via League placement - Achieved
Win domestic cup competition - Failed

So we did meet our first objective however based on the fact we got through to the knockout stages of the Champions League this season it has left me slightly disappointed that we only managed to get Europa League next season. We didn't come close to our second objective but I plan to give the squad much more depth for the coming season. I think its just a case of needing to manage expectations and realise we have still done very well in the past 4 years and we are still a young and very talented team.

It is, many of the players still have a few years until their peak. That is the most difficult thing, specially now we don't have Champions League next season, I may have to accept I may lose one or two players. Cheers buddy, much appreciated!

I'm not now mate, although they were awesome, your tactics were what kept me in the Premiership in my second season. I wanted to make the tactics my own again. Appreciate the help though dude!

Typically my previous statement was premature. I was announced as the new manager of the England squad after Martinez was sacked for England's poor performance in the World Cup. However my previous save was corrupted and didn't open. I spent all of last night pretty much making the same transfers etc. so I will be updating again tonight, however this time Frank Rijkaard got the job over me. Still some big transfers in my next update.

Great prospect, we have a lot of competition in the right wing position but he will be given plenty of opportunity to stake his place.

I have been trying to sign Sheyi since my first season but Liverpool wouldn't drop their valuation. I am pleased to have acquired another great English talent.

I didn't need anymore cover in the CM position but I saw he was available for just £4 Million and thought it was a great deal and he adds to our ever growing home grown talent.

Adama is one of four right wingers in the squad and will have to fight for his place but again £1.4 Million is a bargain.

I set out at the beginning of the window with the plan to really strengthen our CB options and Ginter is a fantastic addition, strong, young, all round great CB.

Even though scout reports suggest Bertrand isn't the best LB in the world, I know he will be a great addition and he is a the current England LB as well.


Gaston Gil Romero - £7.25 million

Everyone knows Gil Romero, I needed a strong, determined and defensive style DM/CM and he fit the bill perfectly, especially as he was only £7.25M.


Yaroslav Rakitskyi - £18.25 Million

As I mentioned, I needed to improve our options in defence and Rakitskyi offers experience as well as very, very good defensive attributes.

This was another purchase that in all honesty was not necessarily needed, however he is a great player and can only add to our options up top.


Main Transfers Out

Youri Tielemans - £59 MiIlion
As much as I tried, I could not stop this move from happening, I feel I have signed good replacements though and the high fee received allowed us to reinvest into the squad.

Humam Tariq - £24 Million
Tariq was another player I tried desperately to keep hold of but we didn't have the financial power or lure of Champions League football.


All other transfers were either due to a lack of first team football, poor development or just not good enough for the squad. One other transfer out worth mentioning was the release of Rooney, only featured in a handful of matches last year and he really didnt perform well, we agreed it would be best if he and Leeds part ways.​

Despite identifying these players as my 'Key' players, there are plenty others that are of a good standard for the Championship, many of whom are Italian. I will be looking to move a lot of these players on as I want to build up a kitty to revamp the squad with young, hungry talent.​

It doesn't look like your squad is weaker without Tielemans and Tariq and you have more English players :) You know your club has grown big when you buy lpayers for around 100M in one transfer window ;) Can't wait for the season!

If I am honest I am not going to miss Tariq too much as he was more of a back up player near the end of last season, but Tielemans will be missed. I am sure between Hilalovic, Alli, Barkley, Gil Romero and Ojo we will cope :) I really enjoy having a squad of home-grown talent, I think I can almost field an entire team of English players now.

I had a feeling something wasn't right with my laptop and yet I didn't back up. I did a virus check and found out I had a few lurking around, when I had them removed it has completely cleared all of my saved games so that I now have ZERO.

****** off is no where near close to how I feel right now but there is nothing I can do about it now. Thanks to everyone that followed/read, it was much appreciated. I am going to jump straight back into new story.. any ideas for a good team or challenge?
