This was a tough result to take as we fall at the last hurdle for the 2nd year in a row in a Domestic Cup. As you can see we were by far the better team and we deserved to be victors, the most agonising thing of it all was the way in which we lost, letting Icardi get free in the box for a close range header from 2 yards in the last second of the game.

The months started off very poorly with a 5-2 mauling at the hands of our rivals Man Utd and we really did get mauled. We then went to Holland to face PSV and the result wasn't much better, the only saving grace was the 2 away goals which would later prove important. The FA Cup exit against Sunderland was expected as I put out a weaker team in order to focus on other more important matches. We faced PSV again, this time at home and we did just enough to managed to secure a place in the next round where we face Everton. The West Ham result was really pleasing as we hadn't played in the League since the loss at Man Utd and we needed to keep pressure on other around us. The month then finished as it started with a disappointing and morale crushing loss.

Still 7th in the league and we still stand a really good chance of a European finish if we can have a strong finish to the season.

A really solid month again from the Spanish forward, notched up another 4 goals for the season but also is developing into a real team player up top. He now has 12 goals in the league and 22 in all competitions.​

I know, good timing lol. My defence seems to have 6 or 7 games of awesome performances and then their form just dips for 5 games or so!

Cheers mate, really appreciate the feedback :) I was worried I wasn't giving enough detail, some peoples stories on here are unreal, I just don't have the time. Next update coming this evening!
 
Excellent story. Some great signings. Just signed Alli in my 3rd season with Sunderland, not sure whether to use him yet or not.

Cheers buddy. His stats haven't developed as much as I would have hoped, big teams keep offering big money for him though, I really want to keep hold of him so I can eventually develop a good English core to the team.

So our European run comes to an end at the hands of Everton, unlucky draw in the away leg and then to lose in identical fashion to Liverpool the Capital One Cup final, dominate the game and have twice as many chances to conceed in the dying minutes of the game. Poor results against Villa and Arsenal really started to make our chances of qualifying for Europe look bleak, that was until we got pay back on the Toffee's, Leo and Tariq getting a hat-trick. Two close wins finished off the month and we are beginning to realise the reality that Champions League is a possibility next season..

Now with just the league to focus on I hope that we can give our all to push for a Champions League spot. If I assume that Liverpool win their game in hand, that will put us and Chelsea on equal points with not much in it on goal difference and Liverpool 2 points ahead with just a few extra goals.

3 really good wins against Sunderland, Hull and Southampton, bossed each of these games and the result never looked in any doubt. At this point we were 3rd and our position was looking really strong, however Chelsea and Liverpool had a game in hand, when we drew to Bournemouth the League changed almost drastically..

We are now just a possible 4 wins away from a 3rd place finish and Champions League football next season, it really is in our hands, Arsenal are still a threat to us but City are well out of reach, especially with that goal difference of -2.

We have arguably the tougher of the fixtures with both City and Liverpool to play. Looks like the Liverpool game could be the decider.

We have just easily brushed aside both of Liverpool's other opponents so they should get the 6 points there, its just whether they can triumph against us at Elland Road on the final day.


Chelsea

Chelsea do have some difficult games, Arsenal at the Emirates won't be easy and QPR just beat Liverpool 4-2 at Anfield. Also they have the 2 legs of a Champions League Semi-Final to contend with between fixtures.

What a match, a match we triumphed to secure Champions League football next season! It was end to end stuff with Balotelli getting a quick fire brace in 3 minutes to turn the game on its head after Savitskiy's opener. Hazard came on and shortly after got an equalizing goal. Minutes later Odergaard scored a screamer from 27 yards to put us back in the lead, we then sat back and soaked up the pressure, and with that a place with Europe's elite awaits us!!

We have just about made it, as I expected though it did come down to the final match against Liverpool. It was a nail biting finish but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I know, its a shame we let ourselves down against the weaker sides sometimes. I definitely want to be pushing for top 3 next season although the transfer funds are on the low side again!
 
Your not too far away from being a top, top side. All your best players are young so with their natural progression you should start to make some in roads towards 1st place

We are getting there, although I feel like I want to cash in on Savitskiy, Tariq and Odergaard, I would easily get £80-100 Million to rebuild the squad with English talent. Not sure what to do really.

DO you have English talent in mind? Josh Murphy is excellant and I like the look of Patrick roberts but I'm not sure you will find other ENglish players better than the 1's you have

No point changing if the players you bring in are worse
 
I would look at Patrick Roberts, Sheyi Ojo and Jorden Ibe or The Ox.

I think its just Savitskiy, Tariq and Odergaard are players that are so over used in FM, I want a more original squad and I do really want to focus on English talent. Its a risk but I may have to take it!
