Daniel Frahn was amazing this season. Pretty much a goal a game. The Captain has been with the club and has won four promotions, showing that he is capable of stepping up at each level. Hopefully he can do it in the top flight too.

Very happy to see the core of the team being young players who I have tied down to contracts. I have an agreement with Fiorentina for Rebic for £4.2m and it's all dependant on him agreeing personal terms so watch this space. I have also enquired about Grealish and Gimenez but they look like no go's for the time being.​

It's becoming increasingly difficult to get any players in on loan due the wages the clubs demand we pay, but we have managed to steal this gem from Basle to bulk out our squad.​

The German Super Cup.. I suppose it's amazing that we even qualified to play in this given that we were in the league below last season. We were completely, outclassed and outplayed as you can see from the stats. Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come as we did so well against the top flight in the Cup last season (unbeaten). Think it could take a while to get to their level.​

Nice to know they don't expect too much. Still struggling to get loan signings through the door, so if I can consolidate this season and stay up it will be classed as a success. A few wins in the Europa League could bring in some much needed revenue too.​

A very good point to start the season off with. We more than held our own and got ourselves off to a decent start in the league.

Absolutely gutted to lose the match in stoppage time considering only two minutes had been added on. Again we shown we weren't pushovers given our new top flight status, but a defeat is what the records will show at the end of the day.

Schalke shown the gulf in class between the two clubs today. We were limited to set pieces and long shots and really need to work on a lot after seeing todays performance.

A real back to the wall job. They created 10 clear cut chances against me. Don't think I have ever expected anything like this before. To only lose by a goal is the only bright note.

Overall a hard start to the month. We've managed to show we can be competitive in the first two matches but when it comes to playing the sides further up the league there is a real gap in the standards of our sides. Hopefully the next few weeks will steer us in a better direction.

Player of the Month

Christopher Schindler - Despite all the losses I have to hand it to the centre back this month. Thanks to loan signings last season Schindler was inadvertently frozen out thanks to top performances. But he has vowed to stay and fight for his place and this month shown that he is deserved of having a place in that starting eleven.​

An easy start to our season with a 5-0 win over a low league opposition in the cup. I put out youngsters and fringe players to get their match fitness and they duly delivered.

Not the best way to start the season but not the end of the world. I'm fairly confident that when our fitness levels are back to the standard I expect we will perform better.

A very difficult match to take a loss with. We deserved so much better from this but just leaked the goals from a sub par defensive performance.

A very tough match, but we finally got our first win of the season over a decent Hamburg side. A last minute winner from a substitute made it all the sweeter.

I expected a hard start to the month and I got one, but I'm glad we got our first victory on the board. Daniel Frahn has started every match but hasn't found his goal scoring boots yet but I'm positive he will come good soon.

Zsolt Kalmar - Player of the Month
Our Hungarian youngster has really stepped up his performances this season. Last season he rarely got a look in thanks to Dominik Kaiser. But Kalmar has recently taken advantage of Kaiser's lack of fitness to put himself in contention for the first team squad, getting called up for his country in the process.

We managed to pull in Milik on loan on the last day of the season. Given our financial restrctions we can't really buy any players, but our trouble is now we're top flight and in Europe everyone wants wage and monthly contributions. Milik will get some good game time with all the fixtures we will play this season and I hope he can do the job.​

We looked so bright and sharp going one nil up, but we just can't hold a lead at the minute. We played really well but have nothing to show for it. The defeat is a shame, but the performance gave us a glimmer of hope.

Another match where we have played so well but just failed to get over the line and get the win we deserved. It wasn't a loss but it could have really set us up for a good run in the Europa League Group Stage.

The first half an hour we just weren't in the game until some superb skill by Rodri got us into the game and we soon took the lead. Wolfsburg responded well and seemingly put us back in our place before Hamoudi got his first ever goal for the club and earned us a much needed point.

Going 1-0 down early on really put the dampers on the match. It didn't seem like we were going to get back into it until a bit of individual skill from Rodri ended with a rocket into the top corner. As we were happy to settle for the draw we were awarded a corner and Schindler rose the highest to seal the victory. Our first win in the league.

A good performance results in a defeat.. seems to be a recurring theme at the minute. We played well, it's just our incapabilities at the back that let us down.

Not the worst month in the world. Granted two defeats, two draws and a solitary victory is all we could muster but the performance of the squad is beginning to get even more encouraging and I believe it will only be a matter of time before it begins to come together for us and we start to get the victories we deserve.

Rodri - Rodri has been quality for us this month. Four goals in five games, he has earned this spot this month. If the team follow his lead performance wise we'll soon start to rise up that table.​

A brilliant match which eventually had the right outcome. Going 1-0 down, then 2-1 down I thought it was going to be one of those days but the resilience of my team was excellent. A massive 5-2 victory has helped us out a treat in the league.

Bayern Munich are on a different planet. We simply had no answer to them. A result we need to move on from quickly.

Wow! Did not expect this at 3-0 down, but getting back to win 4-3 is amazing. A great way to put the Bayern Munich result behind us.

Extremely happy with how we ended the month. Coming from three nil down, being newly promoted and conceding seven goals in the previous game.. we couldn't have asked for a better response. Two win from three and we're looking like we belong in the league now. Roll on next month.

Daniel Frahn - Player of the Month
He's baaaaccckkk! I knew he would come good eventually. Our captain leading by example, three games four goals and one assist, Frahn has been the catalyst in our revival this month. If he can remain as consistent as he was last season we won't have to worry about relegation.

We knew this match was going to be a struggle, but at least it wasn't a result like the Bayern match. Dortmund deserved their victory and we'll be looking to bounce back in our next match.

And bounce back we did. With both strikers injured, attacking midfielder Sabitzer stepped into the striker role and performed there as if it was natural for him. A great individual performance.

Another victory and we're really starting to take it to the opposition like we did last season in the lower division. A clean sheet has done wonders for confidence.

Out of the cup, but only lost by the solitary goal to Dortmund. We played well but it just wasn't happening for us. Being out of the cup however, allows us to concentrate solely on the league.

Another great month with our only defeats coming at the hands of Dortmund. Climbing the table and seeing the emergence of Sabitzer has been a pleasure to witness. I just hope Poulsen and Frahn regain fitness as soon as possible.

A great win to start off the the month with a last minute goal away from home. A last minute Daniel Adlung free kick from 30 yards sealed the victory and gave us three points we desperately need.

Going into this match we were expecting to be walked over. But we kept that local derby spirit alive and actually had a goal disallowed in the final seconds. We played brilliant in front of a packed capacity crowd and the fans are ecstatic with the result.

We finally got the win in the Europa League to give us a chance of qualifying for the knockout stage. The money after the group stage will benefit the club brilliantly.

After being competitive against Bayern I was hoping we could do the same against Dortmund but no such luck. We mustered a few chances but couldn't really get going.

A great month if you consider our start to the season. Two victories in the league, a draw with Bayern Munich and one defeat to Dortmund. You can't get much better for a newly promoted side. We picked up our first victory in the Europa League too and we're beginning to play some nice football.
