Bargain of the round is undoubtedly Maier for £0.2m. Probably the greatest German 'keeper of all time and an incredible bargain picked up by Nixon. Also, Tigana and Beardsley for £6m are great deals, as well as Figueroa for £8.1m. The latter is reguarded by many as the best South American centre back ever.​

No overbids at all that round as the purse strings begin to tighten.​
