Not much to say about this pre-season, I stupidly left my assistant in charge and hopefully the morale of his poor control won't effect my season but the positive is tactical fluidity is improved and when it comes to competitive football we are a different team
What a start to the season as even when down to 10 men we teach Arsenal and the rest of the league that we are serious about this division and our capabilities
I didn't expect much from this game and Chelsea could have won by 5 or 6 but damage limitation is the only positive to be taken
We progress with a routine victory in the cup against a Brentford side without the same level of class
So close to snatching something this game but a late Jovetic goal gives City the win they deserved in truth but we look like we could be a real force at home this year
These are the games we need to win if we want to stay up but since it is away from home a point is acceptable
So close. To go to the Britannia and get so close to 3 points if not for our own mistake gives us great confidence going forward
Considering Watford last year were up there with us in the table its good to get one over on them, next round we have Newcastle away
This is what the fans pay for. A comfortable 4-1 win over a team that in reality we should be beating but the important thing is we did and we picked up the points
It seems late goals could cost us this year, this is another game we were so closed to claiming 3 points from but we drop them late on
Sam comes up big in a very equally fought game and proves to be worth the money this early on
What a game! End to end stuff and although our defence was leaky Denis comes up big and with a quality hat trick wins us the game
Two hat tricks in a row for Denis as he helps us come from behind to win at St James' Park and progress through to the last 8 where we have an away tie with Arsenal
With our form against the top teams being relatively good I expected something out of this game but we didn't get anything but that is no big issue
An end to end game we should have won but in the end we were lucky to get a point from a late Tony Watt goal
That's more like it, a 3-1 win against a team containing Cristian Benteke, keeping him quite isn't easy I'll tell you that
UNBELIEVABLE. To go to Old Trafford and come away with something isn't easy but to do it on your return to the top flight is just the icing on the cake
A good 1-0 routine win to end the month over a Cardiff side flying high like ourselves
Wow! Silverware looks possible this year as we progress to the last 4 where we will face Chelsea at the Bridge
This is what I like to see. A comfortable win against a good Swansea side leaves us brimming with confidence
I'm not going to lie after our start this result disappoints me
So close to getting something from this game but Daniel and Liverpool's class wins them the game out of nothing
Back to winning ways as we scrape through this game to claim a priceless 3 points
Ouch! It's safe to say I'm not happy to walk away from a 10 man Sunderland team with nothing to show for it
Only one addition to the squad this winter as speedy winger Nathan Dyer joins from Swansea. He is the type of player who can run straight past opposition full backs but he is a team player and makes things so much better for the team
Considerably more transfer activity on the way out of the club with the wage bill being cut down and players who don't see any game time now get the chance to earn some and stake a claim in my squad for next year. Mackie also leaves after failing to feature in my plans this year for a reasonable fee
This will be a new years day to forget as we loose in a game that could have been 5 or 6
A good win at Elland Road as we dominate the same and win easily when down to 10 men
We have one foot in the final as Tony Watt gives us an away goal to take home and see the game through
This time against City we stop them scoring a last minute goal and steal a point against the most expensively assembled team in Premier League history
Our second game against Chelsea this season as we come from behind to win 2-1 giving us huge confidence going into the semi final
We've done it! We progress past Chelsea and into the final were we face Liverpool on our first ever trip to the new Wembley
This game was far too tight for my liking and it took a piece of individual brilliance from Denis to win us the game
A convincing victory as Nathan opens his account as we destroy a team we used to struggle against just 12 months ago
A comfortable win against Hull to pick up a priceless 3 points
We come back from behind at St Mary's to get another 3 points
Tony's missed penalty proved costly as another draw against Stoke means we drop 2 points
An easy enough game that could have seen us score 5 or 6 but we are through that's the important thing
YES! This is a big day, we have claimed our first trophy on the path to revival and it is all down to the hard work of Ramon Cunill today who has found starts hard to come by but he today shown he is the man for the big occasion
A comfortable win against a struggling Everton side sat at the foot of the table
We pick up a point against one of the best squads in the league
Dyer picks up a 5 week injury but the three points make up for the loss of him
We missed the pace of Dyer on the ring and it shows as we pick up our first defeat since New Years Day
We should have won this game but we earned a replay and if we win that we pay Southampton in the semi final at Wembley
United haven't been at there usual best this month and we manage to prove we aren't pushovers as we claim a simple three points as they loose there rag and pick up 5 yellows
Tony comes up big in the important game again and now puts is in the Semi's against Southampton
We struggled to break down Villa and we come away with only 1 point
Cardiff teach us a lesson and Whittingham's striking of a ball proves deadly
A confident win that the scoreline doesn't suggest but we claim an important 3 points
Tony scores a last minute goal at Wembley to book our place in the final against Spurs
A comfortable 4-0 win on the back of a cup game which kept confidence sky high
We break down the meanest defence in the league twice away from home to help our chances of a top four spot
A huge 4-1 win puts our champions league fate in our own hands, if we win against Sunderland on the final day the 4th spot is ours
This game could make even the most confident of atheists believe the footballing God's exist because they were definitely against us today, I hope this doesn't make our confidence drop going into the biggest game of our league season
GET IN THERE! We have Champions League football at the City Ground again! We deserve it but Marcelo's last minute injury will leave him out for 9 months, it could really harm his career
Well there is the proof, we claimed 4th place and it was more comfortable than first thought as our own real challengers Tottenham lost on the final day of the season
We needed an injection of quality and depth to the squad and we got that with a mixture of experience and youth. Shaw and Butorac are ones to watch but the versatility of Drage and the experience and ability of Mulumbu and Ayew can take the club to the next level
A lot of dead wood leaves the club to help balance the books but no one who was on the brink of the first team left apart from Abdoun who was replaced for the cheaper and arguably better and more versatile Drage so all in all I'm happy with my dealings this summer
I gave my assistant the chance to redeem himself and it is both a judgement of his improvement and the squad itself as we go through a pre season in impressive form apart from a blip against Brighton we won all of our games with confidence and fitness sky high going into the busiest season yet
Despite a late surge from two of our young players we fail to overcome last seasons title winners
GET IN THERE! We have one foot in the group stages despite the toughest draw imaginable but we can't underestimate the Juventus comeback
Not the way I envisaged it to go but we come away from Vicarage road empty handed and I made sure the lads knew this was unacceptable
We played with our backs against the wall with the hope of holding on to our lead and thanks to the linesman disallowing a last minute Llorente equaliser we progress to the CL group stages where we will face Real Madrid, Shaktar and PAOK
Our performance still wasn't convincing enough for my liking but we are through to the CL group stages which was the main aim for this month
