Agreed, Ronaldo never seems to turn up to these matches. As El Classico's go, this was very poor. Messi should have been walking in the first half and if he did, can see the game going completely the other way.

Once again Messi proves he is superior to Ronaldo

Both of them had a bad game... When Messi is able to score as much as Ronaldo per season tell me. Or when he goes to another league and does as good as he does with Xavi and Iniesta. Messi would be murdered in the Bundesliga or EPL, he is **** in his national team, because he doesn't have anyone good enough to pass the ball to him , and he faces defenders that will tackle him no matter what, in Spain if you touch Messi you get an instant yellow card.

messi was decent tonight got an assist made his passes, not sure why you are so desperate to rubbish him by talking about bundesliga epl etc, completely irrelevant to the match

Ronaldo was **** today, 3 costly opportunites blown

Sound's a bit bitter to me. Agreed he is no so prolific for Argentina and would maybe have a harder time in another, more physical country but in no way is he **** as you would say.

Well, i do think in his national team he is really bad, as he does pretty much nothing... So tell me how can he be better then Ronaldo if the only place where he plays good football is in Spain with Barcelona.. CR was Manchester United best player when he was there, he is RM best player atm, he is our national team best player, he always gives his maximum in every game no matter if it's for the club or country.. what i want to say is, if you put messi in EPL or Bundesliga he would get injured after 1 game, as no one really cares if they can or cannot give him some rough tackles, and they'd probably be legal...

Ronaldo could and should have put the game to bed, they had an excellent platform to go and win the game.

Why must everything be a ridiculous argument between ronaldo and messi, people desperate to rubbish each player with arguments that dont hold any weight at all

But what does that have to do with him outshining a very poor Ronaldo tonight? Nothing. I do however feel he should have been sent off during the first half which would have probably changed the course of the game but hay.

Yup, its irrelevant to tonight. Messi should have been sent off, but Ronaldo blew the game.

What i dont get is why people say that messi outshined ronaldo today. Would you raver a player who fouls and gets or deserves a red card or someone who misses a couple of sitters. In other words , woul you prefer 10 men or missed shots

he did outshine him though. Ronaldo could have put the game to bed before messi was sent off. he blew it. Messi should have been sent off. he wasnt.

Now everyone will hold off on the 'Ronaldo should be the Ballon D'Or winner' for the next year. I don't think he should be not just for his failure in the big games in Spain but because of the fact that Messi wins Champions League titles with his goals along with league titles while Ronaldo wins Youtube viewers and Pichichi's.

My personal opinion is Ronaldo's development has gone downhill since he left Manchester United, plenty of reasons for this in my opinion from Pellegrini's central striker experiment to being told to shoot from anywhere within 50 yards. I still think he's a fantastic player but if he was still at Manchester United I feel he would be far better placed in his career.

I was willing Madrid and Mourinho to win tonight which really they should have done. The Madrid defenders got the 3x3 right angle offside marking spot on for the majority of the game. You can't account tactically for Messi getting a bit of luck and breaking through your midfield with a mazy run, he did that and set through Sanchez to finish brilliantly. But Madrid defenders were goal side on that goal it was just a sublime finish.

Compare this Clasico to last seasons and there is plenty of positives for Madrid, the pressure system worked for large spells and they had Barcelona in a corner. It was the perfect result for a neutral, Madrid 3 points clear January 1st makes for a more exciting La Liga season than Madrid 9 points clear come January 1st.

Interesting to note that Puyol's injury that has harboured him for the past year is almost identical to the persistent knee injury Torres suffered. I thought Puyol struggled tonight, still the leader just without quite the same amount of defensive qualities.

I actually don't think Messi should have been sent off, I think it was a final warning offence and his foot placement in the tackle was firmly on the ground and aimed to catch the ball not the player. There was far worse tackles in that game than that one in my opinion, far worse.

On your last note Jamie. Ramos got a booking for a two footed tackle that would have seen him sent off here.

Their system worked very well, just undone by a dismal game from Ronaldo, and a freak second goal

Regarding this, Ramos loses his cool far too easily, could've been off. Not the first time I see these sort of reactions from him, he could prove to be more of a liability than an asset.

I agree with you.. Messi never left Barça, and that's why he has the upper hand on Ronaldo... I hope Mou and CR, both go to Man United in a near future, because both of them just can't compete against Barça.

lol. Messi was good today; he was probably lucky to stay on the pitch, but that's another matter. Whatever league Messi would own everybody, there's no doubt about it - with or without Xavi and Iniesta. In the Argentina NT he plays a totally different role, but he stills plays well for them.

he always gives his maximum in every game no matter if it's for the club or country.. what i want to say is, if you put messi in EPL or Bundesliga he would get injured after 1 game, as no one really cares if they can or cannot give him some rough tackles, and they'd probably be legal...

Does Ronaldo give his maximum every game? I don't think so. Today he definitely didn't; he was lazy and greedy. Real were doing a lot of pressing, but Ronaldo was just strolling around allowing Barça to keep control of possession. And several times he could have played a teammate in, but no, Ronaldo can't pass it and allow a teammate to score an easy goal. As for that last point - you obviously don't watch much of Messi; every game he's constantly being hacked down, and I would say that they are rough tackles - just as rough as they would be in Bundesliga or PL.

You obviously don't wathc much of Messi with his NT or Barça, so you may want to watch these video. One shows how he doesn't rely on Xavi and Iniesta, and the other shows some of the amazing passes he plays for Argentina (where he plays more of an Iniesta role). One last thing - if Messi is so bad and relies on Xavi and Iniesta, then surely you could go and play with them and get 30+ goals a season...

Messi has the upper hand because Ronaldo hasnt expanded his own game. What Ronaldo can do has no bearing on the fact that Messi has stayed at Barca. Ronaldo has to take responsibility for the player he wants to be. He didnt have to leave United remember, he was the one who wanted to go

Videos? Please i can show you 100 videos from Ronaldo.. Videos only show the good things. Don't be pathetic.

Exact same challenge in the friendly against England
