In all fairness to Ronaldo, whenever Real Madrid have played Barcelona since he's been there the majority of the Madrid team have gone missing.

Even if the rest of the team goes missing, the so called 'best player on the planet' should be able to grab a game by the scruff of the neck.

But Pele only played in Brazil, (USA for a season I remember rightly), that doesn't mean he is any less of a player because he stayed in 1 place for the majority of his career. So he only Carried Santos by himself, Brazil had sackfuls of World class players.

No difference imo.

Brazil had sackfuls of world class players, but Pele was captain/playmaker/goalscorer and the best in the world. Without a doubt. He was in America for 2 years and won them everything in those 2 years. The fact he scored over 1000 goals in his professional career is a feat in itself, and something nobody will ever come close to again. That's why he's the best ever.

Absoloute bollocks.

Manchester United won the Premiership and the Champions League with Ronaldo on song.

Ronaldo won it all single handedly. He scored 42 goals in the season, Our second top goalscorer was Rooney with 14. Then Tevez with 13. He won it alone.

Ronaldo is the best player on the planet but no one is good enough to single handedly beat Barcelona's current team.

Bit difficult when you're up against the best team in the World. Messi doesn't have that problem because he plays for the best team in the world. Although I remember him playing vs Chelsea and doing jack ****.

How can you state one player won you 2 trophies? Messi netted god knows how many last season, yet nobody said he won the title for Barcelona. Team effort.

As I've stated already...

Barcelona are the best TEAM in the World.
Ronaldo is the best PLAYER in the World.

Messi is the best player in the team.

Messi would be the best player in any TEAM as he is the best PLAYER in the world.

Anyway, people know my opinion on this. There's a thread for it as well.

I'm not arguing about this ******* topic anymore.

We have kindy took this thread miles off topic :S haha!

Yeah, we sorta spammed this thread.

Sorry Stu (A)

My opinion has been made, and reasons given. I won't speak of this topic any more unless PM'd or VM'd :)

For people saying he should 'prove himself in England'... why?

Surely he should carry on winning things with Barcelona, rather than get 'kudos' from silly fans who think the EPL is the be all and end all of the world.

For the record, I think Xavi > ****

Ronaldo is better in my opinion because he is more complete. Ronaldo has carried every team he's played for and scores 25+ goals a season no matter what.

I don't think the same can be said for Messi. You could put Ronaldo in any team and he'd score 20 goals a season by himself. He creates his own chances as well as other people's chances.

Messi is a team player, but if you put him at a lesser team he wouldn't be as effective as the players around him wouldn't be as good. He needs the players around him to do what they do for him to be effective. In my opinion he wouldn't score 25+ goals a season without the players around him doing what they do and being the best in the world at what they do.

Until Lionel Messi comes to the Premier League and carries a team like Ronaldo did, I will always say that Ronaldo is better than Messi.

Both are out of this world, but Ronaldo a bit more so imo.

Ronaldo has never been in a lesser team and scored 20+ goals a season. The reason Ronaldo carried United because the team was put in place for him flourish. Barcelona don't do the same for Messi as Villa and Pedro chip in a bit more than Manchester United players did but I'm sure if they did built the team completely around Messi like Manchester United did with Ronaldo, he'd score even more goals.

Are you actually being serious?

I didn't want to continue the spam fest but Ronaldo has Kaka, Di Maria, Higuian, Xabi Alonso, Mezut Ozil. All top class players around him.

^^WHS

EPL is over-rated, and I don't think that many of the best in the world(Milito, Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Cassilas, Buffon, Messi etc) would have what it takes to make it. And the amount of players that have left successful careers in England to venture abroad have suffered(Owen, Mascherano etc)/

People need to stop being so delusional in thinking the premiership is the best league in the world for a start.
There's a reason some of the most technically gifted players play in La Liga, and that's because (for me anyway) it's the best in the world.

and DMF, have you actually not watched Barcelona? There's been plenty of games where Messi has single handedly won it for them? & Surely, the best players should be playing in the best teams? which Messi is, so why should he leave?

As Alex said, some of the best players ever never played in England, doesn't make them any less of a player in our eyes. I bet if you were to ask the older generation, they'd agree. Most older people i know think Messi far outshines Ronaldo.

This is a Liga BBVA thread not a fooking Messi/Ronaldo thread get it together
