Liverpool FC: The 5 Year Plan

Amazing story so far Brendn. For a moment I thought you might have been heading for an early exit but the way you've turned things around is genuinely incredible. A massive season coming up now though.

Cheers mate. You're not the only one who thought I'#d be facing the sack. I remember seriously being worried that this story might be over so soon :P

Transfers Outgoing

View attachment 215376

Simon Mignolet: £10M upfront.

With the Arrival of Victor Valdés, Mingolet was unneeded and on too much wages.

Joe Allen: £10M upfront
He's a midfielder but quite frankly, not good enough to be a first team regular and
thus is holding up the progress of your youth players. I sold him to include Rossiter
more in first team affairs.

Dejan Lovren: £20M upfront
Decent Center Back but again, I felt he was holding up the progress of some of my
younger Center Backs. With Ilori and Wisdom back at the club, I'll be looking to bed
them into the side and I feel they're better suited to my side than Lovren.

Mario Balotelli: £20M upfront. £8M over 24 months.
Never was goign to feature in my first team plans. We've already got Benteke and Origi
who I feel will offer more going forward than Balotelli. Pleased to get £28M for him.

Jordan Henderson.
This departure was not planned but Arsenal accepted a renegotiated fee of £40M + £12M in clauses.

Transfer Incoming

View attachment 215374

Victor Valdés: £1.5M
With our return to the Champions League, I felt we needed a world class goalkeeper and after his
inspiring loan spell, £1.5M is a steal for a keeper who's got 3-4 years left in him. This will give us
enough time to find our next long-term goalkeeping target.

Ryan Bertrand: £2.7
The Southampton left back was transfer listed by request after their relegation. I wanted extra
cover for Moreno and an additional option alongside Enrique as I'll be moving Moreno forward to
as an advanced Left wing player more this season.

Thiago: £45M
Our Landmark signing this season to help transfer the side into the type of team I want to play
my aggressive, creative style of football. Bought in as a direct replacement for Henderson.
He'll also offer an additional creative option in a midfield including Coutinho, Ferminho and
Lallana. With Bender, Lucas and Rossiter offering Defensive options in Midfield, I'm trying
to address the balance of the squad.

Youth Signings

Quite a number of exceptional youth prospects came through at Premier and Championship Clubs so I
snapped them up to develop them, hopefully, into premier league quality players. English players are
always a commodity in this league so if they don't make the grade, they'll be a great source of profit.

Tony Lynch: £350K

View attachment 215371View attachment 215370I think this kid's got all the attributes to be a decent striker int he future. We didn't spent
that much on his so there's little pressure on him to deliver.

Russell Leach: £425K

View attachment 215369View attachment 215368This kid is just a solid left back. Great attributes for his age and I'll be looking
forward to his development.

Mike O'Connor: £650K

Stamina, Workrate technique and flair... at 15. You'd be a fool to ignore this kid.
I think we could quite a good player for the future on our hands here.
Marvin Williams: £675K

View attachment 215365View attachment 215364
This kids already got great attributes for a winger so I'll be training his creative side
to offer more to his game. I can see him being an England international if he learns
from Firminho and Coutinho and develops a skillful flair to his game.

Ryan Knapper: £3.5M

View attachment 215363View attachment 215362
This kid cost us a lot of money. £3.5M for a 15 year old might seem crazy but I truly feel he'll
be our long term replacement for Alberto Moreno. He's already got a solid set of attributes and he can only get better with the potential he's got.

That is a really tough draw, I'm sure you can qualify though, even top the group!

The 2016/17 season starts off with a bang. A ceremonial opener to the European season
as well as the North-West Derby; one the fans care more than any else. The 5 year plan
is in phase 2.

When Sturridge missed that penalty in the 3rd minute, I genuinely feared for the worse.
Suarez giving Barcelona the lead stung considering he used to be a Liverpool star but
new club captain, Adam Lallana put us back int he contest in the second half. And if
that wasn't enough drama, 4 minutes into injury time, Sturridge cemented his status as
a Liverpool Icon by winning the Super cup with the last kick of the game.

This result was devastating. I definitely left that we didn't deserve to loose this game.
Sturridge came off in the second half with an injury but he's not been hitting his shots
on target. It's still early int he season so no cause for concern yet but it's something
I'll have to keep an eye on.

My deadline day signings were, if I do say so myself, a great piece of business! :)

Toon Meynedonckx (Mendy): £1.4M

This kid!!!! He's going to be something special. Anyone who's followed my stories knows
I like to invest in a young striker who's got lots of pace. This kid could be one of the best
regens I've ever signed... in any FM. Look at those physicals and mentals!!!

Borja Valero: £3.7M

This signing can only be described as a coup! £3.7M for an immediate 1st team started.

Great story as always mate. Some very good business over the summer too, can see you challenging for the title

Talk about the title is probably too soon until February. I'm happy with my signings though. I went for quality in key areas and I'm confident we'll secure a top 4 finish. If we're around the top at Christmas, I'll see about a title challenge :)

you had a huge transfer budget and you only got 1 marquee transfer.

What's your point?

I think he's trying to say you should have got more 'marquee' players. I disagree, build for the future is what Liverpool is about, as an avid LFC fan, we are about the youngsters. :)

You know, I just wanted to make sure he's not just moaning about someone not doing what he expected; on a fictional story about a game... Maybe he had a valid point :P

Aye, building for the future has always been where I get most of my FM enjoyment out of. I love having a squad of 23-25 year olds come 4-5 seasons into the game.

Wow so many updates in such little time, first of all some very nice transfers. I must admit when I read that you sold Henderson I was a little bit disappointed as I feel he could become the next "Gerrard" for Liverpool but getting Thiago in to replace him is an excellent piece of business. Great result with the victory over Barcelona aswell, it may not be the most coveted price in the world of football but it's still a nice one to get. Also got a decent start to the season the loss against United is a tough one to take but judging from the stats it could have gone either way so no real reason for concern.

Aye, I'm actually a really big fan of Hendo in real life and It wasn't an easy decision to sell him but I wasn't sure I'd ever get another offer like that fro him again. It's hard to say no to £50M+

Thiago is a player I've always admired and I love aggressive passing based teams so he's perfect for the kind of side I want to build :)

My thoughts exactly. And it's another trophy to put in the cabinet and a medal for the players. Each win matters in the long run and it gave us a great pre-season moral boost :)

It was a tough one since the game could have gone either way. I hate loosing derbys by slim margins. At least with a 4-0 thumping you can say "we were never in it", but to loose on a coin toss.... it hurts! :P
