At the end of last season I tried to renegotiate his contract to avoid this exact situation.
£50M is a lot of money but Coutinho is worth more than that to us. Unfortunately we failed
to reach an agreement and I can only hope the same thing happens with Dortmund.

Haha, It did annoy me but I'd never been in an All-Stars game so I was more excited than annoyed

We got lucky here. They couldn't agree on a suitable wage. Coutinho expressed that he's ready
to return to contract negotiations with me but there is one major problem int he contract talks...
He's refusing to budge on a release clause. £49.5M is a fee I'm very uncomfortable with since it's
a lot less than he's worth to us. All I can really do his tie him down to a 5 year contract with high
wages to make it very hard for buying clubs to match or improve. Though I think I'll have to look
for a long term replacement since I cant trust him not to sign a deal if them meet his clause...

With the injury to Mendy, I needed another Striker only having two at the club; Sturridge and Origi.
He wasn't getting games at City despite a £34.5M move in 2016. He'll be looking to revive his career
so I'm getting a hungry poacher to bolster my attacking options.

With Skrtle and Gomez making a solid partnership at the back and Sakho's inconsistent form
last year, I decided to offload him to allow Wisdom so get more game time. £17M is a decent fee
for a player who'd not be a first choice Defender in my set up.

I change them every 2-3 weeks depending on who's in form and who's not playing well. I'm always tweaking and playing with shapes to get the best out of whoever's playing well at the time.

I decided to offload Sakho since he could never quite get back to his best following his injury last
year. With Skrtel and Gomez cementing their first choice CB pair, I felt Sakho's wages made him
too expensive to be a rotational player. This allows me to integrate Wisdom into he squad
and add another English player to my season roster.

Sturridge has started the season in scoring form but our creative midfield players
need to be doing more. They're not penetrative enough so I'll be looking to fix
that in the upcoming games.
