Two months of competitive football left as there is only one match in May I'll include it into the April update and then if we head to the playoffs that'll be a separate update. But lets focus on the here and now. With us crashing out both cup competitions last month we have only league football to focus on now and would face six of our eleven remaining league games this month and with us just focusing on this football we could have a superb chance of earning promotion if we could keep this form up.

k5R5sBk.png

Six matches in the league in March, five wins and one defeat, a superb run for us once again. A nine goal thriller saw us narrowly beat Luton five four. A game which could of gone either way with us seeing five different scorers. Our only defeat this month came at home, losing three nil against Coventry. Four wins on the bounce followed but not a single clean sheet. We beat Portsmouth at home three two, Smith, Allen and McInnes netting. A trip to MK Dons saw us win two one, coming back form one down at the break, Tighe and Samuel on target for us. We beat Colchester at home, three one as Whiteman, Tighe and O'Loughlin netted. And O'Looughlin continued his fine season with a hatrick against Fleetwood, he even missed a spot kick.

KPvkRQo.png

Forty one league games played now, just five games to go and we're back on top of the pile now. We sit just two points ahead of Boton in second place who are occupying the second automatic promotion spot. With five games remaining we still don't have a playoff spot secured at a minimum as ten points separate the top eight teams in the league.

Here we go then, the final month of the league season and just five league games were left to play. We had four of those games in April and one at the start of May so it'll all be included in just the one update. Going into April we we were just two points clear of second place Bolton and still had to play them in April. Could we go on and earn that surprise promotion and our first ever back to back promotion. Initially I just wanted to survive here in the Sky Bet league one but going into the final month I really wanted to earn promotion and the title would be nice as well.

7B26pa4.png

Five league games, three wins and two defeats, but would it prove to be enough. It started with a five goal game against Plymouth, which could of gone either way but goals from Borukov, O'Loughlin and Grivosti was enough to secure us a three two win. A trip to Wycombe went poor for us, losing three nil. At home we welcomed second place Bolton and beat them two nil, Smith and O'Loughlin on target, a huge win for us. But we couldn't nail our form, losing two one against Crewe, Wilkin with our goal. Finally finishing the month with a game in May, beating Walsall two nil as Borukov and Smith netted our last two league goals, but how would it end up.

Champions! Back to back promotions! Its been a sensational season as we are crowned champions of the Sky Bet League One in our first ever season in the division, creating a new club high league position of 1st in the Sky bet League One. Amazingly Bolton fell away and even went on to miss out on promotion. Amazingly Lincoln are also heading to the Championship, they were in the Vanarama National League at the start of this career. And another big surprise, Mansfield, who won promotion via the playoffs last year, have won promotion via the playoffs again and will join us in the Championship.

TLt1jIt.png

End of season awards and news to round up the season which has been amazing for us. Allen was named player of the year for the division, hes been brilliant this year for us in midfield and fully deserved it. O'Loughlin has also been another standout player for us this year. I was also named manager of the month with a fifty six percent win ratio, I thought I was going to win it with the league title being secured and surprising everyone. And lastly the board have really backed us next season, giving us a transfer budget of over two milion pounds as well as almost doubling our current wage budget.

OMG I thought you'd spend 2 seasons in league 1, 2 in championship hen premier, but you've smashed this season!

Amazingly Lincoln? Best team in the world mate ;) Seriously though, very nicely done this season!

What a season!!! Well done mate.
Only one step away now mate.
Hopefully we will get to see some youth from the London city academy soon.
Finances doing well?

I wasn't expecting it either neavie pops23 we smashed it indeed!

By that I meant I was surprised they started in the VNN and are now heading up to the Championship Godfish93

Thanks Stuartsays

It proved to be a brilliant season for us Tracz we are indeed now just one step away from the top tier! Finances had boosted to about £2million in the black however we've spent it this summer on upgrades and transfers.

A short summer to prepare for Championship football, it still feels strange that we're now heading into our first ever season in the second tier of English football, just one step away from the big boys in the biggest league in the world. But I'm expecting it to take three to five seasons for us to make the top flight. Anyway, a run down on any news that I feel is important that come out the summer as well as any transfers whilst spending some money at last and then a squad report along with friendly results.

zcKubKc.png

I've signed another long term deal here at London City FC. This has extended my stay at the club now to June 2031 at the earliest as its a two year extension on my already lengthy deal. I've also demanded a bigger wage deal, taking one thousand eight hundred pounds home per week. The scouting range has been upgraded as well, we can now scout players all across Europe. I've also seen the youth facilities and youth funding increased, I forgot that screenshot.

T5HiLDo.png

Well a busy summer indeed, we've actually sold a player!! We signed McInnes last summer from Mansfield, he cost us just £35k back this time last year. We've sold him on this summer for a big profit, seeing him go to Motherwell for £750k. This allowed us a bit more room in the transfer market and has seen me bring in no less than six new players all on permanent deals as well. Benkassou will be our new midfielder to replace the outgoing McInnes.

0i28usm.png

Now we're beginning to sign 'better quality' players I feel its only fair to show you the player stats that join the club each transfer window. Per Olsen should be our new number one, the Danish keeper is a touch up from our previous goalkeepers at the club. Then I've strengthened every position, with a variety of 'quality' players joining the club this season hopefully helping us stay up this summer.

PsYb103.png

I feel I've strengthened the squad well this summer, bringing in better players in each person and this now sees us have a strong first eleven at least. However our squad is a little thin on the ground this year, especially compared to how packed we've been over the previous years. However this could see us keep players happier and hopefully they can improve whilst they're here.

KX7gILD.png

A very mixed summer on the pitch, I'm just hoping its the squad taking time to gel. Surviving this season will be very hard, I thought there were some big teams in League One last season, there are huge teams in the Championship with us. We'll need to beat the teams around the bottom end this year and nick the odd point here and there against the bigger sides if we are to survive.

Here we go then, another 'first ever' as it is our first ever season in the Sky Bet Championship, meaning at the end of the season we will record another new best finish, just hope we can do it outside the relegation zone. This season will be one of the hardest we've faced to date but suvivial is our aim. Seven games to kick off the season.

CRPzcAF.png

A lot of red dots on the board but I guess its to be expected this season. We narrowly lost our opening game in the Championship against Bristol City, we went one up through an own goal before falling two one down. The host had a man sent off, we pressed but couldn't find an equaliser. A trip to Ebbsfleet in the EFL Cup First Round saw us progress with a one nil win. And then came our first ever Championship win, a two one victory over Cardiff as Oliveira and Borukov both netted our goals. A run of red dots came though, narrowly losing out at home to Blackburn one nil before early league leaders Crystal Palace beat us four nil Premier League side Everton knocked us out the EFL Cup in the Second Round as they beat us three one at Goodison Park, Oliveira with out only goal. Then Hull beat us two one to end the month, Oliveira gave us the lead.

bwaCPwA.png

We're down in twenty third after the opening month of Sky Bet Championship action. Five games into the league season we've picked up three points so far and sit second bottom of the league and only Rotherham have started the season worse than us with two points from their opening five games, it could will be a very long season indeed.

After seeing so many red dots in August I was hoping we could move into September and push on a bit, maybe build a few orange and green ones into our results list. We were out the EFL Cup so could focus solely on league football at this stage. Once again we have six games this month all in the league, could we start to build some points up.

VHCh09u.png

Well, a couple more wins this season but still more defeats slipping in, they're narrow league defeats though. We began the month very well with a two one win over Middlesbrough, for once racing into the lead, two nil through Smith and Borukov before conceding second half. Three defeats followed, a heavy home defeat against Huddersfield saw us lose four two. Two away games saw us lose one nil to Leeds and Bournemouth. We beat Lincoln at home one nil, through Oliveira, a much needed win over them before losing two nil at home against Millwall.

7xdeJKB.png

Twenty second in the league, nine points on the board after eleven games, I thought I had strengthened the side well this summer, but clearly not well enough. We're embroiled into this relegation battle and will be for the whole season I feel. We need to make sure we're picking the points up against these teams around us in the league this season.

Next Update: London City FC - October 2028

Championship is always rough first season, especially after straight promotions. Confident you'll pull through though,

It sure is proving to be tough Godfish93 I expected it though after back to back promotions. Just hope we have what it takes, you're more confident than I am at this stage!

Into October in what will be our most difficult season as a founded football club for sure. We're struggling to get going here, struggling to get points and that in turn is seeing us struggle to fight relegation. However we're not bottom, yet, and I hope we can keep fighting all the way this season and show some of that spirit we had for back to back promotions. A quiet October now due to the league suspending fixtures for International matches, we played just four games.

Tjw7TSY.png

Well, that looks a little better, but its just the one win this month and one defeat as we picked up back to back draws to kick off the month. A goalless draw against Fulham at home was a well earned point before we traveled to Derby and drew two all, Borukov and O'Loughlin netted each time we went a goal behind. We lost heavily to promotion chasing Mansfield, they're looking for a third straight promotion before shocking second place Doncaster and winning four two. Johnston, O'Loughlin, Smith and Oliveira netting our goals.

BOTxNUN.png

Well, we have climbed a little bit that month and just as well as both Cardiff and Sheffield United move on to double figures as well as Preston. A big month down the bottom end of the table and the four of us are now separated by just four points. There is also only a three point gap to eighteenth place Norwich, we need to keep a reasonable gap behind these teams just ahead of us if we don't improve form it could be close come the end of the season.

Next Update: London City FC - November 2028

Always new this would be the most difficult season but sure you can work your magic and steer them to safety, lets be honest survival this year would be a huge achievement in itself!

Just finished catching up again - looks like it's going really well. Congrats on the promotion to the Championship, lets hope you can keep them but up but I think it will be a tough ask.

Indeed this year was always going to be difficult neavie pops23 we'll do whatever we can to survive, thats the main objective.

Thanks for catching up again naterr thank you, its been good the past couple of seasons but surviving this year is going to be hard.

The penultimate month of 2028 is here and we're still fighting this season. If we go down at the end of the season it'll be kicking and screaming thats for sure. The club could do without going down however unless we pull out a couple of strong results, we could see ourselves facing that drop. Just three games awaited us in November, a couple wins from those and things would look a little more rosey for us thats for sure.

cOoTxb7.png

Two more defeats but one more victory on the board for us. Our only home game of the month saw us well beaten by Brentford, they ran out three nil winners come full time. A trip to fellow strugglers Ipswich saw us win two one. Smith gave us the lead before half time. Ipswich struck one back but we held strong and Borukov fired us to an important three points. Finally we blew the lead twice against Barnsley, Oliveira netting both goals to put us ahead but we succumbed to a three two defeat.

hgXCAuE.png

We're twenty first, still fighting for our lives and survival this year as we're approaching the half way stage of the season. Good news is the win has brought the table closer now with three points separating us from twentieth place Ipswich whilst five points separate us from sixteenth place Middlesbrough. We have a big month next month, playing Preston and Sheffield United.

**The main reason I've come back to the careers section is because I'm undergoing an ACL (knee) operation Friday, will be off work and sat around doing nothing for the next 2 or 3 weeks, so will be smashing through the seasons.

Well its been just over four weeks since my operation and about five weeks since starting this career. All that time off has amassed into over 12 enjoyable seasons here at London City FC. The story is obviously going to continue, however the updates may be at a slightly lesser rate, I still want to aim for a season or two completed a week. Thank you everyone for reading and commenting over the time of this career to date. You're helping motivation and helping the career become what it is.

Another year is coming to a close as we head into the festive month of December, a bit of snow on the ground but hopefully the players and heated up ready to continue this fierce fight we're in trying to avoid relegation. A busier month than we've had of late as we face seven league games and some big six pointers as we face a lot of teams around us this month.

XkAfgp3.png

A home game to kick the month off, a six pointer against Preston which we narrowly saw out and took all three points thanks to another Oliveira brace, hes really proving to be a big signing for us this season. We then traveled to fellow strugglers Sheffield United, beating them two nil for our first back to back wins this season, Ali and Benkassou netting. Three defeats followed losing heavily five one away at Norwich, three one at home to QPR and two one at home against Rotherham. Remaining at home we picked up a more than creditable draw against promotion chasing Bristol City after Smith gave us the lead. The month ended sensationally as we jumped Cardiff with a superb six two victory. Oliveira netted a brace within five minutes, Smith also had a brace as there was also a single goal for both O'Loughlin and Benkassou.

k0OW0op.png

We're out the dropzone! I doubt it'll last too long, we had an 'easier' month on paper this month as we faced so many teams around us and luckily we came up with some strong results. We're currently up in twentieth place, still only two points off the drop zone though which is occupied by Cardiff, Ipswich and in my eyes the relegation bound Sheffield United who just can't kickstart their season. Lincoln are up in sixteenth following their promotion last season and Mansfield are in thirteenth, both doing better than us at this stage.

Next Update: London City FC - January 2029

Best of luck back in the office, hope it's not too tough for you!

Glad to hear you'll be keeping this up, and pleased to see you've been smashing it the last few seasons.

Glad the recovery from the op has gone well mate.

A good month fixture wise, all you can do is beat those around you and hope for "bonus" points from other games.

Im not to glad the ops gone well, could have done with you off for a couple more weeks to smash out the seasons LOL. On a serious note im glad your all good.

Anyways looks like its gonna be a bit of a slog in the Championship but im sure you'll be fine mate.

I wonder what them fans that didnt think you was right for the job are doing now? lol

Thanks Tom26 it wasn't too bad indeed. Plenty of season to go.

Thanks Neavie pops23 indeed we just need to beat the teams around us and we'll survive this season.

Haha thanks banger93 don't worry there will still be loads of updates being fired out for you to keep up with. Hopefully those doubters are now believers!

Here we go, into the New Year once again as we head into January with us fighting against relegation this season. Its a close battle but we're going to continue all the way to the end. The FA Cup begins this season for us as we enter the third round of the competition whilst we also faced four league games over January, could we kick the calendar year off on the right foot.

Qe8k2Ht.png

Another month that started very brightly and then slowly filtered out by the end. A trip to Blackburn saw us start with a win, Shaw netted eleven minutes after the break to secure a one nil win. We then welcomed League One side Sunderland in the FA Cup Third Round with O'Loughlin netting along with a brace from Borukov securing a three two victory. Three more home games followed on the bounce, losing two of those as Crystal Palace beat us two nil and Middlesbrough beat us one nil We drew with fellow Championship side Bristol City, coming back from two down to draw two all in the FA Cup Fourth Round, a replay is on the cards. We ended the month on another sour note, losing two nil against Hull.

9PHRhR6.png

Still outside the relegation zone but only by the skins of our teeth. We sit above Ipswich, not even on goal difference but on goals scored. The drop zone is tight, bar Sheffield United who seem all but down this season. Above us is just as tight with only five points separating us from Leeds United in fourteenth place. A good month could really see us move forward in our survival fight.

Into the second month of the year and we're starting to press ourselves on this league, well, maybe not, we're starting to be pressed by this league, especially down this bottom end of the table. We had an FA Cup Fourth Round replay to play if we could go through, we could face a trip to Premier League side West Ham. Five more league games awaited us, a couple wins would set us right off.

2kd8T6U.png

Not quite an FA Cup run like last year where we reached the Fifth Round, but it allows us to focus our last couples months on league football alone. Not that that was much better this month. A defeat on the road against Huddersfield saw us lose out two nil. Bristol City beat us in the FA Cup Fourth Round Replay, two one after Kigbu bought us back level at one all. Our only win this month dragged Leeds United into the relegation battle as we beat them two one. Ali and Allen netting our goals either side of Leeds equaliser. Lincoln narrowly beat us one nil away from home before Millwall beat us two one, our goal coming late in injury time. But we ended the month with a more than well earned point against high flying Bournemouth. Oliveira netted twice for us to seal a point in the two all draw.

cq8Fe9d.png

Another four points on the board, we're still twenty first and seeing the season go by. We've got twelve league games left now this season and still in and out of that drop zone each month. I feel our highest league finish this season is going to be twentieth realistically as the gap then opens up higher to Doncaster in nineteenth. Its tough for us to beat the drop, but with a couple months to go, we'll fight till the end!
