A very poor start to the season with a massive winless run after the board decided to accept offers for some of my best players. Managed to get the results to survive in the second half of the season but it was less than ideal. Next season I will hopefully be looking for promotion to the promised land.

Great season in League 2 clinching third successive promotion. Despite financial troubles managed to cling on and get promoted, sadly just missing out on the title (even after beating Wrexham 6-0 at their place!). Bring on League 1!

Well what a season the best yet of my Vauxhall career as we stormed to promotion only Leicester could stay with us. I have to say i was concerned about the defence and to be honest we were poor at the back but the forwards managed to ensure we out scored our opponents in most games (the humiliation at Huddersfield aside!)

Ready for the Prem the board have spent £6m on expanding the ground so at the moment we have no money, but the Prem TV rights should sort that. Also we will be ground-sharing with Liverpool until it's completed!

Great, my post got nuked by the forums. Looks like I'll be going into a little less detail this time. Two things: 1) I had one free transfer that almost made my season for me by himself and 2) in my first year in the EPL I discovered my ceiling was at 7th place:

Team: Eastleigh
Season: 2016/17
League: Premier League
Final Position: 7th
Cups: Carling Cup 4th Round (L 0-2 @ Liverpool), FA Cup 6th Round (Lost 0-4 vs Tottenham), Europa Cup Quarterfinals (L 3-7 on aggregate to FC Bayern).
Average Attendance: 13246 (max capacity 9.3k, spent half of season in Southampton with 19k average)
Biggest Win: 5-0 @ Norwich
Biggest Defeat: 0-4 v Tottenham
Top Goalscorer: 33 Daniel Sturridge (22 league)
Most Assists: 18 Daniel Sturridge (12 league)
Highest Average Rating: 7.41 Daniel Sturridge (7.43 league)
Fans Player of the Year: Daniel Sturridge

So as some of my top performers from prior seasons began to wane (especially Nouha Dicko, who scored tons of goals for me in L1 and Championship and Oliver Nicholas, who has been a fixture in my back line since the BSS and is still 3.5 stars), other new arrivals began to step up. Daniel Sturridge, a free transfer from Chelsea, single handedly transformed my offense. He was a human highlight reel throughout the season, and his speed and creativity brought out the best in my front line. He also had what I would call the goal of the season, putting in a fantastic effort to beat two defenders and the goalkeeper to secure a tie on the road against his old team in extra time:

In my honest opinion, Sturridge got robbed for not winning English POY (which went to Rooney, who had an incredibly subpar season). Sturridge wasn't even in the top 3.

And while the Chelsea game happened to be one of the most exciting games of the season for me, featuring four goals in the last ten minutes to make it a 2-2 tie, the actual Game of the Season for me, if I had to choose one, would be a spirited comeback win against Everton:

Eastleigh v Everton Video Highlights

Craig Conway, a Cardiff castoff, also solidified the AML position for me as a free transfer. I continue to find good regens who I hope to develop into star players, and I feel like I have some long term solutions at both fullback positions now. But by far the biggest revelation was Alban Tafaj. I adjusted by formation just to put him at AMC and he delivered in a big way despite only being 19.

View attachment 216691

For a cool 1.2 million he turned out to be a true bargain.

My team also did very well in the Europa Cup. Obviously making it to the quarterfinals is a big deal, but I got a slightly easier draw in the two knockout rounds. The biggest achievement is taking 18 points in my group, which included AZ and Dinamo Kiev -- teams I expect to see in the Champions Cup:

Overall a successful season. I'm hoping to parlay my 30 million in the bank into a new, larger stadium soon, but I don't think that will be on the cards this year (I am getting an expansion that should bring it close to 11k seats at least). I need to shore up my defense after some lapses late in the season, but I'll be happy to take another mid table finish next year and then look to building my squad to take on the top of the league closer to the end of the decade.

Here are some significant screengrabs from the season that was:

View attachment 217081

Notice I kind of leveled out in positions. That's more attributed to constantly being 10 points below 6th place throughout the 2nd half of the season. But notice I am one of two teams below 6th place that had a positive goal differential. That means we have some fight, which is great.

View attachment 216686View attachment 216687View attachment 216690

Other awards and accolades, plus showing that I am dead last in wages spent in the EPL. I'm all about signing players young, developing them myself, and not overspending in the transfer market if I do not have to. I ended up having 13 million left over in my transfer budget and spending approx 100k under my wage budget.

Update:looks like I enter the new season with some expectations. A 30 million transfer budget, a 400k/week salary budget are useful, but they come attached with a minimum expectation of a top half finish and a media prediction of 11th place. I hope I can satisfy the board, because I'm not breaking the bank to overhaul my roster this season.

Linvoy Primus takes Havant & Waterlooville into the BSP at first time of asking....

Hi All,

I've joined the FM Base community today, so that I can have a go at this challenge. I've looked through previous posts, and I don't see anyone taking over the mighty Hawks, so I thought I'd give it a go as I grew up nearby, and who could forget their heroic FA Cup 3rd Round tie at Anfield a few years back!

I like to assume the name of an ex-player for games like this, and so I thought I'd work under the alias of legendary Portsmouth Centre Back Linvoy Primus seen as H&W are a feeder club for Pompey on the game. However, I did set my experience to automatic as stated in the rules though.

So all in all a very satisfying first season. The trio of Pablo Counago, Omar Koroma & Stephen Stirling making mincemeat of the BSS defences as we finished with 122 goals scored. Honourable mention to Wes Fogden at AMR who picked up the BSS Player of the Season Award.

On to pre-season, and my task is to trim the wage budget, get rid of some of the deadwood in the squad, and renew contracts with my star performers. I will also be looking for some fresh faces ahead of the assault on the BSP, and I'm quietly confident of back-to-back promotions if I can pick up some of the players released by the grander clubs this summer.

Struggled to sign any championship quality players. Board increasing stadium capacity by 2000 so another season of consolidation I think.

I had, luckly, a poker of promotions, I am currently in Npower Championship, i kind preffer to settle for a couple of years, improve all sections of my club and then get to EPL no to just go down again...
View attachment 217223

Also, i have improved once my training facilities, about to finish the youth facilities too, and by the end of the season i will have my own new stadium, which i am still paying from (Bank loan 4.5 Million).

** Knocking Man United off their fn' perch **

Here is my progress report for those interested how im going hehe

Unfortunatly Man U themselves have been a thorn in my side, but their squad is now aging and have shown signs of not being unbeatable, ive been on a mission to poach their promising youngsters, who now fortunatly dont mind coming to vauxhall |), all my facilities are top notch except for my youth recruitment network which has stalled at well established .

Cool, I will take part in this challenge. I'm (still?) **** at this game, but I have high hopes for my Woking side, having signed Couñago, Koroma and Stirling and the start is looking promising with 3 wins & 1 loss in the first games. I somehow have a hard time keeping a clean sheet though atm, any suggestions?

I've also just started a game on my other computer with Gloucester, by the look of things that's gonna be a struggle though...no players or budget to speak of...
