Champions League Group Table End

So we drew our last game of the group stages against second place Dortmund but it was still an impressive unbeaten Group stage and we got a very favourable draw in the Knockout stages.

A pretty decent draw against Benfica with the tie of the round surely Chelsea V Bayern Munich its always nice to know a big team will definitely be getting knocked out early on.

Oh we had a bad month in our busiest period of the year as we draw 4 out of 8 matches this month but at least we didnt lose any of the games.
We went from having to come from 2 down to draw with Newcastle to grabbing an early goal against Everton before conceding a late equalizer thanks to transfer target Ross Barkley.
The Dortmund draw had me a little down as i was really hoping for a perfect 6 in the group stage but we did manage 3 wins on the trot after this result with Kagawa and grumpy Rooney on form for us.
Cleverly scored two early goals against Swansea and i thought a 4th win on the trot was all sown up but a late Bony brace with only 10 minutes to go saw us succumb to another draw.
We ended the month scraping a win over West Ham with Van Persie scoring a very early goal before we had to cling onto the victory for the rest of the match.

6 points clear of second place Chelsea with a game in hand and we also have a massive goal difference over all of the other teams.

Well i think this shows how amazing we have been so far this season! I dont think i have ever seen anyone else win this Award bar Messi in the first season but to push him down into 3rd place with Mata coming top and Kagawa getting second place.

Struggling at the moment, Everyone wants crazy money and i get offered pittance for my players, Ashley Young is valued at ?12Million but no one will even offer ?6Million for him at the moment,

Even for some younger starlets? Or you looking to sign players that people tend not to sign! Still gutted about your Argyle save, though makes me tempted to see if I can beat you and look to get them into Europe!! Lol.

Got one coming in but not been given any budget after big spending in the summer so its either sell or dont buy
 
Loving how this is coming out with MU at the top (where they belong :) ). I know how you feel about Young, never seems to get sold or when he does, never accepts the contract

Winter Transfer Window

Players Out

Well i wasnt given any extra money to spend in the winter window so it was all about trying to move on squad players who are moaning about lack of game time who i can get some money for.
The likes of Vidic,Evra and Giggs are not playing much and but are hardly worth selling for pittance so the big one i looked to sell was Rooney whos value seemed to drop in a matter of a few weeks.
So the big deal i was hoping to do in November when Rooney was complaining a lot was a straight swap with Barcelona for Gerard Pique, All of our side of the deal was sorted but Rooney went and turned down the ****** contract.

By the end of the window i offered Dortmund Rooney and RVP for Sebastian Rode and they turned it down! I was offering Rooney out at ?14Million and nobody wanted him whilst Van Persie did leave for Barcelona for just over ?12Million as i just started to get really ****** off with trying to sell these players.
Anywhose Nani moved on for ?10Million and Ashley Young for just ?5Million and we had to pay up a big part of their contracts to get rid of them.

Well in the end i brought in two young players who were needed to strengthen the side in key areas.

I signed Gauld just to shut up my scouts as every report they gave me was sign Gauld, He was awesome for me at Dundee United for 10 plus years, I will be interested to see if he manages to make it at this level though but he should get some game time with Young and Nani leaving.

Alessandro Florenzi - ?16.25Million

Florenzi looks an awesome player and was in the At Madrid side we had on the pass the parcel save, i can see him pushing for a first team place straight away with our central midfielders consisting of Cleverly, Carrick, Giggs and Fellaini the current weak link of our team.

So we started the New Year with a bad loss to Arsenal before letting the reserves have a game against Huddersfield with Danny Welbeck on form and young striker James Wilson getting a goal too.
We managed to comfortably beat Tottenham 5-2 on aggregate to win the Capital One Cup Semi Final ties and make the Final next month.
We had Kagawa to thank for a draw against Aston Villa after his early goal Premier League Top Goalscorer Benteke grabbed a brace before Kagawa's late equalizer.
We then thrashed Fulham with Welbeck getting another brace after coming off the bench as we show we wont miss RVP.
The second string then went on to beat Brighton in the FA Cup with Welbeck and Wilson on fine form again before ending the month with a league win over Sunderland with Danny Welbeck getting his sixth goal of the month.

Currently 6 points clear at the top with our goal difference twice as good as our nearest rivals Chelsea with a surprising top 4 completed by Tottenham and Newcastle with Local rivals Man City all the way down in 12th?!?

Mata still tops the assists charts whilst Kagawa has moved into the top 5 for the Golden Boot with Costa in second but their both miles away from Benteke still. Most of Costa's goals have come in the cup competition as Costa has 26 goals in all with only 13 in the league.​
 
Young was amazing for me in my save surprisingly & I kept him lol, I managed to punt RVP off to Barca for 25mil aswell at the end of season 1! but this was on the default DB before the update.

I have had that with Valencia being awesome for me on the save rather than Young but RVP's value just seemed to go down each day, i was getting offered less than ?10million by most of the clubs interested by the end. Barca wouldnt even accept Tello in exchange for RVP thats how far he had gone down in their estimation

He did have a great season and again it was in the default database which I think is easier to sell/buy than update.

A good start to the month with an impressive victory over Liverpool with Costa grabbing an early brace and Kagawa getting the third.
Im not sure what happened in the next game but Cardiff came out of nowhere and destroyed us! They must have had some super tactic as they had all the possession and chances whilst we clung on to dear life.
We settled the ship after the big loss with 3 straight wins 2 in the league and a Cup win against Fulham so were still in all 4 Competitions.
Mata got the early goal in Portugal before Benfica turned the game on its head with striker Oscar Cardozo scoring his 32nd and 33rd goals of the season before Rooney grabbed a late equalizer to put the tie in our favour.

Only 3 points clear with 11 games to go but the league is certaintly just a two horse race now between us and Chelsea with 3rd placed Tottenham 11 points behind us.
Next month will be the defining month in my career so far with the Capital One Cup Final, FA Cup Quarter Final, Champions league and the big two league games agasint Tottenham and Chelsea all crammed into one month.

A dominant win in an evenly matched contest as despite having as many chances on target as us and the same possession we destroyed Newcastle in the Final with Januzaj in fine form and we scored all but one of our goals before they had a man sent off.

So in the middle of March we faced Benfica in the return leg of the Champions League 1st Knockout rnd and we had man of the moment Kagawa to thank for the victory and progression into the Quarter Final were we will face Arsenal in an all English tie.

Phew that was a massive month, Im getting really back into FM now after watching through all of the Man Utd games as at one point on a couple of saves i did get a bit addicted to the Instant Result button.
7 wins from 8 games across 4 different competitions is not bad going as we stretch the squad thin and manage to stay on course for the Illustrious Quadruple and the rotation has also helped with not picking up any injuries to key players something i am prone to.
So after the big Cup Win we beat Cardiff to make it through to the FA Cup Semi Final were we will face Championship side Nottm Forest before going on to beat Hull in the league.
We lost the big Manchester Derby due to resting players for the must win Champions League game against Benfica but City are only fighting for mid table obscurity so it wasnt too much of a blow.
So besides from beating West Brom comfortably in the league we picked up the huge wins against 2nd and 3rd placed Chelsea and Tottenham to strengthen our grip on the top of the table.

So despite losing to fierce local rivals Man City were now an impressive 9 points clear with only 6 games to go whilst they are down in 11th place but have recently sacked Pellegrini and brought in Diego Simeone.

So Costa has 6 games to beat Benteke to the Golden Boot but i dont see that happening he has though reached 35 goals overall for us this season.​

April/May 2014 - Champions League

Champions League Quarter Final

So in the domestic Quarter Final we managed to comfortably beat Arsenal 3-0 on aggregate with Diego Costa grabbing the only goal in the home leg and then Kagawa and Costa got the early goals to secure the tie in the second leg at the Emirates.

All matches at this stage are tough but i would have proffered to get CSKA Moscow in the Semi Final draw instead of favourites Barcelona.

A couple of early goals puts the tie in our favour before Messi gets one back, but we end the match on a high note with Rooney getting an important 3rd goal.

2nd Leg V Barcelona - Away

Costa had absolute mare of a game and then once i brought Rooney on he was terrible too as we just couldnt find the target and get knocked out of the Champions League and end our hopes of the famous Quadruple in the first season.

Barcelona went on to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in the Final with Messi scoring a brace and then going on to win all of the awards.
