I'm surprised I haven't posted on this thread.

Can't be bothered naming all of the bands I listen to but I listen to everything except the -core bullshit and glam/heavy metal. As far as fave bands go then I'd have to say Amon Amarth, Kalmah, Wintersun, Watain, Insomnium, Nile, Opeth, Drudkh  and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Glad to see there are some metalheads in here :)

I pretty much listen to bit of every kind of metal genres.

I always have hard time putting together a list of favorite bands but some of those are Suffocation, Napalm Death, Sleep, Lair of the Minotaurs, Zao, Trouble, The Human Abstract, and many more.

bump, this thread dissapered from the music section, a NEW albums I recommend

Flotsam & Jetsam - the cold (2010) - Flotsam & Jetsam best known as the band Jason Newstead was at before he joined Metallica.
Well they are more than and have been a great Thrash metal band over the last 20+ years in their own right
The Cold is their latest album and its fantastic, it sounds like the band have been together a long time and everything clicks musically. Lyrics are very dumb throughout but adds to the albums charm

In This Moment - Starcrossed Wasteland (2010) - You need to hear this album just to hear Maria Scream, god dam her screams are on the bar with Akerfledt. Also she can sing clean vocals and blend them into a nice mix. The band can play.

Im pretty conservative with my music, 90% of it being black metal and all bands are from Norway and from the early 90s

Burzum (The best)
Mayhem
Emperor (Gods)
Immortal
Dimmu Borgir
old Darkthrone

Black metal... hmm... did u ever heard serbian black metal ? ok here it goes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcB7UJ1v7H4
News.. SOAD is back again... 15.7.2011 IN BERLIN !!! must see!!

Like I said im conservative (and narrow minded forgot to mention that) with my music, the only BM bands ive listened to have been from Norway, Sweden, Russia and one from France, this doesnt sound too bad though, when I look for eastern European music I generally look for symphonic stuff but might give black metal from there a look

Tbh I only listen to two Mayhem albums lol, Emperor I absolutely love, same with Burzum as you can tell by my user name, Dimmu im sort of ashamed to like because of the direction they have stepped in, becoming commercial and so on but they are still great, got the new album, have to say I prefer the old stuff.

I'm listening to some Emperor now on you tube, I picked a few random vidoes, "Empty" was very good the song terrified me, in a really good way I liked it.
Listeing to Inno A Satana now

Yeah Empty is good, listen to I Am the Black Wizards, considered to be one of the best BM songs and you can hear why

the song does not do much for me, on first listen anyway, but with Black Metal not being my any of favoured Metal Genres I will more than likely have different opinions on Black metal compared to someone who is familiar with the genre.

I'm still digging and finding songs in Black Metal as I still love metal, ALL of it still has the things any metal head can love.
A true metal head can find bands and songs they love in ALL of the many many metal sub genres

Haha everyone in black metal has an opinion on the music and what way it should be moving, theres people that want to move forward with it and improve the music style whereas then there are those that want everything to be the same as it was in Norway 1990-1994 (Like me :) )

ooh a metal thread :)

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HpCPF-_ZlY"]YouTube - InHollow - "Tales Of How We Bleed" OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO[/ame] - my band :)

other stuff i really dig - iron maiden, circle of contempt, adept, sonic syndicate, plagues, chronographs, monuments, and a lot more! theres a lot of really good technical stuff around now, pushing musical boundaries, its excellent :D

Most overrated metal band ever - Avenged Sevenfold! I just don't see why people like them so much!? Devildriver are the boys! Speeeeeed metal : P

Check out this band anyone who likes, Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, Rock N Roll or any good kick *** music.
This band are awesome, and their albums are free to download from Mininova legally.

The Band are called Hospital of Death

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=32614253626

On the facebook page is the link to download their first 2 albums.

I would someone to listen and see if they agree that this band should have had more exposure, and are way better than some bands that have made it big the last 10 years, unfortunately the band is in exile for a undetermined amount of time.

Check em out you wont be dissapointed

Currently cranked up the 50 watt Marshall to roundabout 11 and got my Dean ML out and annoying the **** out of my neighbours while playing Seek and Destroy, Master of Puppets, Die Dead Enough, Madhouse and other thrash classics.

I find Overkill's vocals too high pitched, but I still like Exodus! Brought up to waste mankind! Also massive fan of Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, Kreator, 80's Metallica etc.

As far as death metal goes, I've seen quite a few live, Satyricon, Mayhem and Immortal, and they don't really impress me. Regardless, as a Norwegian I feel obliged to like them, and I do enjoy some of their stuff for the hilarity. Watch out for Immortal's Call of the Wintermoon and the wizard's hat and ministry of silly walks!

Also, I've been camping with one of the original Norwegian Black Metal dudes, and he has got quite a few amusing stories, e.g. Frost from Satyricon complaining about the cold at a bus stop in January:p

As for modern "metal," I think a lot of it is purely guitars tuned down to F, stupendous amounts of effects and some br00tal growling that sounds like a really large **** being pressed out. However, I like Evile and Bonded by Blood.

Anyone like Municipal Waste?
