Serie A - Matchday 8: Milan vs Parma

Milan 5-1 Parma
San Siro

View attachment 276721

A.C Milan is in good form of late with WDWWL currentley sitting at the 4th spot in the Serie A. Parma on the other hand holds a DWDDD record. Parma will certainly look to try and add another draw to their season resume. History shows the last 5 matches going WLLWW in the favor of A.C Milan. Overall Milan wins more often than draws and loses occur in this matchup.

Antonio Mirante was back between the goalpost for Parma. He had to show up big as Milan from kickoff took complete control of the match initiating a slug fest in search of the lead. Mattia Destro showed his excellent markmanship finding the net not once but twice before the break. With that the game looks set to become a another 3 points for the Rossoneri.

Second half starts off quiet before action happened when Parma winger Silvestre Varela got setup by substitute Ishak Belfodil. Sadly instead of getting a close nail biter to the end. Destro grabbed his hat-trick and right after fan favorite Stephen El Shaarawy made the score 4-1. Nigel de Jong however got the last big applause after putting to bed a goal galore with his 5-1 goal. Safe to say Parma had their problems and got outplayed during the entire game. But good news is returning goalie Mirante showed a great display showing his injury did nothing to slow down his abilities.

Man of the Match: Mattia Destro, A.C Milan

Serie A - Matchday 9: Parma vs Juventus

Parma 1-2 Juventus

Juventus is the current superpower of the Serie A. Their last 5 matches went DWWDW, and unsurprisingly Juventus sits at the top of the table. Parma on the other hand holds a WDDDL not impressive but rather good for a team of Parma stature. Historically Juventus goes home with half of the matches as wins. With the other 50% spilt even in draws and wins for Parma. The odds are overwhelmingly in the favor of visitors Juventus.

Juventus did as expected controlling the possession and pace of the game. But people had their hopes of for an upset after Parma went up 1-0 after 25 minutes of play. Pedro Mendes filling in for an injured Angelo Ogbonna found the net after a Francesco Lodi free-kick got denied by the woodwork. Despite missing our key defender things looked good, and even better after Arturo Vidal managed to pick up his second yellow after just 31 minutes of play. The lead would stand valid to the break.

But in the second half as many times before Juventus finally found the net with on form Carlos Tevez putting away a header. Unfortunately the Gialloblu never managed to find their confidence back with the defense growing displeased. But credits to young Mendes that filled in good for Ogbonna, but the others struggled. The man of the game Tevez would at the 78th minute put away the game. Despite trying to find a goal the only valid effort was denied by Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon. A game that Parma had a tiny potential to collec t a point. But all in all a decent showing from Parma that on another day might have managed to wheel in a 1-1 draw. But the worst news is the injury Silvestre Varela picked up a pulled hamstring during the game. Head Phyiso of Parma: Roberto Delsignore predicts a sideline time of 4 weeks.

Man of the Match: Carlos Tevez, Juventus

This is going to an important month for Parma F.C. Not only has there been to long since a victory for the Gialloblu. But the truth is the opposition for the up and coming month is all teams we will be fighting in league placements. The bad news is that 3 out of the 4 games are away games. I would be surprised if not all games are wide open with possible goal galore's, boring draws and intense nail biters.

Last time I did this update I spoke of how lucky we were with just minor injury issues so far. Well our luck has run out. Silvestre Varela looks set to miss the entire November month. While first team regular Angelo Ogbonna will more than likely partake heavily in the coming matches. Other than that most of these players are bench warmers anyways. But Massimo Gobbi and Daniele Galloppa does offer god competition to the starters.

Serie A - Matchday 10: Udinese vs Parma

Udinese 2-1 Parma

View attachment 276446

Udinese is on a losing streak with their last 5 matches ending with WLLLL, and to make matters worse Panagiotis Kone and Cyril Thèrèau both will miss the game due to injuries. On the other hand Parma is also missing key players because of injuries with both Silvestre Varela and Angelo Ogbonna ruled out. On top of that steady performer Antonio Nocerino is out due to suspension. Parma also isn't really doing any better with their track record being DDDLL on their last 5. Historically Parma has a slight tendency of taking all 3 points. But the media still favors Udinese to take the full point pool.

Oh wow. This was not a good game for Parma F.C at all. From the start of the game Udinese looks like their normal self showing they are a potenial challenger for European placements. Rodrigo Aguirre puts in 1-0 after a powerful header after a weak defensive job from Alessandro Lucarelli. After that the legend himself: Antonio Di Natale made it 2-0 right before the break. Antonio Mirante could be seen shouting at after Andrea Costa got fouled and let Di Natale past him for an easy 1on1 with Mirante. With this lead and solid hold on the game Parma looks demoralized.

Second half even tough better for Parma sadly doesn't carry into any fruits. Parma got more involved but struggled to be creative with tireless worker Allan disrupting the flow. But at least the team got something positive out of the game when experienced Italian winger Raffaele Palladino sends a powerful volley past the young Udinese phenom goalie Simone Scuffet. Another good thing was a good performance from Pedro Mendes who looks to add competition to the central defender positions. But there was an extra negative outside the result, but an injury to goalscorer Palladino estimated to last about 8-11 days.

Well lets not forget we have played some of the most prolific Italian teams lately. There are plenty of other teams we have more favorable chances against.

Thanks mate! If you keep reading I will keep'em coming.

Big attendance for the Udinese game!
haha good you told me. I was in a hurry to complete the post because I was needed to play in a 5-man CSGO stack :)

Serie A - Matchday 11: Cesena vs Parma

Cesena 1-2 Parma

Parma are in big need of a win to relight the hope that this season is not a battle to avoid relegation. With a rather depressing record of DDLLL Parma would want nothing more than to grab a win on their travel. Cesena on the other hand stands with DLLWD putting them on a more positive form curve. Bookies favor Cesena with 5-4 versus Parma odd of winning 7-4.

The game starts in a high tempo with 2 fast highs for both sides. Parma are the first ones to find the net with youngster Marcus Thuram sent a screamer into goal after Antonio Nocerino sent him free in the right side of the box. This just 2 minutes into the game! But the home team Cesena would equalize instant after a sneaky back heel assist from Gregoire Defrel to Franco Brienza who taped the ball in for 1-1. The game after that went into a hefty battle with teams alternating between good periods.

Second half kept up the intensity from the first half. But Parma started to take a hold on the match despite lesser ball possession. Parma simply managed to be more effective with the ball and their defense played at a high level with captain Alessandro Lucarelli taking home man of the match for his effort in the back. However it was Ishak Belfodil that scored the winner after being played free on his left side. Again its Nocerino who made the assist. All in all a victory of high importance for the Gialloblu. Lets hope this spurs the boys on to capture more points!

Serie A - Matchday 12: Parma vs Cagliari

Parma 2-1 Cagliari

Parma comes into the game with a DLLLW record and will look to use the home field advantage to get another victory under their belt. Cagliari comes into the game with the same overall record but in this order LDWLL something Parma could look to utilize. All in all bookies believe this to be an even matchup with a slight tendency towards a Parma win due to being at home and being strengthen by the return of Angelo Ogbonna and Raffaele Palladino.

Parma played a good game creating plenty of chances and was unlucky to not win with a clearer margin. Ishak Belfodil would be the man to find the first goal of the game. The young man knocked a cross from Palladino into the back of the net. Parma was clearly the best team in the first half, and would use their better play to go up 2-0 in the 38th minute. This from a powerful and smart free kick from midfielder Francesco Lodi.

After the break however the visitors Cagliari pulled themselves together starting to see more of the ball. But they struggled to do anything productive with the ball and as the minutes counted down they received plenty of yellow cards from tough challenges. In fact Cagliari got issued 6 yellow cards during the game. Parma looked like they had the game completely secured but a fumble from Antonio Mirante helped a shot go past him into goal in the 87th minute. Making fans biting nails until the referee blew the whistle. This means Parma takes their first back to back win this season!

Serie A - Matchday 13: Sassuolo vs Parma

Sassuolo 1-1 Parma
Mapei Stadium

View attachment 276052

Home team Sassuolo has had a rather up and down season so far. Parma on the other hand is having a quite enjoyable season so far compared to the original judgement from the media. Sassuolo comes into the game with a recent matches record of DLLWL. Parma on the other hand is on a improving form with LLLWW. Bookies however believe that Sassuolo is favored to collect the win with 6-4 in odds.

The game is rather boring in the beginning with both teams struggling to take command of the game. But after is rewarded with a free-kick Parma takes the lead in the 18th minute. It's free-kick taker Francesco Lodi that shots the ball straight into goal. Other than that first half really only has some yellow cards worthy of mentioning. Parma goes with the 1-0 lead into the break. A solid first half for the visiting team.

Second half however sees the home team Sassoulo go out with the goal of winning the game. But thinks becomes difficult when Italian defender Paolo Cannavaro gets his second yellow of the game. With this the hope for the 3rd victory in a row seems almost a given for the Gialloblu fans. Sadly the team let not only themselves down but the supporters to when Nicola Sansone put away a long trough ball in the 84th minute. This was a rather let down for Parma that should have been able to at least hold the game out for a 1-0 win. But credit to Sassuolo that showed brilliant fighting spirit. A good thing was the great performance from midfielder Lodi resulting in a Man of the Match award. On the other side a bad thing outside the result Raffaele Palladino picked up yet another injury due to a thigh strain. We will be without him for about 3 weeks luckily Silvestre Varela looks fit to return fully to the team.

A small schedule for the Italian teams as they do take Christmas breaks in the Serie A. Also there's only 1 national cup and it doesn't begin before January. But this fits us quite alright with a win over Atalanta being the minimal expectation considering they are struggling at 17th placement and we got home field as well. Genoa on the other hand are up on 9th place right above us. It will be a tough away match for sure.

Team of the Month - November

These players made the cut for Team of the Month in November. A very strong lineup with a nice mix from the top tier teams in Serie A with the bonus of talented Pauolo Dybala. However its Carlos Tevez that was the must include this month with 4 goals and ticking in at 7,55 rating in 4 matches.

A rather good injury table for us. Missing Palladino is a bit sad but we will make due. Honestly so far we should be happy no one have had a long term injury yet. Im happy with our injury list so far this season.

Parma is enjoying a building positive form with LLWWD in their last five matches. On top of that Parma will also be strengthened by the return of Silvestre Varela to the starting lineup. Atlanta on the other hand have had a rather disappointing season currently sitting at 19th place. With a recent form of DLDLL Atlanta are not looking to hot and they wont be helped with key man Alejandro Gomez ruled out by injury and Urby Emanuelson out due to suspension. However bookies seem uncomfortable judging this game giving all results 11-5 in odds but home team Parma the favorite stamp.

Well I'm going to be honest this was a huge let down of a game. Really just baffled that despite missing 2 key players and being on the travel Atlanta still outplayed us and honestly we where kind of lucky not losing more. But the most disappointing thing is that we started the match well with already giving us the lead with a class header inside the box. The rest of the first half stays clam.

But in the second half things flourishes and it's starts with Francesco Lodi putting away a penalty for 2-0! Now all of the sudden Atlanta goes on fire first equalizing. Then watching Angelo Ogbonna putting in 3-1 and the game looked set to be a win for the Gialloblu. But then German Denis and Maxi Moralez scores a goal each to draw the game before German Denis picks up the winner at 90+4th minute of the game! Now I was already frustrated with the team throwing away a 3-1 lead. Imagine my face and disbelief when we lost it on overtime! This feels like the classic FM moments when a under performing team despite missing key players still just destroys you in 1 half alone. Really I mean Atlanta scored 4 goals in 1 half on when we were at home. Just unbelievable.

Genoa is a strong team that also on good form lately with their last 5 matches going WWDWL. A bit stronger than Parma curve that currently stands stands at LWWDL. It's going to be a interesting game as Parma will feel hungry for revenge after fumbling away their last game away. If history was to repeat itself a draw is most likely with over 40% of the matches ending in a draw. Bookies for today's game gave a favorable 5-4 for a Genoa victory.

The game starts amazing and awful depending on which side you cheer for. Unfortunately for us and the Gialloblu it was Genoa that took the lead. Already after a minute of play on loan soldier M'Baye Niang scored 1-0 before scoring 2-0 in the 17th minute. His teammate Maxime Lestienne made it 3-0 and things were looking dark for Parma. But managed to find the light in the end of the tunnel when sent a screamer into goal! He was helped by McDonald Mariga.

Second half Parma started to stabilize but it took too long and Genoa still competed well. Niang finished his hat-trick in the 55th minute setting the score at 4-1. Shortly however Angelo Ogbonna still showed there was hope by reducing to 4-2 with a header. But Genoa would score again with left winger Zakarya Bergdich showing his skills. Parma would however get one more glimpse of hope when their on loan winger Silvestre Varela knocked in a cross from Mattia Cassani. A game where the defense was a complete letup, but credits to the Genoa attackers who were on fire today.

A packed month this time with 5 games in the Serie A and our first game in Coppa Italia this season. Inter, Lazio and Torino are opponents we can't expect to get anything out of. But on the other hand Verona and Palermo are 19th and 20th in the league right now. We really should beat these teams to get something out of the Serie A in January. The Coppa Italia game is in my eyes just completely open but admittedly i don't care much for it as the league is my focus.

Team of the Month - December
View attachment 275686

Not suprised to see Niang on that team of the month he was a beast. Both Juventus strikers makes the cut and no body is suprised Tevez is returing to the Team of the Month. Quite a strong team here with a mix of the elite players with the players that play in the closer challenging teams like Genoa who got 2 players. The highest performer on this team was Manuel Pasqual ticking in at 8,35 average rating for this month.

Several players returned from injuries during December and these guys are the ones left struggling. Well Santacroce is coming back after just 1 day so struggle is a bit far for him. Pedro Mendes however is a bit sad too see him out with an injury as he was challenging our central defender starters quite well.

It doesn't take a genius to figure that Lazio is a club on at least 2 levels above the current irritation of Parma. But we are still going to play a game of football maybe we can be helped by the fact the ball is round. Anyways for the facts Lazio comes into the game with WWWLL but its noteworthy that the loses are to A.C Milan and Juventus. Parma on the other hands stands with the weaker record WWDLL. Bookies seems to believe that Lazio morale is broken and Parma has a great opportunity to beat Lazio giving Parma the favor odds at 6-4 for win versus Lazio 13-8 however with the draw at 2-1.

Parma goes up into the lead after Lazio player Marco Paolo comes highest on a header but had no control of it. The Lazio hearts sinks as the ball goes past Marchetti and screams of joy comes from the Parma supporter corner! Unluckily Raffaele Palladino whom been struggling with injuries of late picks up another injury and is out of the game after just 25 minutes. To make things worse Winston Reid scores in the 35th minute and brings Lazio to the lead in the 39th minute. The lead stands to the break.

Lazio keep on playing rough sending both McDonald Margia and to the benches due to injuries. The game becomes so much harder then necessary for Parma and Lazio just looks to wheel in the 2-1 win. Parma comes very close once with a header from subsitute striker Massimo Coda but Marchetti denies it. Then to completely break the Gialloblu spirit own goal scorer Marco Paolo gets his revenge on overtime scoring 3-1 for Lazio. A sad day on work for Parma, and lets hope that the 3 injuries picked up aren't serious because Ishak Belfodil got injured during training before the game. This could mean our quality in selection options could be in trouble.

Verona comes into the game with WDLLL record. This record is shared by Parma meaning both teams have a lot to gain from a W today to maintain a W in their recent 5 match record. Verona finds themselves at 19th place in the league. Parma is sitting a bit safer at the 15th spot. Bookies have put a small button onto Verona to win it. Parma will certainly feel the loss of both Raffaele Palladino and Ishak Belfodil out because of injures. On top of that captain Alessandro Lucarelli is sitting out due to a suspension after picking up 4th yellow this season previous round versus Lazio.

The game starts out with both teams fighting for position and tempo. Parma starts to look like the better team on the pitch when collecting their first goal of the game. It's right winger Silvestre Varela that sneaks a shot in the longest corner after Vicente gives him the ball after Parma pressured with a corner. The same man puts in 2-0 after yet another Brazilian, hands him a goal on a silver plate. Parma with a great display goes into the break with a deserved 2-0 lead!

The second half goes back into a more uncertain period with Verona trying to fight their way back into the game. After some substitutes Parma re-energizes and when Vajebah Sakor gets fouled right outside the box. Parma Free-kick specialist Francesco Lodi steps up and puts yet another free-kick straight into goal 3-0! A brilliant game from the Gialloblu that takes a dominant 3-0 victory in a away game! Very happy with this and especially with the dominating display from our defense with Andrea Costa topping off at 8,5 rating an the lowest rating in the defense being goalie Antonio Mirante at 7,6.

Note: Picture was taken after the game

Im going to be honest I didn't care about this cup at all as this season the Serie A was my full focus. So I decided to let my assistant manager show his abilites by leading the team in the cup. Chievo is an alright opponent for us in the cup. The home advantage might play a big part in this game. With us is new loane Federico Bernardeschi loaned to help deal with injuries as Raffaele Palladino picked up a 2-3 months injury.

Well the game looked quite even and the scoreline defiantly tells the same. Parma took a early lead with Silvestre Varela continuing his recent good form. Then loan soldier Federico Mattiello would the tie game up with a great shot from his left flank going past Antonio Mirante. But another young loane wanted to show his skills off this was new Parma loane Federico Bernandeschi after linked him up. However Mattiello wasn't done and he would put in yet another goal to make it 2-2. This result would stand until the break.

Second half became a battle for possession and right to control the ball. Substitutes tried to help give the game a fresh contribution. Really not much happens that's worth writing about. Ezequiel Schelotto got a yellow after fouling . The same man Jôwould however later on score 3-1 after fighting in a cross from Massimo Gobbi. Federico Mattiello kept playing well and tried to spur his team on for the 3-3 goal but time wasn't with him and Chievo.

Home team Parma is currentley in a LLLWW form or DLLLW if you only count Serie A. Inter last 5 matches has gone better with LWDLW and are just a much more prolific team than Parma. Inter currently sits at 4th in Serie A, and have plenty of clubs breathing in their necks. Bookies more than reasonable made Inter the 4-5 favorite giving a 2-1 draw more likely than for Parma to upset Inter.

It won't surprise anyone that Inter goes out and takes the command. Parma looks like trying to adapt a more counter attacking style of game and leaving Inter doing the majority of set attacks. Antonio Nocerino gets injured in the 21st minute forcing Parma to put on youngster Vajebah Sakor. Shortly after things takes a turn for worse as Rodrigo Palacio puts Inter 1 up. No more goals is created in the first half meaning Parma is down 0-1 at half time.

After being yelled at in the team wardrobe the Parma boys looks motivated and in fact gets the equalizer early in the second half. It's on form man Silvestre Varela that volleys in the cross from the new loane Federico Bernardeschi. But Inter takes the lead again with Argentine Mauro Icardi sending a screamer past Antonio Mirante. Then to make this even worse for Parma Bernardeschi is injured just as the team have used all it subs. But to everyone's surprise substitute Cristobal Jorquera sets up Varela's second for the night 2-2! Then Varela gets injured and Parma have to play with 2 players less due to injuries. Somehow Parma manages to play the game out for a 2-2 draw! But it's still not a joyful day for manager HbG who sees 4 players leave the pitch due to full injuries and Mattia Cassani having to complete the game with a smaller injury.
