Mr Langvatn FM16 Tactic Center

I'm using the 442 Deep Sicilian Defence V5 at Sporting Lisbon and i have some feedback to give. Overall i like the tactic but i'm feeling that my strikers do not participate much on the attack. My WM are crossing to the opposite WM and are scoring more goals than the F9's... Which is sad because Slimani have 18 finishing and 19 header and only have 2 goals in the league xD

In this tactic, the strikers make a lot of space for the wide midfielders. Trust me, every single striker combination has been tested over a lot of matches. I am 100% certain that the best overall setup for the entire team is two false-nine's. But if you want your strikers to score more, there are some other combinations that also work, but then it will be lowering the overall quality of the tactic a bit.

Regarding strikers, they can also score around 1 goal per match as f9's, if they are good at that role. Also, remember that MR/ML positions are the MOST IMPORTANT positions in your team, invest heavily into these players, they will score most of the goals and have most of the assists. If they have poor crossing/passing, strikers will score a lot less.

wow Mr.L your tactic looks great, and I'm gonna try the "4-4-2 (Deep) Sicilian Defense" in a new save on Newcastle
But I got some questions, first is I know Newcastle have more AMR/AML rather than MR/ML, should I still put them in MR/MR even they are not very suitable to the position?
Second is do I need to find a right footed ML and left footed MR?
Last, I have a nice F9 Ayoze Perez, but my another good striker Aleksandar Mitrovic isn't any good F9, how can I place him or should I giveup on him?? Thanks!!!

Right footed MR is better than Left footed MR, and same for ML. But I don't know how big the difference is. It seems to work with almost every type of player also. I know Jesaustralia has successfully retrained strikers to be ML/MR, I prefer winger types with high crossing ability (and i set them to train finishing in addition to wide midfielder schedule). You should probably find a more allround type of player than Mitrovic for the F9 role. I think target men types are the weakest here (in my experience at least). Regarding AML/AMR, yes you would have to use them in ML/MR until they get good in those positions, because the tactic loses a ton of its quality if you change to AMR/AML in the formation.

But like I said, pretty much any type of player works for ML and MR. I've had success with retrained wingbacks, wingers, strikers, central mids, attacking mids. The important thing is that they should be very good players (main focus position for investment), and should have good acceleration, finishing and crossing as a minimum.

Also, remember to use version 5 of the tactic (link on the top of the front page).

In addition to the questions asked:

About False 9 - It will definitely not be a bad idea to retrain a CAM to add that special Vision thingy :) - who can finish - who have great off ball skills - and has some quickness in him - acceleration especially - his team mates feed him with balls from time to time that gives him one on one opportunities with the keeper - Also composure would be good for that same reason.

Wide midfielders - Though I have had success with retraining strikers - Lacazette is one of them he has 11 crossing :(- I however don't recommend it to much - You want the players to be A) the best crossers you have ever seen and B) right footed in the right side and left footed in the left side. Finishing should be 10+ - Someone like A.Zivkovic does a good job on the left midfield position - his finishing for me is 12 - if you just started out the game you can get him for 1.5m pounds which is a steal - his crossing needs to be trained - he will become a world beater on the ML position. Kevin de Bruyne as right midfielder is a great option for bigger clubs. Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica ML. Marc Albrighton MR from leicester. Ibai Gomez from Athletico de bilbao great ML. A player that can play both sides are Federico Carrizo from Boca Juniors. A real Exciting ML is Cristian Pavon - very cheap - only downside is that he's opposite footed he is right footed basically, but has a reasonable left foot. Messi Neymar perfection wide midfielders :) . David Silva ML. Another great one is KOKE both sides. Griezmann is a dream ML. Most of these requires ofcourse a really good team and a substantial amount of money but i think you can get Messi for free :D.

Cheers

Anyone got a good MR for Season 3? I'm Southampton, jsut sold Mane for 60m and looking for a new player. Cheers

How are the tactics With 3 attackers for a "poor" team? I am playing Whitehawk, season 2023 and have managed to get to the premier League. I am using a tactic now With 3 attackers which has worked Wonders before I got to the PL, now I am butchered. 7 matches and 7 losses.

I dont have playes to play With wingers so I kind of have to get stuck With this set formation.
