Mr Langvatn's Tactic Thread (Updated for 13.3.3)

Here's feedback from my second season with my beloved Inter. I have sold all 30+ years old players (without Cambiaso, Milito and Zaneti) and Pereira for 32 mil. I bought in mainly young talents with the intention to play Milito/Fierro/Longo up front. Got few players on loan too (De Bruyne, Essien, Coquelin) However Fierro got injured for 9 months and I was short on strikers. I bought Abel Hernandez for 8 mil, but the first half of the season I had real problem with the strikers. Milito wasn't scoring, Hernadez scored but not as much as I wanted, so in the winter transfer window I've bought unsettled Falcao for 42,5 mil (10m + 32,5 for 48 months) and he turned to be the real deal.

My expectations for the seasons were:
1. Serie A - Winner (after winning the title in the previous season, the board expected another win)
2. Champions league - The board expected 1/4-final, but for me every game after the group phase would have been success.
3. TIM Cup - No expectations as I always use my 2nd choice players.

The results:
1. Seria A - Winner with 34 wins and 4 draws. Although many of the wins were 1-0 because I had real problem with the strikers in the first half of the season.
2. TIM Cup - Winner. The only game that I used my first team was the final agains Juve, won 1-0.
3. Champions League - Winner (surprisingly). In the group I was with Man C, Metalist and Fenerbahce and I managed to win the group. First knockout round I got the team that I always hate to play against in FM - Liverpool. I lost the first game 2-1, but won the second with 3-1 and went through to the 1/4-finlas. There I met Bayern and I in an amazing first game i won 4-1. The second game wasn't much of contest and I lost 2-1. On the semi-final I met Man City again. In the group I managed to win 3-0 at home and 1-1 away, but this time the result at home was just 0-0. The away game - what a crazy game. I won 2-4 with 4 goals from Guarin. As for the final against Real Madrid I'll just let the screenshot speak for itself.

You can choose training yourself mate :) It's not vital for the tactic to have it in a certain way. It has been shown here a lot of times that everything works. Just try different stuff and see what fits your team best.

Hi Mr Langvatn ! I've finally finish my exams ! I would continue my party. What do you recommend like second tactic for complete the Rock when you are in trouble during a match ?

Thank you !

Same except I'm Arsenal and in the first season:

Premier League - Won with 98 points however lost 4 out of the last 5 games
Champions League - Quarter Final - After knocking out Munich 3-1 on agg I lost in the QF to Chelsea 3-2
FA Cup - QF lost to Spurs however had 2 men sent off
League Cup - Played kids and lost to Man City 2-0

However now in the second season:

Premier League - 8th after 10 games
Community Shield - Lost 3-0 to Man City and played full team

Any help please Mr.Langvatn? Seems your tactic only works for 1 season?

your conclusion is based on what? 2 examples? there several more example where people had consecutive promotions . I think its more man management related that your second season is worst.. post your team for help maybe? and how many new players did you bought? thats important also.

Tactic Works Fine for me after 3 seasons...
in 99% of cases it is a problem of management if you've got trouble....

Thanks for sharing this great tactic.

I won the portuguese league with Sporting on the first season, 24 W 6 D 0 L. Absolutely amazing !

Later i will post some screenshots.

Rock Classic really rocks ! :D

On most occasions I agree with this and have tried many tactics where they have worked perfectly for me but not for others and come to the same conclusion as you. However I have changed literally nothing from the first season to the second and the tactic just seems to have fallen off a little bit, I talk to my players regularly and I can't understand what's wrong.

I do send my assistant to the press-conferences however I did this in the first season, also used no OI as always. Can't understand it.

I think same that k3zz4. I've used rock and others Mr Langvatn's tactics during more season (3 with Lazio one with Ajax) And the results were impressive. So i think it's another problem like your management maybe ? Have you put high bonus in the beginning of your second season ? or maybe you are unlucky :P Try to swap players who have bad stats.

In the second season with Sporting the tactic still working fine for me. 4 W in 4 league matches, and a 1-1 in old trafford for UCL.

Just as I say that my last 6 results:

Arsenal 5 Southampton 0
Aston Villa 0 Arsenal 0
Arsenal 4 QPR 0
Everton 0 Arsenal 2
Arsenal 3 SLB 0
Arsenal 2 Man City 0

Maybe I spoke too soon....

new signings always need to gel into a new team especially when you buy 5 or 6 new players. So if your 2nd season isnt going that well the first couple of matches use the players you used the first season ( if you still have them ) and bring the newbies one at a time. Look at Man City and Chelsea, you cant buy a winning team !

Out of curiosity what training does everyone use? I use general - high and then def.pos but my players seem to be very tired.

I'm not an expert so don't take this as any kind of a truth, but it seems that "high" in general does indeed tire the players too much. Therefore, I would suggest ticking both allow rest before and after match, and using average training at most. Maybe you could put individual training focus on heavy with those players who can last longer without getting tired/who do not complain about high workload?

Of course better way - often not affordable with lower teams - could be having so good substitutions that you can constantly rotate the squad from match to match? However, I don't know if this has some kind of a negative effect in team cohesion?

If I remember correctly one of the principles of Sir Alex Ferguson used to be not changing a winning squad. Given that there were no injuries etc. at that time of course.
