Mr Langvatn's Tactic Thread (Updated for 13.3.3)

Started a new save yesterday as Velez (Argentina) and Al Ahly (Egypt), both decent but not great teams.

Using your sicilian defence and 4141 rocj classic plus cookiemaker's I double dare you counter attack tactic Ive played 3 matches each (Velez's two of these were against much better opponents) and comfortably beat everybody.

What Ive done is Ive started 4141 against better opponents and cicilian defence against lesser and when I went in front, thinking that the other team would increase attack intensity I switched to cookiemaker's tactics.

So the tactics look quite great - only problem is that this is not the way I like to play FM (ie just letting a brill tactic do all the work and me sit there admiring it) so I may get bored with them but the tactics do what it says on the tin so ONCE AGAIN YOU HAVE PROVEN YOURSELF TO BE A TACTICAL GOD ON FM!

Only tactic of yours I cant get to work is Spin the Wheel.

I've tried 442 Angels with Barcelona but it is very unstable like your 4-2-3-1. Even 4-2-3-1 is more stable than this tactic. :) And as if tactics be classic version it can be more successful in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback :) Will work on the defensive part.

Spin the Wheel doesn't work in 13.3.3, it was made for one of the first patches :)

first match with 442 Angel. not gelled at all, so i lost many goals, but still.. i score a lot and won, so definitely this tactic have a great potential ;) !

Thanks for the feedback. I was mostly interested in how it is offensively, cause I haven't looked much at the defense yet. Will keep this one and work on the defense part :)

Do I have to change anything for corners or is the set up already done?

They are set up by me.

using the angel v2. i see that the mentality is set to overload by default, do you adjust it to something less extreme when playing stronger teams like man city or barca?

Changing from overload won't change anything other than passing, as their mentality are set individually. And you do not want slower passing in a counter-attacking tactic :)

Hi Mr L.
I started a season with Man Utd using your 2-5-3 v2. I find it really good but the only bad thing is that i struggle a lot away from home against other top teams. I lose like 2-0, 3-0 each time. Should i use a diff tactic away from home?

Hi Sir L...Thanks for the tactics...i have tried and failed in general to do what you do so kudos for the cracking efforts.

I am using classic version and managing MK Dons. I used the 2-5-3v2 and finished the league top as expected. 113 points n and only 3 defeats all season. I managed a few scalps in the cup too and got to the fifth round only to lose one nil away to a PRM side.

I find the counter element of this tactic and the corner set up to be the most effective thing in the tactic besides the usual get the ball back at all costs attitude thats runs through the team.

Just a thought for away games...would changing say two STs to defensive forward and keeping one as a poacher help with tough away games ? I did use your original 4-3-3 angels and it was more solid. Maybe swap the two ? I prefer to use the same shape season long as opposed to using 3-6-1 sc def.

Top marks mate...it works a treat for me

Probably yes, until your team is strong enough to be the favourite away. With Bayern, I'm always favourite, and in CL, I win more at home than I lose away (if I lose away). Maybe the rock or the sicilian defense away against your biggest opponents.

Of course, it will be a tad better defensively with fullbacks instead of wingbacks, but a bit less scoring. It's just a choice I made. You can just move the wingbacks back to fullback position, and it won't effect the tactic in a big way. Some other guy also suggested that before every match, in the opposition instructions, you set the STCL and STCR to man mark the other team's backs. I wouldn't change the roles of the two forwards, as they have all settings set individually. But you can always try and see what happens :) I'm glad for feedback on people's experimenting on my tactics :) It's a big part of my learning to become better.

Mr L,

How you getting on with your Bayern save?

I know a couple of days ago you put up what you use for your training - can you link me to that please?

So my posts get put up on here that it's hard to find it!

Cheers!

Mr L, had been using the 2-5-3 Angel V2 for quite a while. It's working perfectly for home game and scoring goals for fun. However, there's some concern regarding away games. Somehow struggle to score and thn tend to draw or lose the game in the end. Is it because of the training and match prep. or will it be better if I used some of the other tactics

Probably better to use the sicilian defense or the rock away against the biggest opponents. Problems scoring against teams that "parks the bus" will be there until your team gets stronger and have gelled more :) In my first season, I had some of those games, the second season I won between 5-0 and 10-0 against the same teams.

Alright, gonna try the 3-6-1 and rock on away games against bigger opponents. Btw, regard to rock, is the 4-1-4-1 ROCK or ROCK CLASSIC? Thx
