Muamba

I'd like to think that he'll be fine, recover and get back on his feet in a couple of weeks. That's all I can and want to hope for really, the other side of it is far too dark to explore, but it could happen. Although signs are encouraging to see that he is recovering, it could go either way.

Really do hope he pulls through and can fight through this.

I reckon he'll be fine. There are few people on the planet who are, physically, better suited to having a heart attack. Whether he plays football again remains to be seen, but I have the kind of feeling he will.

I disagree. Thankfully he looks like he will survive (obviously the main thing) but unfortunately for him, Bolton and England I don't think he'll play football again. But we shall see I guess (even doctors don't know yet)

Thierry Henry flew all the way to London from America to spend an hour with former Arsenal team-mate Fabrice Muamba

Even more of a Hero than he already was.

I think the main thing he may suffer from is replaying the nightmare in his head. Could take a long time for the poor sod to get over what happened to him.

I'm doing a first aid course this week and my teacher has said that Fabrice Muamba is a one off. Well done to him for pulling through. Dead for 78 minutes, there can't be many people in the world that could have ever done that.

Yea If I remember right the longest time someone has been without pulse is something like 90 minutes and gotten through it. They probably "freezed" him so when the pulse returns it wont destroy brain cell's.

Yeah, he also told me that him being a super-fit athlete was probably the cause of it as well as the reason he's recovered. He said his body is probably so well tuned that one little thing that goes wrong can upset his entire system.

I feel there's just too much pressure on youngsters to reach their maximum levels of fitness and performance in football these days too soon, and it just takes such a toll on some players. There's just far too much pressure in everything at all levels these days. In my opinion anyway

Partly, but main thing for his recovery is swift acting by para's and that heart doctor in stands.

Its really amazing how all these these fit people are suddenly suffering heart attacks and stuff.. whenever I open the newspaper these days i read of how these young fit guy died while jogging etc.

Goes to show that we still do not know enough about our own bodies

I think Mancini is right, players should be checked by doctors as many times as possible, I say at least 3-4 times a year is a must.

That wont make a difference if someone is suffering from cardiomyopathy. It is undetectable in heart scans or Ecg's. It is just an unfortunate heart disease to have. Thats what Marc Vivien-Foe died of.

Guy who abused Muamba on twitter gets a 56 day jail sentence

Good. Anonymity on the internet is an important value but that doesn't mean that people should abuse it to be absolute dicks and avoid any consequences.
