Hello, been getting mighty frustrated with my tactics in this version of the game. Seriously must've tried about 10 different games so far. Finally decided that I'd scale back my player instructions and watch what happened. So far, so good. 3 draws and 1 defeat in 20 competitive games.
(sorry if the images are big, I'm on a 27" screen so they seem normal to me)
Looks quite similar to the Klopp tactic, but it never worked for me despite people getting good results with it.

As you can see, I've got two Ball Winning Midfielders. I had originally envisaged a Box To Box midfielder in there but it just didn't work as I'd hoped and he never helped out in the opposition half as much as the supporting BWM does. Schmelzer seems to get forward a lot more than Walker does and that may have something to do with the extra space on the left side of the pitch when Dembele goes forward. He's chipped in with a fair few key passes and his average tackles per game is higher than my two CB's. Only Sandro beats him.
I had originally set the IF's to support but they weren't really helping out in the final 3rd as much as they are now.
I think everything else positionally works well for my team but I'd try and sign attacking/midfield players that have good technical qualities (passing, first touch, technique) as well as good off the ball movement and creativity(where possible). Make sure your wing backs have pace and stamina. Your CB's just need to be good tackling, strong, reliable CB's. I've rotated my team for Europa League games (scraped through by the skin of my teeth!) and they've performed well.
I've only signed Schmelzer, Candreva and Damiao.
Adebayor and Friedel were my main departures.
Obviously, this may or may not work for your team but if someone could give it a go and let me know how things work out, that'd be good. It does play some good football and we've somehow managed to convert out CCC's.
Training
Pre Season: until fluid. This works and had me about 85% by season start
Main Focus - Team Cohesion
Intensity - Very High
Scheduling - All the way left
No resting before or after games
Once Fluid:
Main Focus - Balanced
Intensity - Average
Scheduling - 30% (two clicks from the left)
Allow resting after match
Match Prep:
Att Movement for home games
Def Positioning for away games
If you're leaky from Set Pieces, go for Def Set Pieces for a few weeks.
Results: (note the 7 game clean sheet streak)

EDIT:
Teamtalks:
I'm using Raikan's guide from 2013 and it seems to be working well.
OI:
Hire an assistant manager with good Tactical Coaching and Tactical Knowledge and get him to assign Opposition Instructions. If he has decent defending attribute, that would be good.
EDIT:
Just played Fulham away from home winning 4-0. Some pictures of the stats from that game. You get a better idea of how Dembele (no 19) and Sandro (no 6) operate in midfield. Sandro is almost like a defensive midfielder/anchor man, sitting deep while Dembele is more like.. well, an attacking sweeper I guess. Gives us a bit of a 5/5 formation. Stretches the play across the 18 yard box. 20 game unbeaten run has now been achieved.
