MEMO TO JIM FRASER FORM RICHARD FLETCHER

"God the rubbish parts of the press come up with sometimes, Deano is best off out wide to use his pace. Anyway I was happy with the CARLES PLANAS report and have asked Ron Gourlay to sign him, Barca only wanted £350K which is nothing in todays market, Your right hes not great in the air but looks ok as back up for RB, Romeu rates him I understand, Ciao for now"

R.FLETCHER - "HI, Well its early days in regards to matches but my confidence remains high in this bunch of players"

THE MIRROR - "How about any new faces?? Also how is Michael Essien`s knee injury at the mo?"

R.FLETCHER - "YES we are all set to sign our final player of this window, That will round it off to 4 purchases and 3 youth promotions, with 8 having left the first team squad I think we are all set on squad numbers. As for Ess its hard too say, This isn't his first bad injury and personally I doubt he will be half the player he once was"

TALK SPORT - "Daniel Sturridge is reported to be unhappy being played on the right hand side, is this a potential bust up in the making?

R.FLETCHER - "NO NO AND DOUBLE NO, playing at a club like Chelsea is a dream for someone Dani`s age,Hes very happy and will switch between both roles, after Torres he is my first choice out and out striker"

THE SUN -"Ricky, with both Lamps and Drogba making scoring debuts and JT still part of the England set up do you not think the team is weaker for there absents??"

R.FLETCHER - "Listen I keep telling you, THIS IS A PROJECT! people have left, one has refused to go but this is new Chelsea and we are very happy with our current situation."

Former player Jason Cundy today claimed to HAWKSBY & JACOBS that the Chelsea midfielder isnt best pleased with claims from Chelsea manager that his "best days are behind him"

However Cundy sided with the boss by saying "Ess has had problems, and in both knees, Fletchers style of play demands covering lots of ground and the bison will have to prove he can make the grade at new Chelsea"

FRIENDLY

Fans of Chelsea fc sang new manager Richard Fletchers name for the first time today as the blues dominated a full strength Benfica side, Only 7 minutes had passed when CULT ICON David Luiz headed home Juan Mata`s corner, Despite it being early in the game Chelsea had been threatening the goal from the off, Fletcher punched the air as his tactics of pushing defenders forward for set pieces had paid dividends.

An own goal followed by Mata`s second goal of pre-season would see the blues into the break 3 goals to the good and out of reach.

Sime Vrjaljko replaced Gary Cahill at the break with Ivanovic switched into the Centre of the defense.

Dan Sturridge met a Fernando Torres pass on 55 MINUTES TO MAKE IT 4-0 from 6 yards out, Chelsea then sat back and retained possession and continued to threaten on the break, Benfica made 3 changes on the hour but only managed 1 shot during the entire second half.

Chelsea will be pleased by the score line and ESPN predict they are one to watch this coming season.

Managers post game interview:Richard Fletcher was VERY pleased with what he saw today

CFC- "Hi Richard, were do we start?? that was a great performance from your side today"

R.FLETCHER -"It was good, very good, It must be noted that Benifca were at full strength and are at the same physical level as us, they have played 3 games as well now, Also Manchester United only beat them 2-1 at Old Trafford so I think were in good shape"

CFC - "The boys seemed up for it from the word go, whats the secret to motivating players for friendlys?"

R.FLETCHER - "I Simply told them just to go out and enjoy themselves, the idea was to remove any tension and I think it worked, Were very pleased with the amount of shots we had today, 18 attempts, 13 on target and only 4 long shots"

CFC- "It certainly did, Hows Gary`s knee seems he picked up a knock?"

R.FLETCHER - "The early signs are Gary Cahill will miss the next 3-4 weeks IM afraid, We swapped him with Vrjaljko at half time and moved Brana Ivanovic into the middle, I had wanted to get Nathaniel a run out but we seemed set at the back and the clean sheet was important, The plan is too get some of the younger boys playing with the reserves if there not in the first team the the same week"

Good afternoon and welcome to chelsea Football club for todays Friday press conference with manager Richard Fletcher

THE MIRROR - "Richard we've heard reports of Michael Essien being unhappy regarding your comments, is that the case??"

R.FLETCHER - "I can confirm me Jim Fraser and Michael spoke in Surrey this week, Michael has concerns but listen to our plans and is up for the challenge, He will have 4-5 months after his injury to show his worth to our squad and if it doesn't go to plan we will re-assess"

THE MIRROR - "So he is on trial in effect until the end of the season???"

R.FLETCHER - "Yes, but there are 3-4 older players who have also failed to so far set the bridge alite, Sol Kalou and Mikel Obi fall into that category, its over to them from August 13th when the season begins too prove there quality"

THE MIRROR - "New signings?"

R.FLETCHER - "No were all set thanks, the boys have been in Argentina since yesterday for our 2 friendlies and I am jetting out after watching the reserves tonight"

sky sports - "Some of the squad are yet to travel why is that??"

R.FLETCHER -"The younger players who didn't feature against Benfica will play in a strong reserve side versus Port Vale, I expect to be impressed by them!"

SKY SPORTS - "Ok have a good tour in Argentina, are you excited for the trip??"

R.FLETCHER - "Its a relic from the Villas-Boas regime, personally I would have liked an earlier tour, next season I will hand pick the friendly's"

Chelsea continued there fine pre-season form with a third straight win in a row, in front of 20,000 fans in the heat of eastern Argentina both sides made a quiet start to the game, however when Mata was fowled on 35mins Fernando Torres scored from the spot.

Fletcher had named the same side as in previous games and seems settled on his line-up now, Kalou replaced Mata after the Spaniard had made it 2-nil on 55minutes, his third goal for Chelsea.

Kalou then created a goal finished by Ramires before grabbing a deserved goal for himself to make it 4-nil.

All that was left was for Torres to smash in his second, again from the spot after the busy Ramires was tumbled over.

Full time - Chelsea 5 star today, Fletcher will be happy with his sides domination, but tougher tests lie ahead and Torres has stilled not scored from open play.

Good afternoon and welcome to chelsea Football club for todays press conference with manager Richard Fletcher

THE MIRROR - "Welcome back from Argentina, sum up how the tour went for your team??"

R.FLETCHER - "It was very hot, laughs, the players are certainly at top condition now, ready for Saturdays big kick off, our last game of the tour against Banfield was played behind closed doors so we could tinker with a few ideas"

THE MIRROR - "So is everyone excited about Saturdays trip to Everton and the season start ??"

R.FLETCHER - "Yes, the team can`t wait and me neither!!,weve had some good news about Gary Cahills injury and he will make the bench for this Saturday "

THE MIRROR - "Last time we spoke you said no more signings, Why did you splash the cash on the young boy Bostwick then and its not a typical Chelsea signing is it?"

R.FLETCHER - "Michael Bostwick was bought to my attention about 3 week ago, having researched his attributes we decided to get the boy, Stevenage accepted a low fee with further payments if he makes an international appearance"

sky sports - "Surely at 23 he wont make the leap into the England squad??"

R.FLETCHER -"This boy is good, with my guidance and playing with better players the world is his oyster"

PLAYERS OUT DROGBA,LAMPARD,COLE,CECH,MALOUDA,FERRERA,HILARIO,BOSINGWA

TRANSFER REVIEW: A summer of big name departures and low-profile arrivals has seen Chelsea make over £40 Million pounds in transfers, Also the clubs huge weekly wage bill has been cut from £1,800,000 per week to £1,250,000 in line with the clubs new budjet policy.

SKYSPORTS PREDICTION: Chelsea still have 4-5 big name players, The spanish duo of Mata and Torres will be crucial if they are to be succesful, youth is set to get its chance at the bridge this term and the fans will be hoping the new Chelsea can light up the division and avoid the lack of success seen at fellow Londoners Arsenal whom have also trusted in youth and developmet in recent years.

MEMO FROM JIM FRASER (ASSISTANT)

"Morning Richard, Here we are, the eve of season, and your first with Chelsea.
Any special tactics for tomorrows game at Everton?? our recent record isn't great there, I agree that a point would be ok if we cant force the victory as they have a more than capable side. Apart from Studges 3 game ban you have a fully fit squad at your disposal"

MEMO TO JIM FRASER FROM RICHARD FLETCHER

"Hi Jimmy and thanks, the pre-season has been good and the match prep from training stands us in good stead, missing Danny for 3 matches will hurt us and Everton is a hard place to go, There at full strength except Pienaar is injured so a draw isn't the worst result in the world, as for tactics IM not changing anything to counter the, we play are own game and have enough quality to get a positive result"

Chelsea conceded a 93rd minute equalizer in an evenly matched game under the Liverpool sunshine. This seasons curtain raiser was an evenly matched affair, The Londoners were the better side in the first half, with the toffes in charge for the second.

The first half was goal-less despite Chelsea creating 4-5 half decent chances and the hosts offering very little in attack.

Juan Mata broke the deadlock on 50 minutes when he was found by the lively Fernando Torres, Chelsea then struggled to retain possession and Everton pushed for the equaliser.

Chelsea tired and made 3 subs towards the end of the game, The lack of experience on the blues bench told and Everton were well on top by this point, a couple of superb saves form Courtious looked to have won the point for the visitors but Darron Gibson`s deflected drive deep into stoppage time meant both team shared the spoils.

Neither manager will complain as there were post ivies for both of them to be had.

Managers post game interview:Richard Fletcher "so close"

CFC- "Hi Richard,We were a kick away from full time when Everton forced the leveler, how is moral in the changing room?"

R.FLETCHER -"Obviously its a shame we couldn't hold out for the 3 points, but this is a hard place to come and with it being so early in the season a draw isn't a bad result, the team will be more aware in the closing stages next time, IM sure of that"

CFC - "The stats indicate a draw was a fair result,is this a good base t start the season from now?"

R.FLETCHER - "Yes, a point is on the board and the performance was good, we matched them for shots and edged possession by about 5%, they were restricted to long range efforts were we only had 3 long shots out of 11, so its a good base for sure"

CFC- "Juan Mata scores yet again, he looked fab during pre-season didn't he"

R.FLETCHER - "Juan can be the best player in the division on his day, Nando keeps working hard and picked Juan out today, those two are special players"
CFC - "It was a very young bench today, with little playing time at this level, It seemed to hinder your side in the last 20mins when the likes of Brana and Kwadwo came off"

R.FLETCHER - "Sure there young, we had no choice with Ivanoic and Asamoah, they were worn out, but if you don't play youngsters they wont develop, its that simple"

PREMIER LEAGUE FIXTURE #2

Richard Fletcher will have fewer easier afternoons as Chelsea manager as his team cruised to a straight forward 2-nil victory over disappointing Newcastle United.

This game was bossed by Chelsea from start to finish, young English full back Ryan Bertrand combined with Mata to set up Ramires on 30mins to give Chelsea the lead.

Chances game and went for the blues but half time passed with the hosts slightly ahead.

A Newcastle comeback was never likely in truth, and when Kalou finished from a Ramires assist the result was beyond doubt.

Man of the match Bertrand continued to create chances but some superb saves from Krul kept it to 2-nil.

Chelsea are gathering momentum, As for Newcastle a side with what Fletcher described as dynamite up front, they were by far and away too negative in their tactics.

Regarding the Champions league draw I agree we are in a strong posItion, play full strength teams for matchday 1-4 and we should be qualified, then get the fringe players run outs in the last 2 games, but dont forget that prize money for winning each game!

27/8/11
PREMIER LEAGUE FIXTURE #3

The first West London derby between QPR and Chelsea in over a decade was a day to forget for the smaller hoops, Chelsea supporters may not see it as a BIG GAME but they certainly won`t forget this encounter anytime soon, neither will Juan Mata.

6 minutes were on the clock when a lung bursting run and measured pass from Ramires lead to the first chance of the match, Juan Mata obliged with a smart finish to score his second of the season.

Mata then turned provider with Kalou meeting a cross on 26 minutes to double Chelsea`s advantage, Rangers threatened a comeback when Bobby Zammora muscled in an effort from a rare bit of ball watching from Chelsea`s defense on 41mins, however the 2 goal lead was restored by half time when Mata smashed in from long range following an Asamoah pass.

In the late August sunshine Chelsea fans taunted there rivals during half time as there side had been in total control, Making 10 shots compared to the hosts 2.

Gary Cahills first goal in Chelsea blue on 46mins was a disaster for Rangers whos players then turned ugly and yiealded 4 second half yellows, Chelsea still bettered this with 5 players going into referee Jones`s book during the 90.

QPR in only managed a total of 6 efforts on goal all game compared to Chelsea`s 19, and all that was left was for the little Spaniard to try and complete his first Chelsea hatrick.

The records will show Vrsaljko, Chalobah and Meireles made late cameo roles but the final drama was on 91 minutes when mis-firing striker Fernando Torres missed from 4 yards out, Torres chased down the rebound however and smartly chipped a pass to that man Mata again who calmly vollyed in his third and Chelsea`s fifth.

Wingers rarely score hatricks, but Mata did and now has 4 goals to his name this season already. In fact he was involved in all but 1 of Chelsea`s goals today.

Full time in the sunshine of Loftus Road, Qpr 1 Chelsea 5
