Nope, takeover failed :D I will look at the two players soon as I get a mouse LOL Who does Pancate play for? Don't think I've heard of him...

He is available on a free at the start, was at PSG. Very good at this level, may be decent at Prem level aswell. I got lucky with the takeover. Managed to get completed before the window closed, and got 14m to spend.

£14m?! Can't wait to open up my game and see how much I get lol!

Good luck with game mate.Im cureently in a newcastle came as well 6 games left to play sitting second 3 points behind west brom. just got a fantastic 4-1 victory away to boro in league so hopefully that will spur me to the chamionship with west brom going down 2-1 to blackpool.

my signing of the season has been vieri and david healey, got takeover as welland got nothing!!

good luck for the rest of your game, will be checking back for updates

Woohoo! Christmas comes early: I have a mouse! :) Updates very very soon. Keep checking back ;) Thanks for being patient guys!

Good luck mate, hope you will check my story too!

Don't worry mate, I'm checking most Newcastle ones to see how I compare anyway :P Good results so far, keep it up.

Btw guys who is your new owner if you got one? In my game it is rumored that his name is Paul Cole, I hope he is reach.

JANUARY 2010

The month kicks off with great news as I am named Manager of the Month for the first time this season, and hopefully not the last:

Saturday, 2nd (FA Cup 3rd Round): Newcastle United 4 : 1 West Ham UnitedTamas Kadar (11), Ebi Smolarek (32, 38), Kevin Nolan (57) : Carlton Cole (68)

Surprisingly, we were hotly tipped going into this match as favourites to progress to the next round. With a nearly-fully fit squad (Coloccini injured), it only took 27 seconds for Kevin Nolan to miss a glorious chance to go one-up. Tamas Kadar put us ahead after just 11 minutes. Smolarek adds to his overall goal tally with a clinical finish 20 minutes later, and it doesn’t take long to find his second of the match, a well-struck volley from 12 yards. West Ham started the second half brightly, but it was us who got the next goal; Nolan with a cool header. Carlton Cole got a goal 22 minutes from time, but they still had a lot to do. We ran out deserved winners with a superb display.

Average rating: 7.56
Man of the Match: Ebi Smolarek (Newcastle), 8.5

Newcastle to play Bristol City in Fourth Round
Newcastle United will play Bristol City in the English FA Cup Fourth Round.

The game will be played at St. James’ Park on Saturday 23rd Januray 2010.

Newcastle last won the competition in 1955.

Saturday, 9th: Reading 0 : 2 Newcastle UnitedIvar Ignimarsson O.G. (18), Ben Tozer (pen 82)

It was Reading who started strongest, getting in two shots in the opening 3 minutes, but a superb counter attack saw Ignimarsson put the ball in the back of his own net. A boring first half sees us in front, with not much to promise in the second. We get a penalty late on, which Ben Tozer (I don’t know why!) converts. A poor match, but definitely a good win for us.

Average rating: 7.04
Man of the Match: Steven Taylor (Newcastle), 7.5

Newcastle player named in Team of the Week
Jose Enrique was selected in the Coca-Cola Championship Team of the Week first eleven.

Saturday, 16th: Newcastle United 0 : 1 West Bromwich AlbionJoey Barton sent off (80) : Ivan Obolo (15)

With West Brom playing just 3 days ago, I’m hoping for fluent football that’ll look to tire them even more. Coloccini is back from injury which will help us defensively, but starts on the bench due to consistent performances from Kadar. “I expect a win” rings in the players’ ears, and it’s not long before West Brom take the lead (LOL!). With that the only talking point in the first half, it was time for some encouragement. With 15 minutes to go, we go all out attack, and Barton gets sent off. A disappointing result for sure.

Average rating: 6.68
Man of the Match: Ivan Obolo (West Brom), 7.9

Saturday, 23rd (FA Cup Fourth Round): Newcastle United 2 : 1 Bristol CityEbi Smolarek (40), Alan Smith (76) : David Clarkson (pen 55)

A match in which I am completely not bothered. I will start defensive as Bristol have a good away record. Don’t mind going through, would rather go out to concentrate on the Championship, but we’ll have a go anyway. A goal from Smolarek and an assist from Lovenkrands 5 minutes before half time puts us in control. A penalty 10 minutes after the break sees City equalise. Alan Smith scores a well placed volley quarter of an hour from time. (Unfortunately) we progress to the 5th round.

Average rating: 7.01
Man of the Match: Alan Smith (Newcastle), 7.8

Newcastle to play Derby in Fifth Round
Newcastle United will play Derby County in the English FA Cup Fifth Round.

The game will be played at St. James’ Park on Saturday 13th February.

Derby County won the competition for the only time in their 126-year history back in 1946.

Wednesday, 27th: Newcastle United 1 : 0 Crystal PalacePeter Lovenkrands (90+4)

With Derby losing (but Bristol City winning) it was a glorious opportunity to lose another team in the race for the title. A very even first half sees the scores level at 0-0 at the break. With nothing in the second half, it looked to be a very boring draw, but Lovenkrands saves the day as he scores in the 4th minute of injury time (we were only supposed to play 3!).

Average rating: 7.03
Man of the Match: Peter Lovenkrands (Newcastle), 7.6

Saturday, 30th: Leicester City 0 : 1 Newcastle UnitedAlan Smith (62)

Alan Smith takes a knock early on, but he’s able to continue. Ebi Smolarek gets a goal disallowed after 17 minutes. That was it for the first 45, but in the 47th minute Smolarek hit the bar, the rebound fell to Jonas, who also hit the crossbar. Smith manages to score a powerful header, then gets taken off due to injury. With 10 minutes to go, it’s shut up shop for us, which proves to be a good tactical decision, as it restricts Leicester from getting a shot in.

Average rating: 7.02
Man of the Match: Alan Smith (Newcastle), 7.7

Anyways good luck you have a good start there also if could look at my story it would be nice :D, hard luck about loosing to westbrom

Hey mate, nice doing with Newcastle, this makes me do better with The Toons and I am sure toonfan3 is delighted, LoL.
Good job!

FEBRUARY

With no extra additions to the squad, although tried and failed, I’m going for the rest of the season with the players I have.

Saturday, 6th: Newcastle United 3 : 1 Cardiff CityEbi Smolarek (69), Jonas (74), Mark Kennedy O.G. (90+1) Kevin Nolan sent off (53) : Michael Chopra (88)

With the odds heavily stacked against Cardiff, it was a great chance to get a few goals against them and increase our goal difference. A disappointing start as Cardiff came close a few times, even having a goal disallowed. After the break, I’m forced to make a change as Kevin Nolan gets sent off and Nicky **** picks up an injury. Ebi Smolarek gets a goal 20 minutes from time to go 1-0 up. An incisive breakaway after shutting up shop gifts Jonas a goal with 15 minutes to go. Danny Simpson makes an immediate impact after coming on by getting himself booked (sarcasm). Chopra gets a goal back 2 minutes from time to put them back in the game for a minimal time. A corner in the first minute of injury time deflects off a Cardiff back and puts us 3-1 up. A great result against a team I hate personally :P

Average rating: 7.20
Man of the Match: Jonas (Newcastle), 8.2

Tuesday, 9th: Derby County 2 : 2 Newcastle United – Steven Davies (pen 45+3, pen 77) : Shola Ameobi (6 (six)), Steven Davies O.G. (72)

Crunch match! Derby have the upper hand this time as they are home. They are threatening automatic promotion, following Bristol City closely. A defensive 4-4-2 is all I’ve got to offer them. 5 minutes into the match and Ameobi puts us one-up. A harsh decision gives Derby a penalty, which Steven Davies converts. A change at half time is what was needed as Geremi picked up a knock. Derby scorer Davies scores an own goal to put us in the lead again. Parking the bus with 20 minutes left. The referee gives Derby ANOTHER penalty! I can’t believe this! I feel I’ve been harshly robbed of this match, and will probably lead me into criticising the referee.

Average rating: 6.54
Man of the Match: Steven Davies (Derby), 8.0

View attachment 16941

Yep, I was warned by the FA after moaning about penalty decisions and yellow cards. Pah, who gives? At least I won’t be seeing the referee next season ;)

Saturday, 13th (FA Cup Fifth Round): Newcastle United 1 : 2 Derby CountyAndy Carroll (65) : Dean Leacock (57), Giles Barnes (pen 62)

A rematch with the Rams, but this time I’m not really bothered about the outcome. A confident performance in the first half by the reserves and under 18s. 0-0 at half time. Dean Leacock puts the visitors ahead, then – guess what!? – Derby get a penalty. Andy Carroll replies with a well-struck volley. Final whistle goes, good, I’m out of the FA Cup. The league has full concentration now.

Average rating: 6.86
Man of the Match: Dean Leacock (Derby), 7.8

Wednesday,17th: Newcastle United 3 : 2 Coventry CityEbi Smolarek (38), Tamas Kadar (75), Joey Barton (90) Steven Taylor sent off (78) : Anton Peterlin (28), Elliott Ward (64)

A game that we have to win as Coventry are sitting at 18th in the league. Anything less than a win will be an embarrassment. Argh, Coventry strike first on 28 minutes. 10 minutes later, Smolarek gets an equaliser. Coventry go back in front with 25 minutes left. Smolarek has to come off with an injury, which gives super sub Ameobi a chance to shine. Kadar equalises a minute after Ebi goes off, then Steven Taylor gets himself sent off. Bad boy Joey Barton scores the winner on 90 minutes, a 30-yarder! I can’t express enough how happy I am to win this match after the performance.

Average rating: 7.11
Man of the Match: Tamas Kadar (Newcastle), 7.9

View attachment 16943

News has come in that Ebi Smolarek has sprained his ankle, which will see him being sidelined for around 5 weeks, much to my frustration.

Saturday, 20th: Newcastle United 3 : 1 Preston North EndJonas (37), Adam McGarry O.G. (42), Shola Ameobi (50) : Ross Wallace (56)

Resting a few players as Swansea are hosting us in 4 days time. A goal from Jonas and an own goal sees us 2-0 at half time. Lovenkrands has picked up a knock, but I hope it’s not too serious; LuaLua replaces him. 5 minutes after the restart, Ameobi puts us 3 goals to the good. Wallace replies after a great counter attack by Preston.

Average rating: 7.20
Man of the Match: Jonas (Newcastle), 8.2

Argh, Lovenkrands has a twisted knee, out for two weeks!

Newcastle players named in Team of the Week
Tamas Kadar, Jonas and Joey Barton were selected for the Coca-Cola Championship Team of the Week first eleven.

Wednesday, 24th: Swansea City 0 : 3 Newcastle UnitedShola Ameobi (4), Jonas (18), Ryan Taylor (82)

Swansea are doing well this season and it’s important I break them down in this match. An early goal was key in this match, and Shola Ameobi struck first within 4 minutes. They saw themselves punished as Jonas took advantage of a slack back pass by Swansea. A great first half, and I don’t expect the performance to drop. Ryan Taylor strikes a third late on to secure the win. A fantastic performance and a tremendous result!

Average rating: 7.46
Man of the Match: Jonas (Newcastle), 8.2

View attachment 16945

Thankfully, Bristol City lost their game-in-hand, which sees us 11 points clear at the top :D

Saturday, 27th: Watford 1 : 2 Newcastle United – Fabricio Coloccini O.G. (73) : Shola Ameobi (23), Ryan Taylor (60) Joey Barton sent off (68)

This is going to be a tough test for the lads as Watford are progressing nicely recently. The only change I make is Steven Taylor coming back from suspension in place of Tamas Kadar, who drops to the bench. Oh by the way, I played a reverse asymmetric system against Swansea, and I’m sticking to that formation. It seems to work as Ameobi strikes first on 23 minutes, but that was the only thing worth noting, although we have bombarded the Watford half. Another Jonas assist sees Ryan Taylor poke one in the back of the net on the hour mark. Joey Barton gets another red card for the season, and that’s starting to frustrate me. They keep playing into the empty space down the middle and force Coloccini to score an own goal. A good result away from home against Watford.

Average rating: 6.87
Man of the Match: Ryan Taylor (Newcastle), 7.8

This is an extract from Joey Barton’s profile – take a look at his yellow and red card records compared to the amount of matches he’s played. This is probably normal but something’s got to be done about it, and I’ve decided to fine him a week’s wages. Maybe that’s not harsh enough... lol

With Derby only drawing and Bristol City LOSING again, I think it’s worth looking at the end-of-February league table:

Hello All, im sorry to jump in on your thread mike, but it is newcastle save related. Firstly tho, im Kev and im new to this site. i have been following peoples stories and especially like kinger, tiger, max king and of course mike dale. i havent commented but have followed with great interest but have now decided that today is the day i introduce myself! I support Colchester United and i will be starting up a story, trying to get the might U's into the EPL within 5 seasons.

The reason i am on this thread, apologies mike, is that do you have a setting where you can turn takeovers on or off? its just that i was running a newcastle save which ended up not loading anymore, but for 2 seasons there wasnt a hint of a takeover, but everyone else seems to have had one at least? am i just unlucky or is there a setting i need to change, ive looked but cannot see one?

I'm not sure, I wouldn't have thought so. I might be wrong mind, you might be able to find it in a bit of code or on the database.

If you ask Sean or Lee or Kris or JPWoody I'm sure they'll tell you more.

Thanks for following!

i won the championship with newcaslte first season, finished 3rd in the premiership second season, now in my 3rd im 7th, just qualified for the knockout group of the champs league. Last season Yakubu scored 37 in 36

Then what players have you bought to finish 3rd in Premiership?

I won't say that, just post your players, that's all.
