Just finished my first season trying this tactic with West Ham in the 2017/18 season after I had three seasons at Wigan.
I took over West Ham after they finished 9th the season before and were predicted to finish 10th the season after.
This was the final table for my first season

As you can see, the tactic worked very very well.
These were my transfers throughout the year

To accommodate the long throw ins I signed Carlos Akapo for £625k and he finished with an average rating of 8.56. He didn't start with the long bullet throw trait so I had to train him for a month or two at the start of the season.

He had a ridiculous amount of key passes this season, managing 822 in 38 appearances and he broke the league record for most man of the matches.

Whilst I dominated the season and scored a lot of goals, I never had an *outrageous* top-scorer as the best I had was Sergio Araujo with 24 goals in the league. I tried to buy Wilfried Bony in January, and then when I sold Enner Valencia a few weeks later, I decided to splash the cash and get Harry Kane but neither scored a huge amount of goals from that central striker position.
I didn't mind though because the whole team scored a lot of goals altogether.
A lot of my goals did come from corners and throw ins I've got to say as you can see on this screenshot

I went on holiday for the Sheffield Wednesday cup game as I couldn't be bothered to control that game.
Overall though, this tactic is by far the best I've used and scores a shed loads of goals even though I couldn't perfect that central striker role.
