Pepe Reina 'considers Liverpool future

The players seem to be enjoying their football again, and confidence is coming back. Here's Agger.
Defender Daniel Agger is enjoying life at Liverpool again after admitting injuries and being played out of position left him low on morale.

The Denmark international was shunted out of his normal central position at the start of the season with Fabio Aurelio not fully fit and Paul Konchesky not signed until transfer deadline day.

He featured at left-back in all or some of Liverpool's first six Barclays Premier League matches before a complicated calf problem sidelined him for three months.

The 26-year-old returned to action in the New Year's Day victory over Bolton and has started seven matches and been used as a substitute once since.

Jamie Carragher's absence after surgery on a dislocated shoulder allowed Agger to slot back in to central defence without too much disruption and he is grateful to get a run of matches.

"My problem the last six months with me not being first choice has been the injuries," he said.

"The first month or two when I was injury-free I played left-back and I definitely don't think that is my first priority to play out there.

"After that I got injured and was playing catch-up all the time and that was difficult.

"Now I am finally fit I am playing games and that is good for me.

"I have learned about my body now and I have learned it is struggling from time to time so I have to enjoy the time I have on the pitch and try to do everything I can for the team.

"But it is a lot easier to keep fit when I am playing regularly rather than coming in and out of the side."

With central defensive partner Martin Skrtel having the odd wobble in recent weeks, Agger's calming influence and ability to play the ball out from the back has undoubtedly helped usher in a return to a pass-and-move style of play introduced by Kenny Dalglish since he took over from Roy Hodgson a month ago.

Liverpool have kept clean sheets in their last three matches and Agger believes that is due to a change of attitude within the squad.

"The easiest answer is the confidence and mentality of working for each other," said the Dane, who is likely to face former team-mate Fernando Torres in a Chelsea shirt at Stamford Bridge for the first time tomorrow.

"Kenny came in at a difficult time. It is always difficult to come in when a team is struggling, but I think we have started to play better.

"Definitely he lifted the team, definitely he lifted the team spirit, and we have to give the credit to him and Steve Clarke (brought in as coach to help Dalglish).

"We've got these wins in a row so confidence will rise and hopefully that will carry on in the next couple of games.

"There is quite a way to go and that is why we have to take one game at a time, to get three points and see where that takes us."

Agger's a very good defender, doesn't get the credit he deserves, brilliant at bringing the ball into the midfield. Shame he gets so many injuries.

Agger if he stayed Injury free, could of be like Rio is for us, Bringing the ball forward from the back line, Picking key passes as well as a top class defender, Shame injury halted his development.

Reina not ruling out Utd move

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has refused to rule out a move to bitter rivals Manchester United.
United are considering their goalkeeping options as they seek a replacement for Edwin van der Sar

has been mooted as a possible transfer target after establishing himself as one of the best keepers in Europe during his time at Liverpool.

The 28-year-old has admitted he could be tempted to make the move to Old Trafford

as he wants to be challenging for trophies on a consistent basis.
"Yes, well Van der Sar will hang up his gloves in the summer so of course they are looking," Reina told Spanish radio station Ondo Sera. "I can't do anything. I can't say anything logically as I have a contract with Liverpool.
"Of course one likes to fight for titles and be in a team that does that. We always fought to be in the Champions League and try to win the title. But unfortunately it hasn't been the case in the last couple of years."

"I won't lie, I want to play in the Champions League and challenge for titles," added Reina.

True but, if asked if he could move to United, Carragher would say 'NO' not

I think Pepe Reina would be the best possible signing for Manchester United as a GK, think about it. There's no better keeper in the league recently, he has all the Premierleague experience needed. Tipped to be the next captain of Liverpool, and if I am correct he has a 25million release clause in his contract? Just about the right valuation to me.

Right then, I'll bet my life on Reina never moving to Man United.

Never thought Reina would even engage the thought of going ManU, Arsenal should buy him we have the money a shame also tight-fisted.

He said he wanted to win titles, so why would he go to Arsenal?

Doesn't mean Arsenal shouldn't try to get him, never said he would go besides we will see at the end of the season maybe Arsenals title status may have changed.

If it wasn't for the Man City not selling to rivals thing Man Utd should go for Given
