Perfect 4-1-2-2-1 My Last Hurrah

I am utterly gobsmacked that this tactic doesn't have 100+ pages of comments and a few peoples tweaks etc... Its a cracking tactic, i've tried many tactics from this forum and this 1 is clearly the best balanced tactic there is! Good work and well done to the creator!

Cheers for that mate, I use the attacking version for ALL home games and the normal version for ALL away games. I came 3rd with West Ham first season and should/could easily have won the league without so many fluke and freak goals scored against me. This screenshot shows my recent season 2 game away to Liverpool. How I lost that game 3-0 (having watched the game) is beyond ridiculous.

I also lost to Villa after murdering them for 90 minutes. Their first goal came from my player with the ball going down injured, they walked off with the ball and scored from it. Their winner(2-1) came from one of those penalty decisions where no foul has taken place(linesman spots something).

This is the normal standard tactic. I use this untweaked for every away game. For the home tactic I change the fullbacks to attacking and add "look for overlap" team instruction. If you need a goal change to attack or even overload. To see out a game change to counter and structured.

So you've started changing it to look for a goal or see out a game? How does it work? Does it not upset the balance, especially changing to counter and structured. That's a huge change, even if it's only two clicks.

No it definitely helps and I've had comebacks and seen games out when changing either way mate.

Good to hear. Have you tried switching to counter as soon as you go one goal up? Also, when you go down, do you immediately change FB to attack and ask for overlap?

Depends on the situation, if I score a late goal winner/equaliser in a tight game i'll do it then, or at half time if I am 3 or more goals up. I usually change to attack at half time if needed(as I rarely watch first halfs) and then overload at around 75 minutes if I still need a goal.

I´m going to give your tactic a shot on my new Inter save. I loaded it up and it seems to fit my team pretty well so I´m curious as to what the results are going to be. I do have a few simple questions though:

1.Can you play more poacher/targetman like players in the F9 posistion or even change this role?

2: Who should be your corner takers?

3: Is there any specific type of match training you use or can I just leave this to my own judgement?

Cheers!

1. Not sure mate. 2. Wingers I think, I took the corner set up from another tactic but never got the instructions. 3. I start pre season with tactics high and then switch to balanced average and on the other side attacking movement.

Thanks for the quick answer. Played a couple matches and won them all so far, strikers did fine so not going to tinker with that. As for the corner setup, i have my fullback's taking them right now which seems to be the correct way by just looking at it. I haven't scored from them yet though so after a few more games I'm going to try with the wingers.

Edit: just scored from a corner with the fullbacks as the cornertakers so this seems to be correct way.

I normally have my fullbacks set to defend so will have to have a look at the set up. Thanks though and keep me updated.

Glad to know its not just me with regular results like this, across ALL tactics!

Not just you mate, its been said how easy FM is this year, if it wasn't for results like this I wouldn't lose at all. Makes you think.

Quick update as I'm now three quarters through the season. I'm 12 points ahead of Napoli who are in second place with a game in hand aswell which is really, really good in my eyes. I only have on loss in the league so far with Icardi scoring 30 goals as the F9 and Adama Traore with 20 assists from the right wing.

I go knocked out in the quarter finals of the cup by Fiorentina on penalties in a game I probaly deserved to lose anyway.
I am however, still going strong in the EL as I'm now facing Lyon in the quarter finals. Looking at the remaining teams I think i have a good shot of winning the EL aswell.

To summarize: great tactic with good looking play and awesome results aswell!
